Site News Announcement regarding reputation.

To all members.

Due to some members now having rep values of almost 50 (as well as other reasons such as repwhoring and members abusing the de-rep system), we (the admins) have recently decided to alter the settings for rep value points.

Previously members rep value went up:

• 1 point every 50 days of being a member
• 1 point every 100 reputation points
• 1 point every 1000 posts

The new settings mean that rep value will increase:

• 1 point every 180 days of being a member (approximately every 6 months)
• 1 point every 200 reputation points
• 1 point every 1000 posts

​

NOTE: THIS WILL NOT AFFECT YOUR REPUTATION ITSELF, IT WILL ONLY AFFECT HOW MUCH YOU GIVE/TAKE AWAY WHEN YOU REP/DE-REP


Rules regarding rep will still apply, abuse of the system will be dealt with. ​

When I entered this thread I had high hopes for switching to the credit system, but meh. I could care less about rep.

 

Repwhoring will never be stopped, but this will either slow it down, or just make it worse.

It could make it worse by people who have a goal asking for rep from even more people, and abusing it even more.
It could slow it down by making people be like "bah screw it"

Points are the number of rep or derep you give to a user. As your own rep increases, your points also increase. So like right now if you get repped by CTR, it will increase by a lot more points then if you were repped by me.

 

Oh great. There goes my ability to give 100000000000 rep points.

Oh, so that's how it worked.

lol, I didn't really bother to care since I don like the rep system at all. But it's nice to get things cleared up after a long time. Thx RvR.
