AMV Help

I've been trying to make a Kingdom Hearts AMV using Headstrong by Trapt, but I'm only a minute through and I've almost run out of good clips I could use. I'm thinking of either making one half of the video Birth By Sleep Clips and the other half KH2 clips, or reusing clips I've already put in. I don't like reusing, but if I need to I will. What do you guys think? I can't continue till I figure this out

I wonder how you managed to use all your material in just one minute... you must be using some pretty quick changes.
But dont use same pieces more than once. Use others. If you think there cutscenes are not enough for the subject of the video, you might want to consider expanding the theme with more parts from the cutscenes.

 

Well, it took me 3 hours to get 1 minute done. I still have almost 4 minutes to go. But the subject isn't a person or whatever, I usually use clips that work with the lyrics, but that's exactly the problem. I'm having trouble finding clips that work well with the lyrics. That's why I was thinking of adding another game to the mix

Edit: I sometimes focus on a certain person, but I haven't done one of those in a while

 

If you have 4 more minutes, and have already ran out of scenes, start using from bbs.

 

I started with BBS. What I'm saying is if I can't find enough scenes, should I switch to another game within the halfway mark or something

 

Yeah, either switch to another game or you could just cut it short, that's what I do sometimes.

Don't reuse though unless it's repeated lyrics e.g. the chorus or you disguise it in a way to make it look different- like mirroring.

 

Anyone know how to mirror on WLMM? But headstrong has the chorus more times than anything, that's the main reason I'm having trouble.

 

That's not gonna be enough at all. My cutscene collection is 8.53 gigabytes and I'm finding that I run out of clips sometimes too.

 

Well, I figured you were just talking about my BBS clips. I've got 356/2, Re:Chain of memories, KH, and KHII as well

 

I really think you should do everything in your power to avoid repeating clips, even if you're running low on footage. If the song is too long, try splicing it and making a custom cut out of it.
If you're running out of clips you may consider using less sharp cuts (focusing a little more on flow) to save material. For a song like that it's kind of difficult, so you could also try adding effects to clips to make them appear different on certain beats (i.e. zoom in on guitar riffs or something).
As for mirroring, go to the Visual Effects tab and scroll until you see the 'Mirror' heading. There's an option for both vertical and horizontal. =]

 

If you've already used up most of your clips in less than a minute, then maybe you should rethink on how you're going edit the video. Not every beat needs to be synced to something and you don't have to a scene match to the lyrics every time. A jumble of clips most of the time does not look good. You got to have them flow together as well.

Yeesh, then thank you that I don't sync with every beat. That would be a nightmare.

 

Ah, basically, instead of hitting a drumbeat by switching clips, you'd hit it by (for example) fading into the same clip zoomed-in or something for emphasis, thus saving footage.
