    Once Upon a Time...

There was a land far off, filled with adventure and enchantment. A place where the words "impossible" and "realistic" were rarely spoken. This land had many kingdoms, royals and creatures that filled the world with a sense of wonder. This place had no name, nor nation. It was simply a united world that several referred to as Gaia.

Gaia flourished in it's magical world. While there were still feuds among races over grudges or territories, many had the opportunity to live their lives blissfully content in the beauty of this world.

Of course, no land is exempt from the harsh truths that lie in it's underbelly. For the brightest lights, will always cast the longest shadow Just as the candle that burns twice as bright, burns half as long.

At one point in it's history, Gaia was faced against a dark sorcerer who used his powers to corrupt the innocent and infect the beautiful. He had no name, nor identity and was dubbed as "The Grimm" for bringing death wherever he went. He despised the light and the happiness of the world and only wanted chaos.

So, a legion of powerful fairies, known as the Godmothers, banded together to fight off the mystic man, and defeat the evil that plagued them. The battle was long and harsh, but his mortal cast was finally slain, and the
essence of his soul; sealed away in a chamber below the kingdom of RoseGuard.

The Magic continued to flourish in Gaia and peace was restored. The people rejoiced, and the Fairy Age had never been brighter.

All was right with the world, as they all lived

    Happily.
    Ever.

Heroes and Villains appear over time, and while not all can be claimed, the ones that can chosen will be revealed in the OOC thread. They may have some abilities and backstory already laid out, but what your character does is completely up to you.

    Twelve Years Later...

"My oh my, a lot sure has happened these last twelve years. One minute, it's global peace, and the next, WHAM. You find yourself running from a wedge of ravenous, darkness infested swans!

Oh how I'd love to tell you everything that's happened in the last dozen years, but you alas, I cannot. I'm not... exactly in the story yet. Stuck in a box actually! Travel the land for a decade or so and get crammed into a locked box by a wizard. No matter what I do in this crazy new world it all just goes to- AHEM! So uhh, as I was saying, I would love to give you some quick catch up, but that's more of a prologue than a story. No, A story needs to start on a high note to really grasp the reader's attention, and I've got a feeling that today's that day! You see, the high royal of RoseGuard; Queen Evelyn, is planning to get the rulers of all the other kingdoms together to finally deal with the Grimmlins.
What are Grimmlins you say? What, have you been living under a rock or somethin'? Bet you can't even name all the kingdoms. Or tell me anything about the legend of the Fairy Crystals! Man, you're thick.
    *Sigh*
I'm really sorry. I'm a traveller that goes from place to place, and being confined to a small space is not for me, no sir. You know what? Why don't we start you off with the Queen's daughter; Aurora. Mighty fine young lady. (At least that's what I've been told!) If I've learned anything in my years, it's that the excitement always happens with the young folk.
But don't you worry! I'll join this tale soon enough.
At least I hope so. I mean every story needs a narrator right? Ehehe...

    [Volume 1]
    Chapter One
    After

In Roseguard, we lay our scene,
In such hard times, as you know they've been.
Amidst our dark and hollow days,
Emerges SHE, who'll light the way...

    ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

A gentle breeze blew past the hollowed out willow tree, detaching what few leaves remained on the rotting thing. As the wind blew the leaves along, more of the forest can be seen as a dying wasteland covered in large thorns that branch along the entire woodland area. Not much can be said for this place as it has long passed it's admiration period and is now seen for it's empathetic sorrow. Not much life here aside from the Grimmlins that infest the area. But somewhere in this dead wood, hops around an unaffected rabbit. How odd..

The small rabbit is nearby sniffing her way around the ground, extending her snout at each quick breath. The poor thing hops quickly along the dead plain as she makes her way across another dying plant. Using her paw, she taps another tree a few times for some unknown reason. Her ears turn upright, but there is no response as she continues on again. What she is doing or where she is going remains unclear, but it does not seem to matter much, as a pack of three foxes begin to circle the white snowed rabbit. These wolves are unlike any of the regular forest variety. No. These once sly animals have become even more savage with the infection of darkness. The dark mist that plagued this land had the most ravenous affects on creatures all over. Many kingdom were protected, but forest life has become near inhospitable because of it. Shame too. Thornwood was known for it's unique design and the creatures that lived there.

The foxes slowly stalked the lagomorph, through their blood red eyes. The hue in their eyes and dark auras around them, were the only way to spot the difference between the tame, and the infected. At least the only one you could notice before it was too late. Their speed and strength were increased, and their hostility was turned into raw, primal anger that could not be saved. Only way to purify the beast, would be through death, or a form of light magic. But alas, magic is scarce these days, it looks like that poor creature is next in line to be eaten or turned.

It isn't long before a fox makes them known by stepping on a small twig to alert the rabbit.
The rabbit lift' her ears and slowly turns her head to see the beasts drooling out their mouths.
"Well well, was wondering when you'd come," she spoke out.

The foxes remained unresponsive as they growled and chomped into her direction. "Guess the chase is on then." In a flash, the mammal dashes at the speed like that of a leopard and races to the other end of the forest. The foxes remain on their target and rush after here, managing to barely keep up.

"Come on, just a little more then," she baited. This rabbit is unlike any other it seems also. Not even red eyes, as some rabbits naturally own.
Two foes are left keeping up, after one smashes it's face on one of the thorn roots, knocking it out cold. The rabbit, in her small form is able to maneuver around all the obstacles without missing a beat.
She eyes the end of the forest clearing, where a clear change in atmosphere can be seen from a dark, dying forest, to a green, lush cottage clearing.

After trying to chase overhead a thron root, a second fox snags it's paw on a thorn, and tumbles down to the side in pain.
She ducks under another thorn, with the last fox still on her cottontail. Gaining more speed, it is just within arm's reach of the rabbit.
Feeling sure she had already won, she made it to the dividing line between the forest and the clearing, immediately stopping to lick her paw.
The hungry fox lunged forward, with it's gaping mouth open and ready to swallow her whole.
    SMACK!
A magical barrier of sorts has stopped the beast in it's tracks as it's mouth slams against the mystic veil. Shaking his head in confusing it scratches against the wall and growl at it's escaped prey.
"Now now, we'll have none of that," she teased, kicking back a few clomps of grass.

She hops merrily on her way and goes to find the cottage where a young Aurora stayed. Briar Creek wasn't a very large place with only a few denizens living there, so it didn't take her long to find the cottage. She perched her rabbit head upward and looked at the small place. "To think she gave up princesshood for this." She shook her head and reached her small arm to knock when she stopped to laugh. "Oh right, haha. How informal of me." A tiny clap of her hand later, caused a puff of smoke to change the creature into a young, radiant woman with bright green eyes and raven hair. She donned a black coat and robe over her pale skin.
She knocked twice. "Aurora dear? It's your Aunt Mallory!" She knocked twice again. "Are you home?"

Aurora heard the knocking at the door, which woke her from her sleep. She had been reading on a chair near the fire. Closing her book she opened her eyes as the sunlight poured through the window, shining on her golden hair and illuminating her golden eyes. She stretched, fixing the sleeves on her dress. "Just a minute!" She called, getting up and looking around the cottage. She wasn't very neat, and this showed. She quickly hid away her bow and arrows, putting them under her bed, taking the sewing out from under it and leaving it on the table. She took a breath as she walked over to the door. She hoped the cottage looked alright. "How wonderful to see you! Please come in." She told her Aunt.

The woman was greeted with open arms as her niece opened the doors. "Oh come now, what kind of a greeting is that to your Aunt Mallory, dear?" She jumped into the room and before inspecting anything squeezed the thin woman tightly in an embracing hug. "Now let us have a look at you," She insisted upon releasing her.
She has grown a few inches since they last met face to face, but her hair remained unchanged. Her beauty was still as youthful as ever and her dresses were common enough to make her mother disapprove. Something she always looked forward to.
"Oh god, you've blossomed into such a beautiful young woman Aurora. I just want to cast a spell on you, so you'll sleep forever and never age, haha!" She teased, but her choice of words were very unsettling. "And this cottage, it's so, so..." She looked around to the rustic furniture, and wooden architecture. "Homey... and common. Your mother would never approve." She walked around and acted quite snobbish, taking a finger and gathering a small line of dust off the windowsill. "So naturally... I do." She spun around and shot a devilish grin before peeking into her bag.

"But alas, we do not have time for pleasantries. So much work to do!" She pulled out a parcel with Roseguard's royal insignia on the wax stamp. "Your mother knows you've rejected the thought to attend the royal summit today, but seeing as how you haven't replied to any, she sent widdle ol' me to convince you."

Mallory had developed a reputation of nasty doings by many citizens of her own nation for releasing the dark cloud. As one of the Godmothers who sealed the dark wizard more than the decade ago, she retired her mantle as 'a powerful fairy and returned to her royal duties alongside her sister; Evelynne. Queen of Roseguard.

Though she was dubbed as evil though, she rarely let it affect her. She had learned to tolerate the names and slander, and love the more precious things in life, such as protecting Aurora. She had even helped purify Briar Creek so that it would be safe to stay there.

"So, I obviously can't just barge into your home and make demands all willy nilly. That would be just plain rude. And while, I do respect your decision to remain in isolated bliss... I can't say the same for your mother." She went by her kitchen table and took a seat placing fingers against her forehead. "Oh I can't tell you the days where I've seen her just lying in your room, staring at your bed with tears rolling down her face. It pains me to just see her wallow like that." She looked at the corner of her eye to see if Aurora was watching.

"Naturally I told her; 'Evee, she's a big girl now and can make her own decisions,' but she always just turns to me and asks me such a hurtful question... 'Am I a bad mother?" She placed the summoning envelope on the table, and begun to spin it around with one hand, as the other pressed a fist against her cheek. "And so I told her that she was a wonderful mother and that little Aurora wouldn't reject coming without a valid reason- Which I'm sure you do. To not be responding to your love filled letters with such equal love- which I'm sure you did."

She stopped spinning the letter and transitioned to laying back against the chair with her arms folded. "With what magic I have left, I can change shape, teleport, and even materialize windows... Now if only I had learned the spell to stop her from crying so much," she sighed.

Aurora's smiled dropped lower and lower as her Aunt continued to talk about her mother. She felt her head ache, but said nothing yet. She could tell her aunt was trying to guilt her, but the bad thing about that was it was working. She had to think about everything for a second, she didn't want to say something she would regret, or that would trap her. Her eyes felt like they were rolling back and forth in her head. She moved a strand of golden hair out from her face.

"If my mother really thinks I should act like royalty, then she should treat me like royalty and stop bossing me around." Aurora said. She didn't raise her voice, but it was neutral. "Maybe she was a bad mother." Aurora muttered. She instantly regretted it. "Oh I'm sorry Auntie." She felt herself fall into a chair. "I shouldn't have said that please forgive me." Though she could feel her body fighting the words, her heart couldn't. She had to decide what to do. She knew the guilt would consume her, and in her isolation she would think about this moment for weeks and months after if she said no. She'd feel so horrible. She took a deep breath. "I'll go, but not for her, for you." Aurora sighed heavily.
