So I'm scrapping my Sora sig for a little while, but I found this Tifa render I love and decided to have some fun with it. I'm still not 100% pleased with it, I feel it's lacking something. Oh, and I made her eyes brighter.
I know what you mean about the right side. I used the render as my color, and I decided to see what I could do with the color of Tifa's face. I tried to make it look fiery/explosion-ish but unfortunately I failed a bit. I tried using a flamebrush, but didn't turn out too good.
Well I like this one quite a bit more than the Sora & Kairi one. One thing I think you should read up on are the basics of composition. There are tons of great tutorials out there on this, and don't limit yourself to ones just about sigmaking--I've found ones on Photography are also very helpful! Here's one really amazing one, if you don't feel like searching. A Guide to Photoshop & Sigmaking: covers basic terms, stock choice, focal points, depth, flow, color, composition, text, lighting, concepts, style, texture, and more. Moving onto the tag, specifically - I think your biggest problem here is the focal point. I want my eyes to be drawn to Tifa, as I'm assuming you were trying to make her the subject, but I'm distracted by the big fireball. It is, technically, visually balanced, but my eye doesn't know where to look first. I do think that the background is pretty interesting looking though. Are those C4Ds? Smudging? Either way, I think you should keep experimenting with it. =] Maybe try adding some filters or other techniques along with it, just so that it's not the same thing all over. Still, it's pretty nice! Keep playing around, and don't be afraid to look at some tutorials--that is, in my opinion, one of the number one ways to learn.
Thank you very much for the feedback :) I will take a look at the tuts. I used to know a lot more, but I haven't done anything the past year or so, so I'm a bit out of practice. I like experimenting with different effects, and you are right about the C4D being a part of the background. Basically what I've done is take the Tifa render, Ocean ripple it, Duplicate it, smudge (with the leaf scatter brush). So filter-wise I have used the Light Flare (with the eyes, I zoomed to 1600%, marked her eyes and duplicated with overlay) I did use Ocean ripple and blur But once again, thanks for the response, and the more I look at this one, the more I like it over the Sora and Kairi one. The Sora / Kairi was mostly to see if I could pull off a sig. suiting this side, but the more I think of it, it doesn't really matter. And I'm never afraid to look at tutorials ;)
I kinda like this, but back tracking on what misty say's is true. Also for the text, I wouldn't use BLENDING >> DROP SHADOW on the text. Instead just use overlay. As for the overall tag, I would use a gradient map color to help it blend in generally all together. Like a dark topaz color or what not. Not bad, kiddo.
