I can see why they would want to shut down 1up and Gamespy, as they fall under a similar umbrella to IGN. It's sad to hear all the same, though. IGN is a pretty terrible site (in my opinion), but still, sucks to lose your job.
I never really went on those websites, but when I did they weren't horrible. But IGN is biased, which is in turn biased me saying that. 1-up was the best out of them in my opinion, shame to see the websites go anyway.
