We're fine. As said above I know it would be foolish to actually vote for Cat right now. The worst I would do would be to declare that I would be voting that way tomorrow (which I won't actually do at least until Cat responds, or in the unlikely event that she doesn't). I'm wanting to add pressure somewhere else where the person is around to respond, I just haven't decided who that should be yet.

That's a perfectly valid concern. Combined with my admittedly mid-level activity that many people have mentioned as being a Mafia behavior, it would be wise to keep an eye on me. But as a quick defense...
I haven't voted mostly because I'm naturally quite trusting and, being my first game, I haven't really learned to turn that off enough to vote. Even when it comes to voting with the intention to retract after a response I'm just slow on the draw. For example we now have 3 votes on @Cat~ and with a hammer at 6 now it would be suspicious if I did vote that way, especially before Cat responds to all this.

But I think I best get acclimated by jumping in, so I'll try and see where it makes sense to put a vote and respond later today. (Hopefully in a couple of hours)

I actually hadn't been thinking about that usage. Although if that is part of why Blaine was targeted I'm surprised no one else at least mentioned that I also have been.

To me I was thinking of it like cleaning out the clutter. Like we can't make a useful move now, but we can clean house a bit and be better prepared for next time.

Sorry for the delay, IRL stuff + somewhat unnecessary math. Also I've so far only read a handful of the posts made while I was writing this, but I don't think that changes the content of this little homework assignment and they will be read. Anyway..

@Cat~'s role started as Blaine's, but it's hard to lift anything from that. I actually had plans to put Blaine up on later parts of house cleaning voting because he would be too hard to analyse. If you think he's Mafia then you see his posts as being overly defensive or aggressive. If you think he's town then that's just the way he is and he hasn't adjusted properly to how this game is played. @Cat~ has a few moments of interest though.

First is the push for a no lynch when we thought that was still an option. I can understand a Town player not wanting to risk the 10/13 (~77%) chance of killing a Town. But as Makaze even pointed out in the OP, lynching is a good thing. On the surface it is the only way to remove Mafia (which the Day 1 odds of ~23% aren't that terrible). And the earliest Mafia can win is after 4 Days with a count of 3/5. But if we fail to lynch only once that fourth day could end with 3/6, still a victory but now with more faces for them to hide behind. But it was still more than 3x more likely to kill a Town player. and the instinct not to kill an innocent, especially with so little information to go off of, is pretty strong.

Second, when discussing the possibility of Krowley being replaced from inactivity there was this post.
This is a rather odd sentiment. The sub ought to have a chance to prove themselves when convenient, but all actions done in that role are important in figuring out what that role is. Plus it wasn't even a significant factor on the Krowley case from what I gather. Krowley was only being voted because of the inactivity housecleaning. And that movement was mostly a combination of loss aversion (i.e. we aren't losing valuable Town players) and sending the Mafia a message that they can't go inactive. I at least didn't get the sense that people really thought inactive = Mafia, only a somewhat higher chance that we want to snuff out. Certainly not suspicion to a degree that an active sub couldn't fix almost instantly. All of that to say, the far more applicable case is @Cat~'s, and trying to escape the shadow of Blaine who was being seriously looked at. But also as said in the quote most of that stigma was already gone at that point. It could be an attempt to solidify that distance, or Cat may have thought Krowley was in more trouble than I did.

Really I feel like I'm making mountains out of molehills.
And in part because of being away today (which is cool) that's really all I've got to add on @Cat~. Other points have already been publicly discussed. It's all pretty small stuff, but it's mostly the quantity that concerns me.

On another note though, we are finally getting things moving and I feel we need more time for the analyses to come to a meaningful place. So I'm going to ##Vote: Extend Day as mentioned here. (Not sure if the ## Syntax is expected on that, but it can't hurt)

I will say this real quick. I had no idea where Heart was aligned, but it is in the Mafia's best interest for the Town to play badly. So @Marushi spending the time to help some of us get better at the game goes a long way to making me think she's Town. The only reasons I gather for Mafia doing it is 1) To be seen as trustworthy to avoid suspicion. And 2) To guide the logic the town uses to exploit it. Except case 1) is a large gamble that could do more harm than good. And @Marushi was vying for different people to develop their own tactics, with only subtle points. I certainly don't see any of the encouraged points to be exploitable.

Intentionality loops really make this whole thing tricky. My knee jerk reaction is to agree with @Cat~ and say that @Calxiyn seems certain of @al215 more than is available in the thread, thus making her look like Mafia or Cop. But Mafia and cop both don't want to be that obvious due to fear of being killed. Which in turn can actually make such confidence a decent cover.

All in all I agree that we shouldn't publicly spend time trying to figure out who the cop is (anyone doing it on their own is fair game and makes sense), but it is important to realize when motives that look like Mafia could be attributed to the cop as well so that we don't end up lynching the cop.

I've got weekend plans too. I just don't expect them to impact the game much. But it is nice to know that the day can be a bit longer if enough of us think our use of time was too hindered. That being said, let's try not to. This game takes long enough as it is.

Well I guess that was to be expected based on what people said about Krowley. And in the same vein it doesn't tell us much. Shame too, I was looking forward to what people were talking about. I mean I could read previous games but it just isn't the same.

BTW I know my activity slipped towards the end of that last day. The gist of it is that giving a friend a ride turned into a whole day affair. I was checking a bit from my phone but I couldn't quite keep up with the thread, much less post anything meaningful.

My only thing with this is that acronyms are usually used to save time from typing the whole thing, and this makes it longer instead of shorter so I'm not sure how often it will really be used. But I do think it will be used some and members can certainly have some fun with it. Hell Plums already has the ball rolling on that.

Wow, I saw Plums say it was a bump but didn't check the date before posting. That was long time coming.

To play a bit of Devil's advocate, my first impressions of Blaine elsewhere have him pinned as being a bit trolly at times. So being aggressive or aloof isn't out of character. I would chalk it up to that before being overly nervous on Day 1 or anything like that. On the flip side it makes him really hard to analyze which basically kicks the can down the road.

I haven't analyzed gameplay trailers or anything, but the two demos didn't feel wildly different in combat. The most significant change I remember was that Duscae had you arrange combos ahead of time and use one attack button, whereas Platinum had you equipping different weapons to different buttons to swap at will.

In this case it is a game rule mostly to protect people from themselves. If you look suspicious and someone starts digging through your posts and they find edits then it looks like you are hiding something.

And we don't mind double posting because 1) The site merges double posts under certain conditions. And 2) Posts don't count in the Playground forum anyway (at least if I'm remembering correctly).

So yeah, corrections should be done as a double-post or a quote in this game. Anywhere else you can knock yourself out.

You do. It says that in the OP under "How to Play" instead of "Rules" but it is there.[DOUBLEPOST=1467230495][/DOUBLEPOST]Bah, messed up the BBCode, but no edits. :(

Mish said she just ran down the player list in the opening post until she found someone that hadn't posted yet. Heart is #9 on that list, while G-dog is #12. Basically just a glorified coin flip.

My only knee-jerk suspicion is Mish for having the first name drop. But that was on Midnight's lead to get things moving a bit, which has actually happened. And I imagine all three people involved in that knew it was risky at some level so I have to give props. But that just leaves me running blank. I basically just keep looking at people because of being active or inactive, which the fact that I'm doing both shows how little sense that makes.

Well it would be better to have you replaced instead of lynched (if possible) but how long do you think your activity will be low? I mean it doesn't dramatically change the game to be out for a game day or two. But having an inactive Townie hanging around would be slight Mafia advantage. And having an inactive Mafia member just gets weird.

I keep typing things up and then realizing my idea is stupid and scrapping it. There is just so little to go on, everything has holes. I guess it always will because, barring some major screw up, we don't know who anyone is until they're dead. But still.
