To be honest, I've abstained from translating anything more because I wasn't sure if I was doing things correctly... If we could make a standardized translating process and release a step-by-step video detailing it, I think it would allow those of us who want to help to dig in with confidence. As I understand it, a few people have already volunteered to make such a video, so I suppose it comes down to getting a standardized methodology down.
Sorry for seeming obtuse. There was a lot to read through in the thread, and I had difficulty understanding it all. Thanks for giving me the directions, though. I'll get to work on translating another script. Lemme know if you see that I'm doing something wrong!
Jadentheman, how do you get the Japanese scripts that you put up? I keep feeling like a freeloader when I translate your stuff, so I was hoping I could start doing it for myself.
While he said he'd rather not have them machine translated, those are probably close enough that one could use them with little more than a bit of polish. I think that was pretty helpful, Sora.
--- 463 スキップする -- Skip --- 464 スキップしない -- Don't skip --- 466 フィールドカメラのモードを選択して下さい -- Please select the field camera mode (ゲーム開始後もメニュー画面のコンフィグで変更できます) ~~ This can be changed after starting a game in the config menu --- 471 カメラモード••• -- Camera Mode --- 476 サウンド ••• -- Sound ... But, as you said, those are some you probably already knew.
Man, I'm lost. I'll just stick to translating the stuff Jadentheman puts up.
So, in the end, our translated .ard's should match the KH1 Final Mix English SYS format, right? If that's the case, I may have been going about translating all wrong...
I've started working on it. By the by, has anyone tried uploading an .ard file from the English version in the ARD Editor to see if the formatting translates properly to the English FM SYS? I tried it once, but I just managed to get gobbletygook on all formats. I think I must have messed up somewhere... If it did, translating would be piece-o'-cakey. And if anyone needs the English .ard files, I have them. I can upload them all, or per request, whichever.

The only issue I have with working on this thread is that there are 34 pages of variably useful posts, and buried within them are several documents made to help the work along. Having some sort of document hub or even a forum dedicated to the translation would really help organize everything, in my humblest opinion. But, on the other hand, setting one up could be a pain in the left ventricle... EDIT: Kind of a compromise I've considered... Why don't we have a Google Drive folder that we share by link. In that folder are subfolders of "Tutorials", "Tasks", and "Files". The tutorials folder, I would think, should be fairly obvious. The "Tasks" folder would contain the spreadsheet that Crazycat drew up to show what people are working on and what needs to be done, as well as additional files of that nature should they become necessary. "Files" could be the folder where we keep the completed files and the files being worked on. If we put the link to this folder in a wonderfully loquacious somebody's signature, it should be readily accessible to those who need it. Then those desiring to keep communications to the forums can, and those who want to talk through Skype can as well. Anyway, just an idea.
I'm going to be honest with you and say that I haven't the first idea what you're trying to tell me. Skype works for me, but I think having a document pool through Google Drive or the like might also be beneficial. I figure the more important people on the project should go with what works best for them collectively. I just do grunt work. ;)
Facebook has a file section like that? Huh. I'd be on board with that, though I don't think it'd be exquisitely useful if it was only you and me there. Er.... not that you're useless, or anything, but it is kind of a team effort. Yes. I'm am all for it. Give me the link, you industrious sonnovagun. (edited the foot out of the mouth)
Was there any action taken on the talk of setting up some manner of community or chat or something for this effort? I'm thinking that having communications more open than a single thread might be beneficial and prevent doing things twice...
Ah, okay. I think I managed to translate things in an order that would make sense in English for things like "Cannot carry anymore X" and " Puppies no. pi, no. i, and no. e returned home!", but without an understanding of those tag thingies, I don't think I can do much more than guess.
The Traverse Town document linked earlier is 96% translated to English. I did my best to preserve whatever those tags were, but I would bet that there will be initial issues with it. Sorry 'bout that. There are a few sections left that aren't in the English script as far as I've been able to discern which would require at least a passing understanding of Japanese to translate well, one of which I don't possess. If you J-savvy people could take a gander at the document (ducksitters are available), I think it's nearly finished. There's also the section full of "Sora obtained" and "Puppies returned", etc. etc. that I had understood was not needed to be translated. If I'm mistaken, lemme know, and I'll get back to work.
Swanky! Should it? I see why you would say that, but I know I've seen it capitalized in other games, at the very least.
I extracted files from my iso rip of my English KH, but I have no clue how to get something that even resembles an English version of what's being translated. I gathered that it's one of the several tw files, but I'm not sure how to get to the juicy stuff. Maybe I should stick with the hand translating and let those who know what they're doing handle the computer stuff. EDIT: After getting over my exceptional derpage, I found the gigantic dropdown in crazycat's tools which magically transforms garbage into a pleasant reading experience. I'll see what I can do with these.
Question on this... My understanding of the intricacies behind getting this document is exceptionally lacking, but would it be possible to get the same file ripped from the English KH in order to facilitate the translation? I wondered if they wouldn't be more or less in the same order. Also, thanks to everyone who is working hard on this! Hopefully I can chip in some, as well.
