    Combat


    KH2's combat is something that somewhat unexplainable refined and it ticks all the right boxes. The weight, the feel, the options and just Sora's gravity as a whole just clicked together to form a moveset that felt extremely weld rounded and refined to play with. I think this coupled with the fact A lot of people expected a return to form with a return to development of the mainline games people expected an experience more in line with how KH2 operated rather than an amalgamation of KH2 with the Mobile titles. i don't think a lot of people know how to really convey how they feel about the combat but I think this is a major factor as to why people felt dissapointment.

    Sora's weight in KH3 is extremely floaty and to be quite frank, when you hit something with the keyblade it doesn't garner the same hitfeedback you would get from KH2 which is the start of the issues. From a game physics standpoint it feels like his hits feel flimsy, that coupled with KH2's being relatively small encounters focused where as KH3's moveset feels like it's aiming to crowd control a lot more enemies with wider arcs and swings to it it makes for Sora in KH3 to feel quite flimsy and dull. Where as KH2's combat felt really weighty and precise in what it wanted to achieve, this is what people have deemed as the "Osaka" effect named after Team Osaka who took on developing KH titles post Days.

    A lot of my complaints come back to combat but , keybalde transformation albeit an amazing Idea, didn't function as well as they should have, for one there were quite a few that felt..samey? stuff like the Chef's pan and Olympic collessium keyblade or even the nanogear being an amalgamation of all of them. this isn't a major issue however i think a big problem was switching between the forms between combat (which don't get me wrong, KH is an Action RPG but i think people were hoping for a more dynamic experience and flow to the combat such as how DMC founded style switching and so did yakuza) given that we had 3 keyblades on your person at any time, Keyblade switching ended up severely breaking the flow of this combat. People have found tech around it since such as Item cancel switching (where you use an item but immediately switch keyblades thus cancelling the use of the item but immediately switching keyblades as item useage puts sora back to Neutral) however this was not founded until after remind which by then KH3 had garnered it's rough reputation already.

    TLDR; all these little combat intricacies ended up souring the experience from what KH2 had us expect of a mainline KH2 , i've since come to terms with KH3 as a game and thoroughly enjoy it but i can understand people being sour especially Pre ReMind

    Story


    Story wise, i think the problem we have is the pacing of KH3, something thats been built up over the past decade and and some of to be quite frank supplementary story telling, feels like it tries to encompass a bit too much. The whole journey to find the power of waking from worlds where...nothing ever really comes of the journey, there are a few moments that are definitely endearing but nothing that ever really teaches our main party anything new, for lack of a better example these first visit to worlds story telling worlds feel like the 2nd visits in KH2 where there's not much subtance but to directly parallel the movie events in which the worlds are taking place, In kh1 and kh2 these encounters definitely had something for our party to take away from and learn from.

    I definitely like the chemistry between Sora Donald and Goofy but i really wish we had more on screen chemistry between Sora Riku and Kairi by this point as well, and as you said. The taking away of FF characters definitely did not help with this.

    My biggest personal gripe is probably the Finale, the final gauntlet somewhat...pales in comparison to KH2's finale as well, i feel it ties off every ORG member quite well but there's just not that feeling of grandios against the Odds and some of the ways they force the main party to fail as well feels..quite forced.

    I don't know really how to best describe my gripes with the story but all in all i just don't feel it lives up to the standard KH2 set but story is always up to inerpretation. I'm always open to people trying to educate me on stuff I might've missed.

    Being a long time Rhythm game player the demo actually really surprised me , having played lots of IIDX, Osu, DJMAX etc I thought that it'd be kinda weak initially from the trailers, The offset looked really weird but it ended up playing nice, my only issues is that some really good tracks ended up getting left out and I'd genuinely pay to have them added in.

    On one hand

    I'm very much excited to see where we go story wise from here

    on the other hand I've been on and off this game inbetween ultimates / raid tiers constantly. My main goals right now being hitting my omnicrafts again before endwalker lands, Buying ishgardian housing and probably doing the new ultimate with my static.

    Looking forward to true cross data centre travel just because during the years all the servers were in montreal I was on Faerie & jenova and still keep in contact with my raid teams & fc's from those servers. Had to move though because of ping spike issues when they relocated the servers so I just opted to move to EU Omega,

    but a lot of me sticking with this game is if they manage to make Summoner & Ninja less stale in all honesty , those classes have been my mains since day 1 & 2.4 when ninja came out, Recently both have grown pretty stale so as of late i've been playing MNK & SCH for content in the mean time, hope endwalker is able to reinvigorate my enjoyment with the battle system in all honesty and if anything i'll be able to enjoy the new tiers & ultimates that much more.
