The idea came across me when I finally realized,
    Fanfictions end.....

And with the ending of a fanfiction,
comes the obliteration of the thread.

After a few months or so,
what may have been the greatest fanfiction ever:
    is toast.

So I suggest that a wikia or something very similar be
made so that such great authors like:
    Shades
    Destiny Force
    I Love Axel,
    and other such greats,
compile their works in one place,
this way the stories will forever be readable.

Plus, this would make the fanfictions easier to read
    time after time,
and you wouldn't have to worry about:
What page was the last chapter on..?

Because it would be all story and no fanposts.

This is by far one of the easier kinds
    of suggestions,
and will keep great fanfictions that
make this site even better like:
    D_F'S Wedding and SWITCHED! Fanfics

Shades: Destined, Sacrifice, and Disney Chronicles

    And other great stories that
    are either finished,
or growing ever so much closer to being finished.

And it doesn't even have to be a wikia.
    It could be something different.

Just so long as writers can compile their stories there.

ICSP created somewhat of a list on that was stickied on the CC main page, only problem is few writers updated it.

    Not exactly what I meant.

    Just because IC compiled those
    fanfictions
    in one place,
doesn't save them from being hit with a delete hammer,
and there's still fanposts that both
keep the story running, but as a con,
makes you forget where you were in the storyline.

You can easily favourite your enjoyed FF's, or subscribe to the thread to read it whenever, OR ask permission to save the fiction to a word document on your computer.

    Edit: better Idea!

Why not make a sticky thread in Creativity corner
where the major writers who have finished their story,
can compile them all in one post.

This could be done by the author Multi-Quoting
all of the chapters in their story.

    Even better,
    the thread wouldn't be overcrowded
    because the writer would have
    to finish the story first.

This idea is much better than my last,
because it will still feature the FF
    on this site,
no great story will ever be totally wiped
    from history,
and it will easily be favoritable.

    The only con:
    The individual posts will be
    veeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeery
    long.

But that's the magic of scroll bar for you...xD

    Anyway,
    this idea I got from
    re-reading D_F's 'Wedding'
    FF,
and that's when it hit me.

    Beside the point,
    I did this entire edit,
    in a dark room,
    at night,
    without looking at the keyboard.
    I'm that good a typist.....xD

Or y'know...Linking to each individual FF so the info thread for the fictions isn't god awfully long >.>.

Since most smart writers would update the first post in their thread anyway, because no one likes looking through a thread for individual chapters.

I'd have to agree with Beat here. Just update ICSP's catalog or make a new one if need be with finished stories. If the author wishes to have the story posted there, they'd need to have it all in the first post and finished. That way you could just link to it instead of posting it all in a ridiculously long thread.

If a thread is linked there and it was a popular story, it's most likely to just be closed to prevent spam after it's finished instead of deleted like you said. But that might not even happen because since there's no red there at the moment it's not being watched too intently.

I say jus' link 'em. I'm sure the writers have then saved anyway, if it somehow gets deleted they can just repost n' give a new link. :]

I dunno...there are a lot of fan fictions.

I have to agree with BaseSebastion though. His idea on it is basically what I would have said too. It's a pretty good idea.

Ok... I don't think there is anything wrong with my catalog... but I was thinking of making it total self service, and having the writers update it themselves. I wanted to keep the thread clean of spam of all types, which is why I opted for the PM solution... however I think members tend to shy away from PMing someone they don't know, so they opt not to PM me afraid they will bug me.

But I supose if every writer was limited to one post on the catalog thread, it would be a clean and easy reference, as well as achieve its current goal more efficiently.

Also, I think a total wikidia where all the Fan Fics were posted on one post would be WAYYYY to long.

In fact, longer fics would probaby manage to break the letters per post cap.

I'm afraid I must admit to the "IdontWANTtoBOTHERicspABOUTmyFANFIC"
symptom common to most people who contacted him about the catalog.

And Frankly, my idea wouldn't take over IC's idea
because he still would have all of the current Fanfics,
and the Sticky thread I'm talking about would have a few old ones that are close to finishing.

But as for the catalog going to be self-service:
I salute you for making it easier on us writers!

I did somethin' like this for kh-v based stories (i dunno if it's still there).

All you have to do it link the post of the link of the single post the story is in. Perhaps give a quick intro to the story n' who wrote it.

Let a member of staff create the thread n' lock it. If a writer wants their story in the list then they can PM that member of staff with the link etc. Have it stickied as well.

You don't have to make it complicated.
