She hasn't been there the entire time but this reminded me of my kitty Ginger. I can remember when we found her in our backyard. She was tiny and eating birdseed since she was so desperate for food. She's a tiny little thing still and a general pain in the neck. But she's been with me since at least junior high. And she listened to quite a few of my rantings and was always there for a hug when I needed it.

I will be inconsolable when she isn't there. Same with my other cats.

I've got 3 dogs and one is 11 years old.

    I'm 19 now, so I got him when I was 8.
I remember picking him and everything. Definitely a friend for life. :)

Wtf, what's up with the room?

When he was a kid, there wasn't some kind of door opening. In the next pic the room behind him is different.

    Just wondering.

I think it's actually a different room/house that he set up to look similar for the picture... At least I get that impression from looking closely (different background, different bookcase, different color paint etc.). I can't say for sure of course though, haha.

When I was twelve, I picked out a kitten from the shelter. Note, this was during the time when I was severely depressed.

I f*cking loved that cat. It was my baby.

    He ran away this summer and I'm still pretty heartbroken. ;_________;

Funny thing is, this is technically TheAstarion's thread.

I hate having to say goodbye to my pets...
I had this one dog since I have memories. Bonnie, her name was, a big spaniel-looking dog. I forget what she was a crossbreed of, but she was about the size of a labrador, but built like a cocker spaniel.
She had to be put down a good few years ago now. I won't ever deny that I cried a lot over it. She was, exactly like Cat<3 Sora said, a sister to me.

I don't even remember when we got my dogs, expect the two most recent. Having five dogs isn't easy. But they just came around somehow.

    I still love them all.

My dog is going on 16 and I've had him since I was like 5. I even gave up a potentially huge Christmas a few years back so he could get back surgery. Currently doing everything I can to save in case he needs it again because my parents won't be able to pay for it on their own.

Yeah, I linked the pic (which has now fallen off the internet... I shoulda imgur'd it). Every repost is a repost repost, so I can't take credit for that either.

I'm sad to say that I've never had a pet that's done more than eat, swim and poo. We're a fish family, I guess. The companionship of an animal that accepts you into its clan in spite of your species is something I'll have to wait to find. Maybe one day I'll be a crazy cat lady. I'll have to become a lady first though...

The thing about this is that dogs are only friendly because they have been ingrained with the notion that getting you to like them is a great way to stay alive.

    That is the only reason.
