In the interest of simplifying things for anyone in the future, I've uploaded the patch, directions, and a guide onto Gamebanana. Thanks to the OpenKH Discord, I was also able to fix some of the last few issues (encounter plus, zantetsuken not being granted) by replacing some of the rewards for other things that were duplicated. (For example, Sora learns Tech Boost 4 different times by default; with my adjustment he only learns it 2 times, with the other 2 times granting 2 of the "bugged" rewards). https://gamebanana.com/mods/365725 View attachment 50823 The reason the rewards are "bugged" in the first place is actually really simple. It turns out that Gledson/Sora had decided to copy/paste two of the English ARD files from the US release of KH1 wholesale, rather than go through and translate them; this resulted in the game not granting the report/abilities, because in the US version of the game, it didn't have to grant those items. The alternative fix is to properly translate the ARDs, but that's a lot more heavy lifting than I can do.
So I'm using Xeeynamo's patch and I'm having issues. I am attempting to change Keyblade abilities using the codes in the attachments. *With* Xeeynamo's patch the game doesn't seem to recognize the code at all. *Without* the patch it seems to change the ability, causing a lot of weird text stretching on the equip screen and attempting to change keyblades, and going back to the main equipment menu, crashes the game. Any help with this would be nice. I want to make some weapons more usable by changing their stats but won't get far if it crashes.
Does anyone remember what the deal was with Extreme Mode? Been a long time since I looked in here. Are the enemies/player just stronger outright or are there other differences? I remembered this when I saw a video with someone having modded the mode to the difficulty select on the main menu.
Not sure if you'll get around to seeing this, but I had a question. Can you modify what ability a weapon has and change it to something else? Or...

I did a quick search for you on that and another user on Gamefaqs had a similar problem. The components of Red Armor are in the Phil Cup. The "whole" Red Armor is in the Hades cup. I suggest trying the Hades Cup (they said it's seed 38, "37 originally") if you haven't. That other user said that beating it in the Phil Cup "a second time" was what gave them the entry; still I recommend doing the Hades Cup too since it's the whole Heartless. EDIT: Boss warp to fix it? What'd you do exactly? I'm curious.

Because I enjoy keeping tabs on this and have no earthly idea of where to actually look for Gledson's stuff (unless he's just... gone), I was wondering if anyone had heard of any new developments.

It's nice to see that he's still working on it. Could someone fluent in Spanish ask if he's only making a Spanish version now? It's a little unclear. Considering all the progress was towards English, and all.
Not super helpful, I'll admit, but what about modding the Twilight Thorn into a fight in the Colosseum? Its original arena and the fighting area in the Colosseum fights are about the same in size and you could even make it look "official" by modding the text to announce the round. I've seen people with modded rounds before but I personally don't know how to go about it.

It seems Gledson got another hard drive since he released a translation for God of War II semi-recently. Maybe he'll get around to KH again sometime. Also, I'm glad people are still able to enjoy the patch that's floating around currently. With KH3 getting some more trailers finally it's neat going back to KH1 on the older hardware. How'd that go, anyway? Did you finish that?
Making an .iso image from a disc? Yeah, that's how they're made. You can use imgburn, Alchohol 120%, Daemon tools; all sorts of things to make an image. I will be busy for the rest of the night but hold off on importing just yet. Per official forum policy I cannot endorse the downloading of isos since that is piracy and is illegal but let me see if I can find my old laptop. I'll be busy for the rest of the night writing something but I might be able to dig something useful up.
I'm a dummy. The battle quotes are stored inside of the characters' models, if you can believe that. So the solution there would be dump the enemy models from the original Japanese release of Kingdom Hearts when they all spoke Japanese, and replace the Final Mix models. Note that the filenames themselves for the npcs *may* be different (it's been over two years since I last tried swapping Final Mix<->Non-Final Mix around) so just be careful if you try to do a straight drag-n-drop. The FMV movies would be the same basic thing; they're on that disc.
See the following quoted thing for the mediafire link. Just plug the .vset files in over the ones you have after you extract your own ISO and you should be good to go. It's been a long time since I've used this so just shout if anything is missing.
