    • ~Prologue~
      "The War for Earth"
Humanity has officially perfected advanced space travel and the terraformation of other planets. However, the quick technological advances in intergalactic sciences brought humanity to the attention of the alien race called the "Swarm." The Swarm was a giant mechanical species whose own technology greatly shadowed humanity's. However, the human's quick evolution to mastered space travel caused the Swarm to invade Earth with the plan of assimilating humanity into their ranks. Fortunately, as often is the case, humans fought with their strongest weapon: their force of will. With Earth's refusal to give up, humanity was able to build gigantic robots to combat the Swarm. Over the next ten years, the War for Earth expanded to the other planets in our Solar System as Earth pushed back the Swarm. However, the Swarm refused to give up and its seemingly-unending army was starting to severely damage the Earth.
Using the war as a diversion, Earth's leaders sent several colonies to other planets with the goal to terraform and colonize them as new homes for humanity, away from the Swarm. The Swarm's leaders were too busy fighting Earth forces to notice the departure of the colonies. One of these colonies landed on a planet similar to Earth, but with no civilization. The atmosphere of this new planet, dubbed "Elseworld," was so similar to Earth that the humans were able to terraform it with ease. However, Elseworld was covered almost completely in wilderness and the native animals of Elseworld were extremely large and hostile. The new humans of Elseworld, now calling themselves Elseworlders, built their civilization as several large domed cities throughout Elseworld with the dome protecting them from the native animals. The moon of Elseworld, Anesidora, had a similar surface to Elseworld and was also colonized, but for another purpose.

      "The Oversoul Era"

Throughout both Elseworld and Anesidora, ruins of ancient civilization -seemingly destroyed long ago- were found. In these ruins, large robots, widely different from those originally used by humanity, were found decayed and inactive. The robots, or "Mechas," had cockpits in them, implying that the original inhabitants of Elseworld built and piloted them. Elseworlders began to reverse engineer and rebuild these Mechas while incorporating their own robot technology into them, using them for their own purposes.
Over time, it was discovered that living on Elseworld has granted humans a new ability: the power to solidify a piece of one's own soul into a "Crystal Key." When the Crystal Key was used on a pilot's personal Mecha, the Mecha's full capabilities were unlocked, giving it extra abilities. Thus, though anybody could pilot any Mecha, only the owner of the Crystal Key could use its full potential, the Oversoul.
Because most of the Mechas had combat capabilities, it was decided that Mecha Pilots would be trained for war and sent to join Earth's Space Military to defeat the Swarm and take back their former planet. Thus, the Anesidora Mecha Military Academy was built.
The Anesidora Mecha Military Academy is a massive military school build on Anesidora. The Mecha Academy trains students in the art of Mecha piloting, forming their own Crystal Key, building a Mecha, and teaches them how to be soldiers in the War of Earth. Graduates are then sent to Earth's Solar System to join the Earth Space Military and defeat the Swarm. Some graduates, however, do stay on Elseworld to protect the domed cities from the natural threats.
It has now been 600 years since the Swarm first invaded Earth and humanity migrated to Elseworld. Though the War for Earth is still ongoing, humans have successfully pushed the Swarm away from Earth and have been engaged in combat on the other planets, such as Mars, Jupiter, and Saturn. Earth is in constant communication with Elseworld, whose graduating pilots continue to join the Space Military to fight the Swarm. Unfortunately, there is unrest on Elseworld; Some leaders are arguing that Earth should be forgotten for life on Elseworld in order to advance as a new civilization while others believe that if the Swarm isn't stopped at Earth, they will eventually find Elseworld as well.
With the War for Earth at a fragile point and Mecha Pilots being the changing factor, Elseworld is in danger of entering its first civil war. This is the story of one group of students, the "Wingers," and their role in discovering Elseworld's past, preserving Earth's present, and saving humanity's future.

    • ~The Mecha Academy~

The Anesidora Mecha Military Academy (Mecha Academy, for short) is a large military school built on the moon of Elseworld. It is a boarding school whose students are trained to be Mecha Piloting soldiers. While most graduates depart to fight in the War for Earth, the upperclassmen are tasked with defending the domed cities of Elseworld from dangerous monsters.
Due to the wide range of technology salvaged from Elseworld's original civilization and the current state of humanity's own technology, the Mecha Academy can easily build any form of Mecha for all of its students. Students are taught to pilot a generic Mecha called an Automaton until the perfect Mecha for them could be built. Most students are unable to create a Crystal Key until they spend a great amount piloting their own Mecha.
Students live in the dorms with whomever they wish, but generally, the entirety of one Squad usually stays within one building. Mechas are stored in hangars underneath each dorm. Squad Commanders live in their own quarters and, unlike students, are allowed to leave Anesidora and travel to Elseworld whenever they please. Aside from students and Squad Commanders, there are also Generals: pilots who are not Squad Commanders (teaching students), but are still part of either the Space Military or Security Force. Generals tend to travel freely between the Academy (to aid teaching students), Elseworld (to aid the Security Force), and Earth's Solar System (to fight with the Space Military). Like Generals, some Squad Commanders are actual war veterans that have chosen to teach instead of fight.
The Mecha Academy is not divided by age, year, or class. Upon enrolling, students are placed in a "Squad." Each Squad takes all of its classes together under leadership from one Squad Commander. The Squad is taught several subjects such as Mecha Piloting, Elseworld Creatures, The War for Earth, Oversoul Mechanics, Swarm Studies, and more. Students in a Squad, however, are classified by level:
      • F5: The entry level. These students are fresh and not trusted with any form of Mecha.
      • D4: Upon passing a written test, virtual simulation, and a psychological profile, students are given an Automaton and entrusted with a standard laser pistol.
      • C3: After enough experience with an Automaton, students gain their own personal Mecha and are allowed another weapon of their own choosing.
      • B2: This classification is given to students who have created their Crystal Key and have unlocked Oversoul. This is the necessary level for graduation.
      • A1: An optional classification given to exceptional students. A1 students can be chosen for individual missions without their Squads and are offered special positions in the Earth Space Military and Elseworld Security Forces.
      • S0: A classified level that is known only to exist. Its details are unknown to most. There is currently only one known S0 student.

    • ~Mechas~

      ^Automaton^
Mechas are the evolution of giant robots used by humanity on Elseworld. Originally, humanity had built enormous machines to pilot to combat the Swarm's own mechanical forces. On Elseworld, humans were able to salvage, study, reverse engineer, and incorporate the ancient ruins of a civilization to create "Mechas," personalized and large robots all capable of space travel. Anesidora's Mecha Military Academy was built to train Mecha pilots.
Upon advancing at the Mecha Academy for the first time, students are granted an Automaton (pictured above), a generic robot usable by anybody. Though extremely durable and decently fast, the Automaton's only combat capabilities are the hidden guns built into the torso (on each side of the cockpit) and the double barrel guns on each arm. However, the Automaton is extremely inferior to almost any actual Mecha and considered obsolete. Thus, the Automaton is only meant for "freshman" students. After enrolling into the Mecha Academy, students are watched closely and their piloting skills are studied after they are given their Mecha. Upon entering level C3, the perfect Mecha is built for students based off of their personality and piloting style, with the students' own input. The Automaton is then encouraged to be given back to the Mecha Academy, though the option to keep the obsolete, inferior, generic, and default machine is available.
At level C3, every student gets their own personal Mecha, built and suited to their tastes. Due to this, Mechas vary greatly in both appearance and functionality, but they are all capable of space travel and combat. After enough time piloting their Mechas, students are able to solidify an actual shard of their soul into a Crystal Key. Once used by its owner, the Crystal Key activates the Mecha's "Oversoul," unleashing its full abilities. Oversouls vary between Mechas and can range from anything to a special attack to a new ability to transformation, combination, disassembling, and more. However, the pilot's body is mystically connected to the Mecha via his/her soul and is placed in peril, thus Oversoul cannot remain activated for long. Crystal Keys and Oversoul are a mystical concept originating in Elseworld and can only be used by Mechas incorporating Elseworld's original technology and cannot be predicted nor intentionally programmed into a Mecha.
