A girl made eye contact with me on the bus today.

Did you two make out right then and there? You must have had a weird look in your eyes if that didn't happen.

I was only half serious about that, as I'm sure you're aware.
Actually, I forced myself to resist that temptation. I'm polite like that.

it must suck knowing that your kids will be born from a woman who you met on a bus: the worst (or most disgusting) form of motorized transportation ever.

I rode one once and swore I'd never do it again.

You get to be the wedding planner, though!
What the hell kind of bus did you ride? The buses that I take are always very well maintained and generally have plenty of room even when they're filled to capacity. I actually like taking the bus. It's easier than driving and I don't have to pay for insurance, gas, or any other maintenance expenses. It's a tad overpriced where I live (Seriously, why the hell am I paying $64 a month when the city just North of us has the same deal for $25 a month), but it's still a hell of a lot cheaper than driving.

Also, did you now that one bus is not necessarily indicative of every bus? I know it sounds crazy, but think about how likely it is that every bus ever is as disgusting as the only bus you've ever ridden. Are you really that closed minded?

I go on a bus like twice daily, I've gone on buses nearly all my life. You do get some that are terrible but if they're well maintained then they're not bad at all. Though admittedly with my last post I was more commenting on your typo 'bust' instead of 'bus' that you've since editted out.

Ignoring how ridiculous and inaccurate you assumption that someones assessment of an entire transportation system based on one experience is close minded, I didn't mean that I've only ridden one one time. I've ridden them multiple times. I've ridden on those luxury buses, I've ridden on them for sporting events, I've ridden them in a city, and most recently, and the one that I decided I wouldn't ride them again, a school bus. None of the experiences were pleasant, and none of them (aside from the luxury one) were nice enough to make the pay off of not having to drive to being in a confined space with strangers that have who knows what disease and who knows what kind of background worth it. I meant that after I rode a bus one time, I decided I would never do it again, as every previous experience had built up my dislike for them, and that one time was the one that left me with enough dislike to not ride them at all. If you can stomach the idea of being in a relatively small space with many strangers like I said, then be my guest, and if that is your only option for transportation, I'm sorry for misfortune, but I am neither obligated nor willing to ride a bus, and until the time comes where there is no other option I intend to never ride them again.

It's not ridiculous to think that someone would do that, though. I'm not sure if you've noticed, but 90% of all humans (I'm using hyperbole of course, but that's beside the point) are closed minded morons who form opinions regarding things that they know nothing about. I apologize for thinking you were the same, but you haven't shown any evidence of being different until now.
You should have worded that more clearly in your original post, then. To anybody who reads it without that context, it looks like you rode one bus one time and just went, "NOPE."
I feel very sorry for you if your bus system is that horrible. I usually have a full two seats to myself and even when somebody has to sit next to me, I have plenty of space to myself. This is a bus system that's made to be affordable to people below the poverty line, so your public bus system is clearly doing to something very wrong. I agree with you on school buses, though. Ever since I learned to use the public bus system, I left the school bus and never looked back. When graduation came around, I didn't have to worry about a thing regarding my daily commute.

I guess that just shows how different our priorities are, then. I'm fine with sacrificing a little bit of comfort in order to save a couple hundred dollars a month. It also has the added bonus of being able to read or otherwise entertain myself on the way to class. I can't do that if I have to pay attention to the road. If I remember my state's laws correctly, it's also illegal.

As long as I'm capable of getting to and from Columbus State Community College by 1:30 PM on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, I couldn't care less about the quality of my commute. Well, I could care less, but that's not as powerful of a statement.[DOUBLEPOST=1361848175][/DOUBLEPOST]
Well of course they're not discussing anything. Buses can't talk.

Oh, it was further than that. We maintained eye contact for for four whole seconds. I may as well have given her the key to my house!

    I haven't been on a bus in years. Even longer if we're just talking local buses. I take the train cause;

    1) Its cheaper
    2) Its cleaner
    3) Its more reliable
    4) Its quicker

Buses are a menace to the roads.

Fair enough, I can't really go on trains for the travel I need to use daily and they are an awful lot more expensive. I find trains are better for long distance journeys but there aren't really trains to use for the local travel I need. Also I actually need to catch a bus to get to the train station. xD However I will say I much prefer trams, (my home city has a super tram system, which was very handy for me), which are like trains on a more local scale. Only problem is now I'm no longer a child, it's much cheaper for me to get a bus than a tram and I'm at university anyway, they don't have a tram system here.
