On April 19, 1995, at 9:02am CDT, a Ryder rental truck full of fertilizer and several other elements driven by Timothy McVeigh exploded in front of the Alfred P. Murrah Federal Building in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. The blast killed 168 people, with around 20-30 being children in a daycare in the basement level of the building. McVeigh was caught around 2 hours later during a traffic stop, but it wasn't known it was him who did it until later. He was executed on June 11, 2001, at a federal prison in Terre Haute, Indiana. It remains the worst act of domestic terrorism in the USA, and was the worst act of terrorism in the US altogether until September 11, 2001.

These are some pictures of a memorial they built on the site of the building that I took.

The memorial museum, in the old newspaper building which was heavily damaged in the bombing.

The Survivor Tree, which was a tree that survived the blast even though the blast was equal to 4,000 pounds of TNT.

Several rows of chairs, each chair representing 1 death in the tragedy.

The 9:01 gate, representing when the Ryder truck was driven up next to the building and set off.

The 9:03 gate, representing when the bomb went off destroying most of the building.

Ah yes, I live in Oklahoma but it's been a long time since I've been to this memorial... Very nice photos, my favorite I think is the one of the chairs and the reflections on the water. It definitely captures the solemn respect the memorial pays to those who lost their lives in such a terrible attack.
