For all those who have played FFXIII-2; why at the end of the game does Noel not simply disappear? He is from a time in the distant future, a future where Cocoon has fallen and destroyed the land. Thus the sum of his existence would be the Ultimate Paradox wouldn't it? Even if his family line would have ended up the same he still would be a much different person as well as obviously wouldn't have been the last human on Gran Pulse. So why then was there no sad "you saved my future, now a better place awaits" type ending. He didn't even say anything throughout the game about what would happen to him if they were able to stop the fall of Cocoon. From watching other shows with time travel wouldn't a change that drastic in effect him?

It's implied that he may have gotten the Heart of Chaos from Caius regardless of his strength of will or whatever, meaning that he would be able to survive any such paradox.

Alternatively, the entire game was a Shaggy Dog Story; they changed nothing, and their actions throughout the game caused Noel to be the last human in the first place.

I don't understand this term (check your quote and no they did change stuff. They WOULD have made the world a better place because Hope was able to trandsend the through the timeline and finish Bhunivelze (which I freaked when Hope said this name) But Serah and Noel "killed" Caius. And who's heart of chaos would Noel have if the Goddess died anyway?

Well yes, some things were changed from their actions, but the entire thing overall didn't seem to change, on accounts that in the end, Academia became, or at least seemed to become, Valhalla, and time ended anyway when Cocoon fell. Despite being slightly different to how Noel initially explains it, it does match up in quite a few ways.

And I meant Caius's Heart of Caius, in that killing the holder of the Heart transfers it to you unless you have the resolve to resist it, from what Caius himself says. However, it's completely possible that just because Noel had the strength to resist it doesn't mean he didn't get some of it's effects.
Another possibility that I failed to mention is that time stopping (which admittedly happened shortly after one would expect him to disappear) is what is preventing him from doing so, and that XIII-3 would have that sort of ending.

True, but if time stopping is whats keeping him "here" then shouldn't he have faded before Serah died? Because she died seeing the huge change in the time line (which was the fact that Cocoons fall didn't mean the "end" of the world) (I put quotes because it still would have ravaged Gran Pulse but everyone was ready for its so all is well)) which should have made Noel vanish because his future changed. Time should have "caught up with him"
