Zoey fell backwards in relief when the door opened the right way. "That was too intense," she said. If people could see her eyes, they would be swirling with confusion and numbers. She breathed out, rubbing her forehead to regain her composure. "Thank goodness though..." She sat up and rested her elbow on her knee. "So... it's opened..." she tapped her hand on the ground, and listened to the abyss. "...we got a few choices... Which way should we go, Dana?"
Zoey flinched when she heard the shaking of the pyramid, and the wizzing of the arrow made her cringe even more. "Damn it." She heard Dana freak out by her and that made her even more on edge. Math was not this blind meister's forte. She hit her head a few times with her palm, trying to shut out the screaming Dana was going on about. "Hold on, calm down. Try again. One more time." She took her breath and said it again. "7, 4, 6, 5, 8. Do that. We're going to be just fine, remember? We got this."
Zoey cocked an eyebrow and scratched her head. "Give me a minute..." She wordlessly sounded out the problem, writing in the air as she did so. Her hands went through her hair as she muttered some things to herself, seeing an image of numbers float into her mind. She pressed a hand to her temple and said, "Put these numbers in order as I say them. I dunno if it's right, but we'll give it a shot. 5, 9, 2, 1, 0, 1. 1, 9." She pressed her lips together and cringed, ready for it to be wrong.
Well, that was a straightforward answer Zoey wasn't expecting. Dana was just full of surprises. Zoey had a feeling she would never get bored with Dana around her. She smirked at the question. Now it was her turn to be a bit funny. "Well, I guess we'll see when we get there, won't we?" Zoey tapped her blindfold and giggled, while also being aware to not misplace her step. When they reached the top, she almost tripped over her feet when she realized there was no more to go up on. "Whoops." Zoey brushed herself off and straightened her shirt, and then cleared her throat. "Right, this seal..." Zoey reached a hand out towards the entrance, trying to get a feel for it if she could. Mikio smiled a bit as Matthew seemed super excited about all the missions... except each one he kept saying would required Mikio to interact with all sorts of folks all at once. He raised his hands up and began to fiddle with them nervously. "Ah ha, well... I'm not much of a people person." His cheeks became rosy at the thought of being socially awkward the way it was. No, people didn't suite him at all. Just Matthew, but Matthew wasn't a people. He was his meister. That was a big difference to him. "So long as I don't have to talk much, I-I think I'll be okay with those..." Or not. He wasn't sure. This whole school experience had already brought him out of his comfort-zone even before he stepped foot in this academy. "Hey, do you wanna... practice a bit before we go out there into the world? We still hadn't figured out how you can equipped me without me falling on the floor... And how to block, how to move..." He shrugged sheepishly and rubbed the back of his neck. "You know, that basic stuff... Would be a pain to figure it out as we go on the battlefield, especially if we have to move quickly."
The weapon slipped out her hand, and the meister gasped at the sudden loss of matter at her finger tips. Trained ears listened to the dramatic tale of what transpired in Dana's childhood... or supposedly happened. Zoey had to force herself not to frown, or smile, but keep a straight face as she focused her attention on the blue soul of her weapon. This doesn't even make any sense, she thought as she imagined an embarrassed drop of sweat at the side of her head and squiggles coming out of her head as she tried to process the nonsense that was being said. When the story was over, there was an awkward silence and then Dana told her real story in one sentence or less. Zoey finally cracked a smile, then snorted out a laugh and moved her head back as the laugh carried through the desert wasteland. Zoey calmed down after a bit, making a hand motion to wipe some tears from her blindfolded eyes. "That was entertaining anyways... I liked it." The girl raised an eyebrow when she felt Dana poke her and walk ahead of her. "What happened with.... Never mind." Zoey was glad she didn't have to carry Dana for a moment, at least on the sand. She was afraid she would fall and drop the weapon on accident. She chuckled and trudged forward in the sand, letting silence fall between them for a moment as she collected her thoughts. After a minute, she had something to say. "So you transformed fully into a weapon as a baby? That's pretty impressive!" she smiled and clapped her hands behind her back, walking with a slight skip in her step. She could see the wisdom of being paired up from the beginning. Lord Death knew what he was doing. Zoey slowed her walk when she approached the steps of the temple. She had to feel around with her foot to figure out how deep and how wide the stairs were, or even where it began. Her foot found stone, and she smiled, letting her foot glide over it to get a feel of it before walking up a few more. "So you just enrolled in the DWMA, right? How come you didn't do it sooner?"
Zoey nervously smiled as Dana pat her on the back. "Y-yeah... totally a master at the quarterstaff..." she said with an anxious chuckle. Maybe they should have slowed down and trained up a bit on their soul's wavelengths. Or even how to handle a quarterstaff. She handled staffs, heck, she handled mock scythes. But they had to prep themselves so much, at least that's what her dad said. And now they were heading into a mission she was so pumped about taking at first, but now she wasn't sure about it. The portal had already been opened, her blind cane was put away, and Dana already had stepped through. What a surprise... Zoey was expecting her to be mopey and drag her heels, but it was the opposite. She was excited about it. But her meister on the other hand... Zoey turned to the direction of Lord Death's voice and smiled a bit. "We'll be alright." But that was mostly to reassure herself. But there was no time to show fear now. She couldn't disappoint Lord Death and make him regret his decision to let a blind meister into the academy. She saluted with one hand, and then stepped forward after the light blue orb of Dana's soul. Her feet stopped short as the hot sun bore down on her. She almost flinched with the change in lighting, but recovered quickly when she remembered her blindfold would protect her from the light. Her mouth opened when she saw the pyramid before her. It looked so... creepy. Then again, everything did in her world. But this was even more so. She could sense a dark presence, even from far away. She swallowed hard, almost regretting her decision instantly for taking this mission so hastily. Words cut into her thoughts; "CATCH ME!" "Huh-AYE!" Zoey saw a flash and the outline of Dana's body was enveloped in some kind of staff form. Her breath caught in her throat as her hand reached out in slow motion, hoping against the odds that she would actually catch the staff. Her fingers wrapped around wood, and she grabbed it fully, twirling it over her fingers to make it turn into a full circle to try to get control of the momentum, and then grabbed it firmly with both hands. "Phew..." she breathed out, clutching Dana tightly. "That was close..." She breathed out, putting her head on the middle of the staff. Dana already put so much trust in her, it was exciting to Zoey. She moved her head up a bit, feeling the gentle hum through her body as their souls tested and began to become in sync with one another. Soundlessly, her hand moved up to the staff to one of the blades. She slowed as her fingers glided on the edge of the blades, listening to the zing of metal under her fingers. "You're so cool," she commented, ghosting her fingers all around the blade and to the staff. She held the staff in her hands, testing out the weight and then swung it around a few times, using moves her father taught her. She smiled, holding the staff. "Not bad. This'll work just fine. Now, that kishin..." Zoey looked to pyrmaid again and felt her eyes squinting as she could see a very faint red dot... But it was so far away. Darn. "Okay, we can't stand here all day..." Zoey took a step forward, feeling the ground shift under her. She cringed, not liking that at all. "Ugh, me and sand hate each other..." Zoey pushed her discomfort down and trudged forward. "We're gonna get those 99 souls in no time, me and you." She smiled at her determination. "So when did you find out you were a weapon, Dana?"
Kytheria's eyes were wild, but focused, as she gathered in what was happening around her. There was fire, the smell of rotting flesh she smelt earlier, a new voice calling himself a hero, Nasir seemed to get bit by a zombie, and Garreth seemed to be holding his own ground just fine. The young adult seethed under her teeth and she quickly moved out of the way of an attacking zombie, spotting a boulder not too far away. She jabbed an oncoming zombie in the eye with her crossbow, and quickly brought out her machete with the other arm. She sliced the staggering zombie she jabbed earlier, and then beheaded another one that was heading towards someone. She wordlessly stepped back further and further from the group, keeping alert of what was behind her and how close she was to that boulder. It looked like she could climb on it easily, and then have a vantage point for shooting some zombies at a lesser close-distance range. One lunged at her and she swiped with her blade, panting as her adrenaline was building up more and more. The group was thinning gradually. That was a good sign. 18/30 remaining, killed 3 ib4itslocked
Air escaped from the meister's lips as she rolled her head to mimic rolling of eyes. "They wouldn't let a blind meister into the academy if she couldn't handle a weapon." She giggled and tucked her bangs behind her ear, being careful not to bump the blindfold too much. "My dad was a meister at this academy before, so he taught me a few things after I became blind. I actually have a better advantage somewhat being this way." She looked around the room, and smirked. "Like I can see everyone's souls. Unless they mask it, then I'm in trouble. I can also see silver outlines of things. It's not clear, but it's better than being in complete darkness. And of course, my hearing is more akin and so is my sensitivity to vibrations. It's the plus side of losing one of your senses; your body adapts for what it doesn't have. Isn't that amazing?" She sighed out happily and moved to Dana's side, reaching for her arm. Her fingers glided over the the fabric and soon she wrapped one arm around the other's and pulled her close to her like a dear friend. "Well... no time to waste. Let's head to the mission board and see what we can do together." The girl was clearly excited to be here, and she wasn't going to waste another minute standing around for long.
I would like to sign up with The Last Midnight from Into The Woods, pleaaaaaaase. Edit: I'll make a recording of it cause I think I'll be too nervous to do it live.
Dana and Zoey signing up for the Pharoh mission! Glen is alright with it
Mikio listened intently as he stayed in his dagger like form. He could feel both of their energies resonating and feeling at ease around one another. They were going to be just fine. "Well, I know a few things, so I'll try to help. I'm changing back." In a white flash, his body appeared once more and he stood on his feet, towering over Matt again. "We'll just learn as we go, how about it?" He smiled and tilted his head to the side. "First, I'm gonna show you how to stand." He stood, feet just barely past the width of his shoulders. "Stand like this to have a firm hold, and bend your knees a little to move quickly, just in case. You only have one hand to block with at a time. So make sure the side of the blade faces your enemy at all times..." he scratched his head and then pulled at his cat ear on his sweater. "This is harder to explain it than thinking about it."
When their hands connected, Zoey felt her energy open up to Dana's. She was trying to get a feel for their soul's wavelength to try to sync. It seemed as Dana was almost a little fearful of who she was paired up with, and what she looked like to the meister who was blind. She pressed her hand over her lips as she heard Dana go on and on about her not seeing, and how in the world she managed to fill out an application form. It was a question probably most were afraid to ask. Zoey could appreciate Dana's straightforwardness. "It's okay. Lord Death and Professor Stein helped me get copies of the textbooks in braille. And I'm allowed to transcribe my answers via sound recognition software that writes out what I say." She shrugged her shoulder. "So the only thing you need to do is help me read stuff that's not in braille out loud, like the Mission Board, names of places, so forth. I'll do my homework, and help you with yours if you want. I hope that won't be too hard for you." If Dana could see her eyes, she would wink. But since not, Zoey made a head gesture to her instead like a slight nod. "Don't feel bad about the sign, please," Zoey said in a quieter voice. "I think it was funny. It'll be a good memory down the road." Her smile turned downward into a serious thin line and she chewed on her bottom lip. "If this isn't going to work, this whole me being blind thing, I'm sure they can find another partner that'll suite you better." She placed her hands behind her back and tapped her right foot nervously with her toes. "But I kinda like your soul." Her head moved up and her hand reached out again, poking Dana in the middle of her chest where she saw the orb. "It's blue," she laughed a bit, smiling once more "looks kind of sleepy like it's bored. I think it's even drooling a bit. But it's strong, and has a lot of potential... I think you'll keep me grounded. We could be a pretty awesome team." She grinned and nodded her head, and then pulled her hand back and let it rest on the blind cane. "What do you say? Think you can handle me? I won't be mad if not."
I have been meaning to reply to this ever since you linked us in the discord chat. I've been struggling with depression since I was about 13 years old (or at least acknowledged it), and really didn't get medicated for it until I was 20 after I was finally hospitalized. Medicine does help tremendously, but it can only do so much. How I survived was journaling as skittles said. Until about 16 years old I kinda stopped. But it does help if you keep at it. When I went to support/therapy groups (cause I was struggling with other things with the depression like anxiety, PTSD, insomnia, and other things), they taught me how to self-regulate and stay positive, even on the go. So one of the things they had us make these mental health "kits", and you can put stuff in it to help you. Like for me, this is what I put in mine; Bouncy balls Good music Coloring sheets Box of crayons Pens/pencils Journal/Notepad Good headphones Extra phone charger Playdough Bubbles Couple of pieces of chocolate Good smelling lotion Bubble bath formula My favorite book/manga Tissues A favorite blanket to wrap myself in Hot chocolate & marshmallow packets Tea bags Favorite mug Seems really silly and simple, but if I found myself going into a depressive sweep, I ended up going to the box and pulling something out to distract me a bit. Now my kit is whatever I have on hand and no longer in a box, but the box is a good place to start. Also what helps me is to cry. To me, before treatments, I hated to cry. It just showed how much more weaker I was and I was so mad at myself if tears started to come. But I learned just to accept it and ride it out. It sucks, you get so tired afterwards, but it helps release the pain you bottle up through the day. Find a quiet, secluded place, have a box of tissues handy, your favorite blanket, and just let yourself cry it out. I also make myself do activities that make me focus and be mindful of myself. Cause the last thing you wanna do when you're depressed is focus on you. So I do activities that stimulate my mind, but not in a way to overwhelm myself and help me refocus my attention on my responsibilities and my wellbeing. Activities like: Puzzles Coloring Drawing/sketching Singing Yoga Learning a new easy recipe to cook Taking a walk Taking care of my pets/plants Reading a book Walking Taking a relaxing bubble bath/shower Sometimes when you're depressed, you have to force yourself to do things you don't want to do or feel like you can do. But I make it fun by making a sticky note to-do list of that day. I limit myself to five things, cause otherwise I'll get overwhelmed and feel like I can't accomplish anything. But I put one task on one sticky note, and put it on a wall. When the task is done, I rip it off the wall, wad it into a ball, and throw it away. It's the most satisfying feeling in the world. And things get done! Above all, and I'm still getting a handle on this, but be patient with yourself. Take baby-steps if you need to, it's okay to cry, and take it slow. Everyone deals with this a little bit differently. It can come in waves, and it might be present all the time. But this doesn't make you a flawed person, or even a bad friend. People will still love you and need you no matter what. I mean, being personal here, therapists and people in the past told me I wasn't going to be able to work with kids cause of my depression, I was going to be a dysfunctional human being of society, but I had no reason to feel the way I did. But now I have a full time job working with kids and their families, I moved out on my own, paying my own bills, managing my own chores, bought my own car, and I'm about to get my associates in child development. And guess what? I still have depression and other problems. But I proved them wrong and doing stuff they say I couldn't have done. When you're down, focus on your accomplishments. If I remember correctly, you moved out on your own recently, yes? That's a huge step! Find people who are supportive of you, who will give a listening ear no matter what, and give you the positive validation you deserve cause you're an awesome person. It took me forever, but I found people who really care about me and don't care I keep falling into depression over and over again. They just wait patiently and give me a listening ear, tell me that I am a cool person and I do really matter. And know this; it's okay to be sad for a while. But it's also okay to be happy too. You got this. I hoped I helped a bit.
Mikio smirked and then he chuckled at Matthew's enthusiasm. All the fears of not fitting in or getting along with his partner was dwindling away by the second. "What? You never seen a weapon transformation before up close?" He shifted his eyes and scratched his head, then shrugged his shoulders. "I dunno, it feels kinda tingly I guess. Like when your foot goes to sleep, but warmer and nicer than that. It was weird at first, but you get used to it." Mikio felt his countenance relax as Matthew's and his soul matched each other and the kid was getting used to swinging a bladed glove around. He was worried they were going to hurt one another, but that wasn't so. And although Mikio's form was a little big on Matthew, he seemed to be moving easily. "Hope you don't mind close range combat." The boy stayed in his form til Matt said it was alright to change back. He didn't wanna ruin their synchronization after all. "So, you didn't answer my question earlier. We got distracted. What brought you to the DWMA? And have you had any previous fighting training?"
He liked this kid already. Even though they just met, Matthew was willing to help Mikio feel comfortable as possible. His whole demeanor changed once they stepped outside the classroom. His shoulders relaxed and he could breathe much easier. "That's more like it," he muttered under his breath as he stretched his neck to look up. Mikio closed his eyes to rid the rest of his negative feelings, and then blinked when the questions were sounded off to him. He smirked, and cracked his neck from side to side to loosen the tension in his shoulders before looking down at Matt with a sparkle in his red eyes. "I'm a triblade claw gauntlet, yes, I live in the city in the boy's dormitories, I'm not from around here, and I like cats. Cats are quiet, sneaky, yet playful and affectionate." He let out a breathless chuckle and looked around. "I guess you wanna see what my weapon form looks like, eh? And get a handle on our soul's wavelength." He stepped away from the wall and rolled his shoulders. Mikio then clapped his hands together and rubbed them quickly, focusing on the form of his weapon. He stopped and then glanced up with a serious glint in his eye. "Here we go." A flash of white light, and Mikio's tall body was soon wrapped away into a metal, triblade claw gauntlet and it clattered on the ground. Mikio's eyes appeared in the middle blade, looking up at Matt. "Go ahead. Try to pick me up," he said, his voice sounding metallic. "I think I'll fit your hand just right. At least, I hope so."
Relief washed over him. He was happy he found his partner on his first try. Mikio watched as the kid had to practically tilt his head up to have a look at him. And although he was annoyed cause of the crowd, he couldn't help but to smile at the irony of it all. The tallest kid and the shortest kid in the room were paired up together. He didn't seem that bad of a person. Strange enough, Mikio actually felt comfortable around this guy, which was odd for him to feel with someone he just met. It was as if they already made a silent connection. Mikio took Matthew's hand and gave it a firm shake."Likewise," he said with a tilt of his head and a smile on his face. "What brought you to the DWMA, Matthew? Can I call you Matt?" Someone accidentally bumped into him, and his smile fell along with his temporary calmness as that person apologized and walked away. His attention was suddenly on the hoard of teenagers and he felt his mouth go dry. "I-I'm sorry, can we step outside the classroom, please? It's too crowded for my t-taste." Mikio blushed in embarrassment and ducked his head down to stare at his feet instead.
Zoey bit her lip to hold back a laugh when Professor Stein made the comment about this Spirit scaring the students. Spirit seemed rather joyful and optimistic (despite the getting killed out there comment), while Stein seemed more reserved and a bit... sad? That seemed like the right emotion. She could barely see the pair standing in the front of the room amongst the other things outlined by a silver shadow. Everything was in a darkened black and white with some blur for her, save for the souls she saw in the room. There were so many colors, and so many different faces on them to reflect that individual's temperament. Professor Stein's though was so unusual. It was bigger than the others she saw, and it even had a screw in its head. But he was strong, that much she could tell. 'Remind me not to get on his bad side...' Professor Stein dismissed them to find their partners they were assigned too, which made Zoey ground back to reality. She took in a deep breath, and let it out slowly as her fingers flexed on a blind cane that was white at the top, and half way down turned red. This was only temporary, she told herself in the beginning. As soon as she figured out where her normal route was in the school and get used to the sounds and density of people, she wouldn't need it. For now, it was safely in her hand. She couldn't help but to feel eyes bearing down on her, burning with judgment. She was wearing a blindfold after all, and holding a cane for the blind. She swallowed a lump in her throat and pulled her cane a little closer to her. 'Don't you dare lose your confidence now,' she thought to herself. 'Focus, and you'll do just fine. You are like every one else. You have strengths, and you have limitations. And so do they.' Zoey pushed back her bangs behind her ears, listening to the murmur of new students talking with one another to try to figure out who was who. Luckily, Lord Death had given the name of her weapon before she was led back here. Written text and her did not get along. A trained ear tilted to the sound of a boy calling out a name she wasn't familiar yet. She frowned, and turned to look at the souls around her. She would have to call out herself, but at least she wouldn't have to be the only one. The boy who said a name gave her the confidence boost she needed to- "Zoey Pryor, I don't know how the heck you missed this sign but your weapon is right here, ready and waiting." Her name. Zoey turned quickly to the voice before they stopped talking, and her vision focused on the outline of moving lips. Her eyes saw a blue soul that looked rather bored and sleepy almost. Her own lips twitched into a smile and she began to walk forward, keeping her cane in front of her to help her figure out how far the silver outlines of the other students were. She never touched anyone though, keeping her head held high as she moved with as much courage as possible. "Right here!" Zoey called out as she approached the bored looking soul. "Dana Knighfall, right?" She tilted her head as a rectangle looking thing held in the female's hands came into a fuzzy focus. She reached out, missing the object the first time, but then reached out again. Her fingers landed softly on the thing, and she felt the texture of cardboard underneath it. She grinned, letting her fingers trace to the middle of it to feel the indent of where the marker made the outline of her name. "Sorry I missed your sign. It was a good idea, except..." Zoey moved her hand away from the sign and tapped her blindfold. "I can't see text at all, only if its in braille or have some kind of 3D-ness to it." She let her hand fall to her side for a moment. "This isn't an accessory., if you were wondering. And no, I can't take it off. The lights are too bright for me." Zoey chuckled, rubbing the back of her neck. "Guess I am your meister they paired you up with. I hope you don't mind. I promise I won't be a problem." Her hand reached out once more, but this time it was open and ready for a handshake. "I'm really glad to finally meet you, Dana." Mikio let out a breath as he glanced around the room. He pulled his hoodie a bit more over his head, and then grabbed for the cat ear sitting on top. He massaged it as he looked at all the students. There were so many people, he felt like he was drowning in energy from all the excitement and anticipation. The sooner he found his meister, the calmer he would be. His hand fell to his side and then both of them ended up in his sweater pocket. It was then he noticed a blonde kid, much shorter, and probably younger than he, standing in front of the room. He read the label on the tag and breathed in deeply through his nose. "Well, here it goes..." His feet dragged as he tried to hunch his shoulder. He wanted to be a bit shorter than the others, yet he felt like he was towering over everyone. Why did he have to get his mother's tall genes...? When he made it up front to the blond guy, he cleared his throat. "You don't happen to be Matthew Loring, right? He's my meister... I-I'm Mikio." He gestured to himself and slightly cringed when he stuttered. So much talking. Ugh. He couldn't wait to get out of here. And he sure hope he didn't look like an idiot if this wasn't Matthew
One more character: Weapon Character sheet Name: Mikio Ticchi Age: 15 Appearance: Spoiler Weapon Type: Claw gauntlet. Weapon Appearance: Kind of looks like this. Personality: Anti-social and rather shy, doesn't care much to interact with people unless he's comfortable around them. He'll still be friendly and try not to be rude, but unless you keep him interested in a conversation, he'll try to keep it short and sweet if he doesn't know you very well. Keeps to himself, has a keen eye for detail, and tries to find someone who leads in any situation and panics if decisions are left solely up to him to come up with. Will stick to his best friends like glue, but most of the time he likes to be by himself. He comes out of his shell if he's around animals, especially cats. Backstory: Spoiler Mikio has always been a quiet child all his life. His mother would brag that he was the easiest baby she had ever had. His older sister tended to have the feisty spirit in her, always loud, and constantly getting into someone's business. Mikio would constantly be picked on by her, and thus learned to keep to himself as much as possible and stay out of trouble. Until one fateful day, on his way home from school, Mikio saw one of his classmates he knew being bullied by a couple of girls. He wanted to turn the other way, or find someone else to help break up the situation, but things went downhill fast and there was no time to run the other way. Instead, Mikio moved out of character towards danger, knocking a bully down and stood in front of his classmate before another hit was laid. That's when time seemed to stand still; for his hand turned into a claw like weapon, and the bully's shirt was torn in front in ribbons. Not a scratch on the skin was made, but fear took over the small group, and they retreated. Soon, he got a letter from the DMWA requesting him to enroll into the academy immediately, and his quiet life had been flipped upside down. Other: He's tall for his age. Loves anything to do with cats (if you couldn't tell). Seems like he's a push over, but he does have some will power locked away somewhere to stand up for others in time of need. Mikio also learned how to speed read and can get through a book in a shorter amount of time than normal, remember it, and recall information almost perfectly. Discord ID: In Zoey's Profile
Meister Character sheet Name: Zoey Pryor Age: 14 Appearance: {here} Personality: The get-to-it kinda gal who refuses to have her limitations be limitations. Stubborn, she doesn't make excuses, she does what ever is required of her and sometimes a little more if she can. Seems to trail off in thought a lot, and then snaps back down to earth if her attention is required as if she had been listening the whole time. Zoey will stand up for those she cares about in a heartbeat, and tries to find something to smile about every day. She does have her sad moments (and who doesn't), but she doesn't let it drag her around for long. Why did you become a Miester: To beat the odds that have been thrown at her, to protect others from those who intend to do great harm, and to prove herself that she is more than capable of carrying on the family tradition to be a weapon meister. Backstory: Spoiler Once, Zoey was able to see the world in all its color, and then one day after she turned four, she became very sick. Strange enough, the sickness only affected her eyes to the point everything became painfully bright to the point where she couldn't open her eyes in a dimly lit room without feeling like flaming needles were being stabbed deep in her eyes into her head. She was placed in the darkest room possible for nearly a year as doctors and specialists scratched their head, wondering what had caused this suffering. They tried all sorts of remedies and treatments, but nothing seemed to work. With no cure in sight, Zoey then found that if she covered her eyes with a thick blindfold, she could step out into the world again without the searing pain. And strange enough, she could see silver outlines of things in front of her, just not the colors she once admired and loved. It wasn't the same as before, but it was better than being stuck indoors in a dark place all the time. Soon she learned how to see souls of those she came in contact with, and the color of them. Despite her dad wanting her to take things easy because of her "limited sight", Zoey decided at the age of six that she was going to join the DWMA and be the best blind Meister ever to carry on the family tradition. So she trained, and practiced how to hold a weapon, how to fight, how to defend herself, and how to use her soul sight better, along with listening to every sound, and identifying smells to figure out where her opponent is. After submitting an application to the school, Zoey and her family were shocked to learn that she had been accepted, but on a few conditions... She would let Lord Death assign her to the best compatible partner possible, and she was to see Lord Death about her eyes ever so often. Other: Zoey has a "birth defect" under her right eye that kind of looks like a tattoo of a crescent moon and wears a blindfold at all times, unless there's complete darkness. Even with the littlest bit of light, she gets a horrible headache with a high-pitch ringing in her ears, and almost becomes paralyzed by pain the brighter the light is. The blindfold she wears helps her work through the side effects of her strange illness; the sensitivity to light. She can see outlines of people and things, but she can't read text unless it has some kind of depth to it. So she either depends on braille, or someone else to read words out loud to her. Also, her family has a bad history with witches. Discord ID: Maka Albarn#1042
I'm trying. D: how do I join via phone app? O.o
