I've viewed several different forums and it seems that many people found Xaldin extremely hard. This very much surprised me since I for one found him to be on the easy side. I remember on my first play through, I beat him on my first try. I always enjoy fighting him cause he is just so fun to fight in my opinion. It has gotten to the point that whenever I play him now, I totally own him!

My strategy is simple. level up your drive forms so you have the aerial dodge, the dash thing, and the high jump available in your normal form. then you start the battle off aerial dodging past Xaldin while constantly pressing triangle. this way you can stack the jump tech that you obtain from the reaction command, you can only stack it up to nine though. once it is stacked as high as possible then just use the jump command till it is used up and throw a combo at him using normal aerial attacks. If you have trained hard enough like I always do, then you should have already have knocked his health down to just a few bars left, maybe even less! now he should be teleporting all over the place. be sure to aerial dodge away when he is about to appear near you. what you do now is just keep stacking the jump tech.

dash away when he glows cause then he is invincible; he should then transform his spears into that dragon thing he rides. this leads into that giant wind attack of his. blocking this is very simple. if you are out of magic be sure to use an eather while Xaldin is riding his spears. when that wind attack is about to hit you all you need to do is combo your reflect magic tech (you should always have this on you shortcuts. it blocks whatever you cant block with your keyblade!) two combos should be enough but you can use three to be safe. by doing this you should come out unharmed from that attack.

once you feel you have enough jump techs stacked up, then just use them on Xaldin and ta dah, you win. it's a bit trickier on the data battle, but it is generally the same idea.

but anyway Xaldin has always been among my favorite fights. am I alone here?

To be honest I didnt think he was too tricky, although I did die once on him... however Mickey saved me. xD

That dragon thing was a bit of a pain but his pattern of attacks were easy to get used to and I was fine by then.

I beat him easily on my first play through, but then when I played through it again on a harder difficulty I was beat by him which was surprising seeing how everything else was just as easy as the first time I played through.

Xaldin = Death for me on any mode. It's his speed and how strong his attacks are. Plus, how you have to wait for him to attack to set up the reaction command. I'd be standing there waiting for it and then once it comes, I'd press triangle as many times as I can and then try and dodge, but most of the time I'd be unsuccessful. And then when he's almost dead, the whole thing where he starts following you around surrounded by wind and then the dragon. He'd always endlessly link those two together once I got to that point. Strangely enough, my first playthrough I never got saved by Mickey, not once. I didn't even know you could until I restarted on Standard and lost to Xaldin.

My first battle... oh boy, I was so nervous! My friend was like, "Stock up on a lot of high postions! Like a lot!" But then when I actually got to the battle, it was surprisingly easy. Maybe because I got lucky after I did some dumb mistakes, but I still got through it.

Meh... Xaldin isn't too hard. I find Xigbar much harder. The most annoying thing about Xaldin's battle is that dragon, but once you aquired High jump and Areal Dodge, it should be avoidable.

I know, right? Xaldin was easy for me, but when it came to Xigbar I died so many times. I still like fighting him though.

Xaldin was difficult for me on my first run-through, but that was because I was still getting used to the whole reaction command thing -- I never really relied on them in any of the other fights, and they were foreign to me when Xaldin came. I had a lot of trouble with Xigbar, too... Although I recently played through again and Xaldin was easy.

And I think people complain about Xaldin because they don't have the paitience to level up their Drive Forms.

I would have to agree with you on that. yeah leveling up drive forms is so annoying!!!!! but you gotta love what you get out of it!

I fared better than I thought I would, but I still considered him hard. While I think you'd be in the minority, I doubt you'd be the only one who considered him easy.

I was maybe a bit 'over-levelled' when I fought them, but I found Xaldin and Xigbar really easy. As long as I kept my eye on them and their attacks, I had no problems, I just kept a safe distance and used limit-commands a lot...
Demyx and Luxord where the hardest for me.

Nah, Xaldin was easy specially if you have the double jump ability, although that attack with the dragon was a lil' bit tricky.

No, However the dragon attack was a pain, Micky was a life saver and I killed him without dying (ok, Micky helped :-P ) I just used the lances against him A LOT. Only Boss I found hard in KH2 was Xigbar. . . .

With Mickey, I actually lost to Xaldin. I was close to beating him, but close wasn't good enough. In the second fight, Mickey never showed up and I won.

To be honest, most boss fights are difficult for me because I'm almost always underleveled. Har! Har! Har!

If you kept your eye on him, he wasn't that bad, but if you lost track of him, you'd get pwned. I just hated how you couldn't really get too close to him because of the spear things. Wisdom Form. was defiantly my friend in that fight. So what I'm really trying say is that to me he wasn't easy but not horribly hard either. Maybe I'm weird, but I found Hades harder. O.o

i thought that Xaldin was rather disappointingly easy as well. i beat him on first try, i used Wisdom Form and shot him from across the bridge, while also using Magic attacks as finshers sometimes. i knew about the reactions but at the time, i didn't get how it worked so i just used Wisdom Form.
