What will become of the kh series once Xehanort has been defeated. Will they continue on with a new arch enemy or will the series end there.

Hopefully the 1st choice since this series is too damn good! If so lets all hope its Pete who is granted immense God Like power.... I hate that SoB.

    State your opinion?

Nomura has named the current games the Xehanort saga, implying future games after Xehanort's defeat

I think it might continue, but not Pete. Seriously Pete won't make that good an antagonist. He's too dumb, and cartoonish to do it. (by cartoonish I mean the normal cartoon villains that have insane schemes that never succeed). A new antagonist for KH would probably be someone who wishes to upset the balance. A common idea, which I really like, would be someone who's too much into the light, that he/she wishes to purge all darkness thus upsetting the balance.

why would you want someone you hate to be the villain? if you hate them you should want them out of the story

I would like to see a new antagonist. If we do see one he needs to not be a Xehanort wannabee. He really needs to find his own identity as a villain, meaning none of this 50 versions of the same person stuff. If we get a new main antagonist pretty much everything needs to be new.

@cse2311 - For bonus gray-morality points, make him/her a well-intentioned extremist (similar to N from Pokemon) rather than a "true" villain like MX. Maybe someone who, like TAV, has suffered greatly from Darkness, eventually snapping. Additionally, have him/her treat followers with Sora-like respect, contrasting MX's "use/discard"-approach.

I doubt there are many people who hate Kefka. I'm pretty sure most people love him as a villain, though I'm only going by what I've seen and heard, and I don't actually know that for myself. That said, there is a difference between a person you love to hate, and a person you actually hate. I hate Pete. I would love it if he just wasn't in the story at all. I love to hate Xehanort. He is a terrible person, but he works as a villain and I wouldn't want him out of the story, just like I'm sure most people wouldn't want Kefka out of FFVI, because he is a great character, and because they don't hold him in the same regard as Pete.

hatred is hatred. Honestly, if a character is bad and you want them gone, hate isn't really the best word to use to express that.

There can be different forms of hatred, like there are different forms of love. You can love someone like a sibling, love the idea of the person (AKA: idolizing), and you can love someone as in happily-ever-after true love. Similarily, you can hate what a character stands for and what they do to the world (Xehanort), but they're such well-crafted villians with such deep personalities that you can't imagine the series without them. You can also hate a character's personality, morality, and generally every characteristic of them because they're horrible characters and the series would probably be better off without them (Pete).

Pete is simply a lackey, except this lackey was lucky enough to have a name and face. His role could have been filled by any other character mold, like the Cowardly Soldier type or the Acquaintance-turned-bad type.

That said, a new villian would be wonderful. I hope I can hate them as much as I hate Xehanort. ^-^
