I started this drawing like... uhh... about 5 months ago... and It's not getting anywhere.. XD My friends keep buggin me to darw them pictures, so I started on this... In December.... <_<
Procrastination and lazyness is a good thing. =3

Well I got her down pretty well... Still haven't put in any sort or depth to it yet (obviously). I'll be leaving it for last. Putting in shadows now will only dirty my paper when I add more to it.
She is of course just one corner of the entire drawing, there's so much more in the background (which is still pending... in my mind... XD)
I'm not sure if I should color this... or keep it B&W
the setting btw in in EGYPT. Like I said... still working on the background. =]

The drawing looks pretty good so far. :3 With the right tools, this could become a really wonderful piece. I definatly recommend you to shade it, but promise me that you WON'T use your fingers to smudge it - it will only ruin it, smudging pencil art is a big nono. Crosshading will do wonders, and if you can get hold of different types of pencils you can get a good balance of light and dark/grey and black. (HB, 2B, 4B and 6B will work well combined)

Can't really help you with the background, but I recommend you look for references to inspire you - for the best result. Also, with backgrounds the perspective rules are extra importaint so keep that in mind.

If I were to change anything..... I'd want to define some toes on the foot closest to the viewer. Not much is needed, but the foot looks a little too twisted atm.

    Keep going! ^^

Wow, this is a really really nice start.
I would have to disagree about smudge shading. I think it can look decent if you do it properly. It takes practice for sure and is really only applicable to certain types of drawings.
Anyway, you've got a nice concept of anatomy... cool pose, and I love the bandaging. Can't wait to see more.

i do pencil smudge my drawings... but i don't use fingers. >_! i use Q-Tips.. those work pretty well i think.. but i think i'll use the pencils... but... WHERE CAN I GET THEM?? xP I'm really lost when it comes to buying art supplies. haha...

I've been looking for refrences EVERYWHERE. i want to have an original background... *sigh* which right now is really hard to come up w/.... i got a LOT on my mind.. >_>
I'll go through 2 MUMMY movies... and hope that i get something out of it. though im sure i want a statue of ANUBIS in there. =] cuz he's just damn sexy.

and i see what you mean by the 'twisted' foot.... I'll be fixin' that. =] Thank you!!

XD thnakx... lets just say that... uh... I had to do A LOT of mirror work... XD

My teacher always told us to only use the tools we had when it came to pencil drawings. All it takes is how lightly or hard you will control the pencil as you shade. Another tip is to use a rubber lump thingy meant to use on pencil and coal/chalks when you erase - they're very good, and won't get all that dark like a regular eraser would. I recommend that you look for one of those too. :3
You should be able to find them in stores that has art supplies. The ones who is all about art are the best to go to, as they will know about the stuff that they sell and how you can use them. But it might cost, I wouldn't know how the prices are in your country. But always stick to quality or the ones that you feel comfortable using. Another store you could try are book stores or ones for office equipment or similliar. Book stores that have pens and markers will also have pencils. But if you can find a store with cheap prices that sells a pack of such pencils, it wouldn't hurt to try them. It's just something you'll have to decide for yourself, but the pencils I tend to use says KOH - 1 - NOOR HARDTMUTH ~ TOISON D´OR and are in black and yellow on the outside.

If not movies, then perhaps games? If you want the drawing to look like it's during the time of Ancient Egypt itself, you should use colours as well. I learned in art history that they used to paint all of the buildings in colours, but most have faded away in time so we don't see them that often. One game I know of that has an Egyptian stage is Soul Calibur 2. Maybe do a search on gamespot?

    sooo..... I'm guessing ....
Office Depot or Michaels would be a good place to check out. O.o And I'm sure buying pencils like that won't go over at least $25 in the USA. I guess I'll be going shopping in a few weeks then. ^_^

I thought about the colors too. Egypt was a very colorful and a beautiful place... I'd like to color the picture... but everytime I do color a picture... it somehow degrades it.. XD or maybe it's just me.
I've looked everywhere for inspiration. O.o THE MUMMY, at GOOGLE, YAHOO, HISTORY BOOKS..... uhh... at DEVIANT ART. May it's time to do a search on gamespot. !_!

    Oh wow!
I love the pose she's taking up. I agree with Sandra, with the right shading, and the right q-tip, the shading would be incredible! But i can't get over this pose, and i think you should shad the arm over her head, because I couldn't tell what it was. I was like " Where her other arm?! And then i looked real hard, and it was there. xD

But I really can't wait to see the end of with master piece! This looks awesome, so the background will also be awesome! :3

GET TO WORK! YOU NOW MY SLAVE! >D

But yeah, I think if you shade really, really lightly, and like, play with it, with the q-tip, it look good!

but a psrt of me does not want to give up the picture.... i got attached to it. T_T

I'd love to shade it... and keep it B&W... but i must agree w/ cocohints on one thing... Egypt is just not Egypt w/o colors! even if it's mostly a sandy color... haha
and i can't shade it just yet... It'll dirty my paper... thats a frequent problem i have to deal with. <.<

It's a really good start! Once you're finished with the rest of the background, start shading and such, it adds so much to the overall look of the drawing. If you do it right, your paper won't get dirty, but if you still aren't comfortable with doing that, use some light shading just to mark where you'll do it for real later on.

    OH LOL!

I thought I was like the only person who used Qtips.
I love them...totally part of my style. They work wonderfully for blood&filth.

yep... I will... I think I'll go pencil hunting this weekend... as in tomorrow... or perhaps the next weekend.. when I will have some $$$
XD I'm so broke at the moment.
    *checks wallet*
    I only got $0.96... X3
O.o oh gawd.... thats not even gonna buy me lunch tomorrow... *cry*

if I shade her now, the shades will spread all over the rest of the paper and give it an extra grey look... T_T
then I have to sit for an hour erasing all that. I've resisted shading her for the longest time... and I wont do anything until I actually make up my mind about wether this should be in color or B&W.

oh yeah... the Q-Tip thingy is awesome. =]
it worked wonders for some of my shadings in the other drawings. >]
