O.K. this is my first thread. so here it goes.

This thread is to discuss which you think is better, 3-D computer animation or traditional 2-D animation. Feature Films only. Games and T.V. doesn't count.

In my opinion 2-D looks better. the movement in it is normally is more believable. Compare Cinderella with Chicken Little.

I like both. 3-d animation is progressing a lot. So, I think that 3-d is better, but I like the traditional 2-d too.

I miss the old 2-D animation styles.

It's kinda depressing thinking that in another 10 or 20 years (if the Earth's still around by then), kids will be growing up to nothing but 3-D animation. Some of my happiest childhood memories are sitting infront of my old glass screen TV, watching and old Disney 2-D classic, like Peter Pan, or Robin Hood on VHS. The future Generations will only remember movies like Meet the Robinsons, or Chicken Little.

Don't get me wrong, I enjoy 3-D moives just as much, but somedays I just feel like watching a 2-D movie, it's kind of nostalgic.

Even though it's kinda off-topic...has anyone else noticed how Disney movies have steadily been going down-hill? Not in animation I mean, but in the story lines... or at least I think it has... but that's just my opinion...

I agree. they seem to be telling the same father & son story over and over again.
And what was the difference between Madagascar and The Wild, other than they were made by 2 different studios. Also I believe the over all quality of 3-D movies have back slided with a few exceptions: The Incredibles and the Shrek movies.

Over all I think 2-D is better if done well, however sadly today little of it is down well. It ussually requires more work, is brighter, to me more magical. Some things just don't work in 3-D, I can't really imagin watching Looney Tunes in 3-D it just doesn't work. 3-D is great, but it allows people to be lazy. Many companies producing 3-D today don't have a standards Pixar does, they try to make everything look too realistic and ignore style. I think 3-D has a place(FF AC:) ) but 2-D (Spritied Away) has a place too, and the industry has forgoten this.

2-D is superior to me. You can't really tell a serious story and have certain tones with 3-D (my opinion) I mean if Disney released a new 2-d movie in the style of Alan Menken and you compared that to chicken Little which of the 2 would be more important or memorable. I mean everyone at Disney has forgotten Chicken Little ever existed (and I'm with them) but they all remember the classic Alan Menken style movies of the 90s and the originals. Pixar will never be Disney and I'm not sorry for saying this either. Disney needs to go back and start puting in some full baked stuff again. Which gladly they are starting to do. I personally can not wait till Disney's The Frog Princess comes to theaters in 2009 to hopefully do what The Little Mermaid did in 1989.

I like 3D but 2D is still my favourite. I would hate to see that disappear.

3-D is cool and all, but I find that it makes me sick to my stomach...so...I suppose I like 2-D better.
