A Lady for Sora's Laddy ?

Will Riku ever have a love interest ? Does he need one ? Okay he probably does, but when he's all old and stuff. What I mean is, will there ever be a girl in KH that Riku falls for ?
The three are like an unbreakable trio. Wouldn't it be kinda weird if a girl randomly appeared so late in the Xehanort saga ?
Will there be other legends where perhaps that girl plays an important role ?

Imo, I don't think KH needs another couple. But it would be cute. Because Riku isn't really like that and after being swallowed by darkness and through everything, it would be nice for him to meet a girl who gives him the fuzzies. It's not necessary though, and how would she floss her way into the storyline ? That would be complicated.

Anyway, let's talk about his possible love interests and whether or not there should be a girl created who Riku will like.

 

Well no one "needs" a girl; not every character needs to end with some sort of pairing. While I do think it could be a sweet arc for Riku, I can't really see it happening, especially because the Sora/Kairi relationship really isn't anything completely canon at this point. As far as we know, Riku may have feelings for Kairi! I did get serious Riku/Naminé vibes from Chain of Memories, but I think the overall Riku/Kairi relationship is more akin to a platonic older brother situation. He's protective of her before anything. Any... flirtatious attitudes towards Kairi on his part was just to mess with Sora, I think, and to just nudge Sora as long.

Or maybe yaoi fangirls will get their wish and Riku and Sora will have sloppy makeouts--I mean.

As I said, though, I don't think it's likely. Romantic relationships seem to build slowly in the Kingdom Hearts series, if at all. There's not exactly a viable female cruising about for Riku, hah.

 

Personally, I don't think Riku needs anybody else. Hell, I don't think anybody besides Sora needs a love interest. The only reason I can see RoxasxNamine is because they're Nobodies of Sora and Kairi so they could have lingering feelings from those two towards each other. However, if Riku were to get one, I'm all for RikuxXion if Xion becomes a whole person in herself, but I want some development for it. Not just throwing in a scene in the end of the game with one of them kissing the other and everyone getting a happy ending.

The thing I like about Riku is after KH1 he learned that he doesn't need Kairi to make his life happier, he's happy that his bro Sora gets to be with a amazing girl. Riku kind of gets bad luck throughout the series, but I think when the series ends, if it ever ends, he's just going to say to himself "you know what, I've done everything I've ever wanted, I was chosen to wield a Keyblade, I got to see other worlds, I got to hold power that I couldn't even imagine, I fought along side my bud as we saved every world, I've made alot of new friends along the way, I got to see my bud fall in love, its been one rough journey, but its been fun" he's determined and doesn't give up on what he wants. He learns that he already has a happy life, what more could he ask for? And like Misty said, his relationship for Kairi is not a romatic one, its more like an older brother relationship, I think he would be happy if his bro for life Sora were to get together with someone he could call a sister.

 

Honestly, I don't think Riku has the right setting at the moment to have a girl. Even if he did, it would take at least 3 games to develop it into a full relationship. Hell, SoraxKairi took, what, 15 years? I can picture RikuxXion, but it ain't gonna happen, simply because Xion will not get a real form because

I mean, sure. We can all picture it, but unless she magically gets put in somebody living, it ain't happening. I mean sure it'd be interesting, but still, be real. It doesn't look like it's happening but who knows? Maybe Nomura with get inspired and bring in someone for Riku, but personally? I doubt it.

I would love the whole Riku x Xion thing going on...but I doubt that'll happen. There's the slight chance, but yknow.
Sometimes it's kinda like, Riku is the type of character who's meant to be the "lone wolf". Not the kind that needs a lady;p
And like I said, SoRiKai is kinda like a threesies thing. Adding in Xion is kinda..random. Haha.

My personal belief is that unless they can make a story at the last second to back it up (or it's a new girl who comes along, either way), assuming that Riku DOES have a love interest sometime in the game, it would more than likely cause plot holes, canon-wise. Plus, I think the relationship between Sora and Kairi is enough, as nice as it would be, it would cause alot of questions and explaining in the story that would make the game longer than intended, since the whining gamers are very hard to please nowadays. Plus, fanon-wise, it will cause a huge shitstorm among the fangirls, and possible threatening emails towards Square Enix.

As someone else mentioned, Riku is happy the way he is now, as revealed towards the end of KH1, I think that him finding a love interest would be nice, but a little contradictory.

 

I don't think that Riku is going to end up with anybody and they might not even show Sora and Kairi kiss and just carry on *hinting * it throughout the series. Kingdom Hearts is more of a friendship game in my mind. That friendship is important and that friendship gives you power in sorts of amazing ways than just being friends. The Sora/ Kairi romance is just really slighty hinted and in other games they would of really kissed by now.

Riku doesn't really need anybody right now anyways. He's been through alot and I don't think he's ready for another chance at love or romance. Maybe when he's way older, but not now.

 

I don't think Riku is gonna have any girl friends, just because of his personality. So fangirls, he's all yours.

 

I made a thread before saying that Aqua looks no different from now to then. Aging practically stopped for her and Ven so that could mean it is plausible.

 

I still think it's 1% possible, LOL.
