Birth by Sleep Ansem the Wise! -Spoilers-

There are a few choice words that suggest that the cutscene takes place after KHII, and the man talking is Ansem the Wise.

He talks about having the "heart of a scientist."
Heart. So he can't be a Nobody. That rules out Xemnas, but keeps Ansem the Wise in the possibility.

He speaks of doing "terrible things to that boy and his friends."
Ansem the Wise put Sora to sleep so he could bring back his memories and use him for revenge.

Now, he speaks of the boy sleeping for a long time. That takes place in KHII.

And he says it has been a year since he has seen him.

The boy he was talking about was revealed to be Sora.
And with that, here is my theory.

Ansem the Wise, as most of us recall, was supposedly killed by the explosion of his machine. My theory is, that instead of being killed, Ansem was transported to that dark world where he wandered before making it to the shore.

Thoughts? Opinions?

 

I think you're right. It probably sent him there but due to the nature of the machine (encoding hearts) he started to forget things bit by bit (maybe like Sora did in CO). I think he mentioned not being able to remember a few things but i think that line was just from Mike's fandub.

 

I think you could be on to something. It makes sense. I mean, he could be dead still, but him being alive is quite a possibility. What game is ever so simple anyway? Just leaving him dead?​

 

That was confirmed to be true 5 months ago actually.

 

This and it might be a better idea to not have a title with such an obvious spoiler since people like to avoid those sometimes.

Didn't Nomura say something about how he and Aqua are dead but could be ressurected because of the data tht Ansem hid in Sora's heart?

 

I'm pretty sure that Nomura didn't say that.

They're not dead. They're just stuck in the realm of darkness where time moves slower than in the realm of light so Aqua didn't age significantly.

 

Actually, only Aqua isn't dead. The other guy is dead; well sort of. He's wearing an Organization Robe, signifying that he's..well you know. (Where's the spoilers button so I can hide this without spoiling it for someone!!) He hints that he has been in that ocean twice. The first time in his previous life; hint hint? The second time him being there because he's dead; sort of. But, yeah that theory has been already discovered...

 

To hinder this confusion, Nomura actually said that Death is a concept that doesn't exist in Kingdom Hearts so the revival or return of Characters is more than possible. In relation to Guardians comment, as far as i know, there has been no indication of time differances in the realm of darkness. There are some merits to that statement but it hasn't really been indicated as of yet.

 

Yeah it was definitely Ansem the Wise, the video even shows a close up of Ansem the Wise's eyes, then the text, then the eyes again, I mean how obvious can you get?

 

Organization coat doesn't equel to death/nobody/whatever. Mickey and Riku would like a word with you.

Remember what Ansem said in KH2? Even he didn't know what would happen when the device would explode.
So he just got sent there with his memories fading (a real explosion can screw up your memories too).

The time flows slower thing could be applied, seeing how Aqua looks the same age (the Ansem+Aqua scene taking place 1 year after KH2). Either that or Aqua ages well (heck, I am 25 and some people still think I look like a 16-18 year old).

 

That's true, and my bad. I forgot the whole "Can't die concept" in the KH Universe. But, yeah it IS obvious who that man is.

 

yes like others have siad it is ansem and its kind of a dead give away with the red eyes and the yellow beard lol... bt my question is sora and riku were in the realm of darkness after they beat xemnas... so my question is WHY THE HELL DIDNT THEY BRING THEM BACK!!! lol... i know that they probably didnt know that aqua and ansem were there but still lol they are in the same location pretty much and for the least part i think if a giant glowing door was shining in a dark place i would run to it.

 

It was stated in an interview (Ill see if I can find it) that Sora and Riku were on one shore of the "sea," and AtW and Aqua were all the way across on the other side.
