When you're reading all this cool stuff about radioactivity and realize that if radioactive materials emit heat while they decay, you could put a bunch of an extremely radioactive material in water, which would make the water evaporate and turn a turbine, converting that heat energy into kinetic energy, which could then be converted into electrical energy! And then, after drawing up all these really nice plans and figuring out how to make it all safe, you realize that you've just reinvented the nuclear reactor.
