This week it's Guardian_Soul that'll be answering your questions. I don't really have any witty comment to add, so let's get right to asking. >>

Now, before you post, take the time to read these rules - I will be enforcing them.

    Rules, Rules, Rules~

1 - Keep it within the rules of the forum, nothing over PG-13. It's still on KHV.

2 - The person in the spotlight does NOT have to answer all the questions.

3 - The person in the spotlight will have to answer the question on a regular basis, daily would be preferred, so dedication will be needed.

4 - You must be nominated in order to be in the spotlight.

5 - Don't start an argument with the person getting questioned. Keep it clean and don't use it as an attempt to flame the person.

6 - Don't ask too many questions. Give the person some time to answer, and let others have a chance to ask. Maximum amount of questions asked to the person in the spotlight by one member is 5, and no more than 30 questions can be put forth at one time. Once that member has answered you may ask more. If you ask more than five questions at once your post will be edited, and if you continue to do so you may be taken off the list for the following week's vote.

I usually don't drag my issues to KHV but I honestly cannot take it anymore. I'm not really sure where to start so bear with me.
Lately I've been feeling depressed or angry or frustrated, sometimes without any particular cause. I'm almost certain I have untreated depression, but I'm not comfortable talking to my parents about it at all and have no means to see a therapist by myself. I'm also not good at talking to teachers anymore.

The emotions I think are caused by the ****** year I've had so far. At the start of the school year, my parents (mother and stepfather) fought often and I had nowhere to turn, and about late November my father stopped talking to me altogether. I emailed him a few times but got no responses, and finally I got a letter from him saying he pretty much wanted nothing to do with me anymore. I haven't tried contacting him since.
My parents still fight fairly often, but if I even try to tell or indicate to them that it's upsetting me I end up getting dragged into the argument. And when my parents aren't fighting with each other, it's with me, and recently it's become more violent than it has in previous years. The insults directed at me have gotten worse and things have been thrown at me and hit - not pillows either, I'm talking hardcover books, metal rulers, things that are heavy and hurt like hell.
I've considered running away for a few days because of this, since I do know how to survive outside for short amounts of time, but for whatever reason I'm convinced otherwise by my friends every time.

When I say friends, I mean friends from KHV. I don't really tell my friends at school about this kind of thing, since my parents are always nice to them, and one of my closest friends has even mentioned that it seems to her like my mother likes her more than me. And honestly, she's probably right. I don't know what I'd say to my friends at school, they know me as a person that is rarely depressed and constantly makes jokes to cheer others up and is supportive. Which is true, I do act like that in front of them, and I do my best to make my friends smile, but some of that cheerfulness is a mask I use to avoid questions from them (or teachers).
So I don't really have anyone to talk to at home or school, and the one friend from school that I do confide in is, as of this morning, in the hospital due to a car accident.

And finally...the main thing that has been causing me hell for the past few months. I'm taking a course called Capstone, and basically it's a year-long research project on a subject of my choice. I decided to do it on the history of art in video games, since gaming is (obviously) something I love. Well...the class is pretty much hell. My teacher is new to the program, so he's trying to prove that he can get us to finish our projects before spring break (mid-April) and because of that he's been a huge ass to the entire class. I'm not saying this because it's just me having problems - he's literally using our class as a means to prove his point. Yeah, we're ahead of the other classes, but our grades are suffering quite badly because of it.
For example, in my thesis I wrote last year as an idea of what I was going to do for my project, I mentioned that if I had time at the end of the year, I would make a game. Before winter break, he asked me how progress on my game was going, and when I said that I hadn't made a game, he said that I had to because I said I would in my thesis. I was behind on writing at this point because I was looking desperately for sources on video games that weren't online, which is nearly goddamn impossible because there really aren't that many books on video games, let alone the history of art in them. I also had my flashdrive stolen during a critical time early on, causing me to lose all my game design stuff from the summer and several essays I had written. I was going to use my break as a way to catch up on writing, but now I had to put that off to learn how to use the program to make the game. By the end of the two weeks, I had some of the essays rewritten, but I had made a decent amount of progress on my game (including making seven sets of my own sprites) and showed him that when we got back. He said the essays were bad and that I should've spent less time making the game.
He also has no idea what my project focuses on, even though I've explained it to him several times, and in order to seem like he knows what he's doing he goes on Wikipedia and lectures me about what I should include in my essays in front of the entire class. Note that the things he looks up and pretends to know have absolutely nothing to do with my project, and again, I've told him that. And yes I know he looks it up on Wikipedia because I had started my basic research by link surfing on it and read exactly the same thing as he says.
Anyway, today I sent him an essay, which he responded to by saying that it was unacceptable because it had one cited source from the internet and that I should have more non-internet sources, and that it was written entirely in first person. The one cited source is from Wikipedia to show where the gaming term sprite originated from, and it's the only place I have found a definition of it. The majority of the essay is about sprites and common knowledge things (and according to this teacher, common knowledge doesn't need to be cited), while the last two paragraphs are my personal experience with working with sprites. They are the only two paragraphs of seven that are written in first person. I didn't know how to change all of that to third person, so I asked my friend, who is doing a similar project to mine but with theater. This is what I got.
Please tell me I'm not the only one that sees something wrong here. :/
So now I have to rewrite my essays that have first person in them, or I'll be getting an incomplete for the quarter, meaning my college acceptance may be jeopardized.

I really don't know what to do at this point, this is probably the lowest point of my life so far and I notice it more and more. I can't sleep, I don't really eat, and I've had some pretty dark (and suicidal) thoughts recently. Like when I'm driving sometimes my mind wanders and I'll think about just driving off the side of the road and wonder if anyone would really care that much. I doubt I'd actually do that, but the fact that the thought's come up more than once (kind of frequently now) bothers me a lot.

This is the OOC/Discussion thread for Virtual Hell. Post signups or general RP discussion here, including any questions about how the game works.

    History Lesson
In the near future, gaming has taken a new level. Several big companies pioneered the next levels of gaming – virtual reality – but one company has completely dominated the rest of the competition. Aeon System Manufacturing, once a humble company, has now turned into a massive corporate giant. No other gaming company can stand against them. And even if competition rises, it disappears in a matter of days. It’s an unspoken agreement among the people of the country that there are underhanded things going on, but as long as life is good no one questions it. There’s no poverty in the cities and no one is homeless; it is more or less a “perfect” society, partially upheld by Aeon. And, seemingly enough, so is the government. In every major city where there is some kind of government position, there is a branch of Aeon there. Aeon’s influence is starting to spread as well, though not quickly. But again, no one questions this.

    Present Day
Aeon System Manufacturing just announced its newest product – still in the beta stage, but guaranteed to shatter any preconceived notions of virtual reality gaming. It’s close to being released, but they still need to test it to work out any bugs. So they’ve asked the people of the country to volunteer for game testing. A select few will be chosen to be the beta testers. They will be sent the necessary hardware and software, all they must do is play the game.

    Playing the Game
What is the game exactly? It’s not really known, but from Aeon’s description it is a “free-roaming online multiplayer” fantasy game. With the advanced virtual reality processors that Aeon has developed, you are literally put in the game as the character you create – and possibilities for creations are endless. As per any fantasy game, there are monsters and quests that appear, sometimes randomly, sometimes purposely.
How you actually control your character hasn’t been disclosed to the public. Shortly after receiving your gaming system, you successfully set it up and boot it. The strange thing is that it knows your name already, and not your gaming name, but your real one. It tells you to create your character and enter a nickname if you prefer one, then instructs you to put on the controls for the system. The controls end up being something similar looking to a bike helmet with a black fiberglass faceplate over the entire front. Upon putting the helmet on, the screen says “WELCOME…” and you feel a strange sensation, as if someone gave you a bad static shock. Once the feeling leaves, you find yourself in a completely new world – and a new body. It’s the body you created for your character. Unlike previous games you’ve played, however, you can’t even feel that you’re sitting at home. It’s like you’ve been completely cut off from reality and exist only in the game. But that’s impossible, right?

    The Dark Side
...Though not as impossible as one might think. The reason many things were undisclosed about the game is that it would be extremely dangerous and almost stupid to play. Fact is, you are disconnected from the normal reality. That shock you felt? That was your conscious transferring from your real body to your virtual one. That’s when you realize that it is impossible for you to manually remove the helmet. You start to panic, not knowing how to get out of this game, when a dark-suited person comes up to you…

    Hunters
They introduce themselves as a Hunter. They say that they’re employees of Aeon to help you with the game – they are real people, but are at Aeon’s headquarters. They explain to you that you can remove the helmet once you meet certain goals in the game, such as when you reach a save point or accomplish a mission. The Hunter says that they cannot tell you anything more about the story, but you will receive notifications about missions or events that will progress the story. They say that it would be in your best interest to try and form a group of several other players and also warn you that this game is very real. Damage taken here will be real, and it will hurt, and you will bleed. So whatever you do…don’t get killed.
The Hunter then disappears, and you are free to explore.

    Honorable Employees
Hunters can freely move between the real world and the virtual one, but they are a suspicious group. Hunters are very close to the top of Aeon – their leader is actually the President of the company. They are an elite group of people, but their darkest secret is also their strongest. All Hunters have a slightly modified genome, infused with animal DNA to bring out their most predatory qualities and make them a force to reckon with. All of their senses are heightened, they are stronger than the average human, and they all look the same. Dark suits and sunglasses. They are trademarks of the group, more so the sunglasses, as they shield everyone else from seeing the red eyes they have. Hunters are the covert operations of Aeon. They are the ones that make competition disappear.
Hunters are supposed to help the players, but that is not their primary goal. They are scouting. Looking for strong enough people to join their ranks so Aeon’s power will extend to surrounding countries. They will not hesitate to eliminate any player deemed too weak, but doing so in the guise of a Hunter would look bad. This is where the animal comes in. Using a skill called Spirit Shift, they are able to transform into whatever animal’s DNA they have. But this skill isn’t just for the virtual world…it can be used in the real world as well.

She suspected that it wasn’t much of an accident, but to survive she quietly moved on. Rei has played video games ever since she was young, so she jumped at the opportunity to test a new one. She lives by herself and has no remaining family.
Personality: Rei is usually upbeat, but she can be quick to anger. When she is serious, she is completely focused on whatever issue is at hand, but because of this she can be stubborn. She does have a darker side that comes out every so often, ranging from intense anger to aggressive behavior. She also gets lonely at times.

Although at the time of his birth his parents weren’t married and as such he bares his mother’s American name instead of his father’s Japanese name. As he grew up he exhibited similar traits to his father’s intellect and business knowledge as well as his ability to make cakes and other deserts. In-game appearance: http://hellobaby.deviantart.com/art/Jester-Girl-189019863
Weapon: She uses a cane as a weapon, though sometimes, she brings out the short sword hidden inside. If she must, she can fight hand-to-hand.
Bio: Civia was no one really special. Middle class family with an older brother and two normal parents. She learned self-defense, as a precaution. Her brother taught her the ways of gaming, so hearing about Aeon, she literally jumped for joy and bolted, wanting to try it. There's nothing interesting about her, really.
Personality: She is serious when she is alone. Logical, philosophical, concentrated. When with other people, she puts up a smile that not many can see through. Is awfully cheerful and humorous when she wants to be. Knows when to give up, but sometimes gives up a bit too easily. Knows how to weigh the consequences, but her sense of morality can sometimes put the life of not only her but others on the line.

Personality: Raiden, not being very talkative, has learned to think about things logically. It takes a lot to make him laugh, though it's usually just a chuckle at best. He knows when to give up, but not without a fight.

    Weapon: http://m9.photobucket.com/image/ani...a-YYH/Robbit_bow20and20arrow.jpg.html?src=www
Bio: Alex was always a gamer-freak. He couldn't get enough of video games. It doesn't matter whether it's a shooter, racing, puzzle or RPG/adventure game; as long as it's a video game. Although, the one type of game he can't stand is sports games; mostly because he was never very good them himself. He was just a normal teenager, living a normal life like everybody else. As soon as he heard at the new game, he was so excited he almost exploded from the sheer excitement. But what Alex doesn't know is that his normal lifestyle will soon change...
Personality: Alex is a very well-rounded teen (not in sports though). What I mean is, he balances his video games and his social life. Because of this, he's not socially ackward and loves talking. He's very peppy and cheerful, but he can get angered easily (because he always gets mad when he doesn't get what he wants; like winning at a video game). He's rarely sad; he tries to be as positive as possible (he believes if you think positive, positive will happen; mostly from video games). Alex is also very friendly toward others. Even though he's always happy, he knows when it's time to be serious.

Not only will it be an amazing experience, but it will be something to keep his mind off of his life problems.
Personality: As stated in the Bio, Nick always has a positive outlook on things. He's always willing to try new things and be happy doing it. When it comes to a serious situation, he can sometimes throw in the un-needed sarcasm at times.

    Name: Sammy
    Age: 18
Appearance: An Asian girl with long dark hair that is always tied in a low ponytail. She always wears a jacket, vest, or sweatshirt of some sort. The jackets and vests are always zipped up to the top. She likes it when the vests or jackets have pockets, particularly zipper pockets. Dark clothes are also a favorite of her's.
    In-game name (if any): Lost_Fire
In-game appearance: Just about the same as her real life appearance except that she wears a brown hooded cloak and sufficient light armor for protection with plenty more pockets in bags or pouches attached to a belt around her waist. She wears boots and some comfortable trousers that are easy to move around in.
Weapon: Two swords and a knife
Bio: Sammy has always been a gamer, specifically an RPG gamer. She is about to head to college and decided to relax by going on a gaming spree. What better way to enjoy herself by signing up to be a beta tester for an Aeon game? She had been looking forward to such an MMORPG for a while now. A game so real you may not want to leave it. A world so fantastic the real world seems like a dream. A true escape. Now that she was picked, she couldn't wait to try it. She's not that athletic, and her reflexes are pretty slow.
Personality: Sammy isn't actually all that spirited. Sometimes she'll be happy for a moment, but then that laughing face will return to its normal stoic face. She can find it hard to concentrate on a single assignment without burning out and losing interest rapidly. Her parents have said that it seemed as if she was "broken", since she used to be such a happy-go-lucky kid. Sammy herself has decided that for whatever reason, she couldn't seem to truly care a lot about certain things. She described it as having lost her "fire". Thus she thought it was an appropriate name for her character. Even though her fire may be lost, she can be fairly passionate about some things, such as unfair things happening to children. Sammy can get very emotional.

Not much is known about his past, but he is ruthless in “business deals” and is not afraid to silence resistance. He is a very powerful Hunter, with his Spirit Shift being a wolf.
Personality: Michael is quiet and cold, with zero tolerance for insubordination. He’s a brilliant young man and has the resources to market the new game globally.

Spirit Shift appearance: (same picture above)
Bio: Richard is a Hunter, originally a drinking friend of the previous owner of Aeon he ended up with a job in accounting until his son took over and he ended up in the Hunters. Because of his muscular size he built up in his 30’s he was already quite a strong person but after getting a Spirit Shift he became even stronger and gained rampaging speed to match from being a lion.
Personality: Richard is a stern man who prefers to remain silent unless needed but talks to himself in mumbles while he works as it helps him think. This changes drastically after a drink or two and he becomes very cheery and outgoing, constantly laughing and making terrible jokes. People refer to him as a happy drunk but is serious at business. Before the age of 36 he was in the Marines but was honourably discharged after an injury to his left eye which left his sight lessened.

    Name: Chris Lee
    Age: 37
    Appearance: http://www.deviantart.com/download/138019301/Anime_Guy_by_CannibalTaco34.jpg
    Spirit Shift appearance: http://i1039.photobucket.com/albums/a479/Keyblade474/TheAll-SeeingWhiteTigerPSV-EN-C.jpg
Bio: While Micheal Aeon's father was in charge, Chris was head of Aeon's marketing team. This changed when Micheal was put in charge. He became part of the group known as the Hunters. Not a lot is known about this man, except that his Spirit Shift is a tiger.
Personality: Chris, despite his seemingly caring demeanor, is quite cunning. He appears to be a sensible man, but has a way of twisting words to put things in either his or the company's favor. He is a quick thinker, even under pressure. He also has a wide sense of humor.

    Username: Sufris
    Name: Laurence DeFey
    Age: 36
Appearance: http://browse.deviantart.com/?qh=&section=&q=yondaime#/d58v1t (a tad bit older...I'm sorry. I just like how he looks. XD")
Spirit Shift appearance: http://my.opera.com/qingxiang89/albums/showpic.dml?album=909771&picture=12447764 (a bit bigger, if you will. I can't find the right things.)
Bio: The father of Civia. While he still loves his family, he works as a Hunter, but this is kept secret. The children have no knowledge and the wife has a little, but the wife doesn't know he knows. He often hides this secret by overworking and coming home late. You can imagine how bent-over worried he became when Civia became a beta tester.
Personality: The reason he didn't want to say he worked for Aeon was because he was naturally modest. He is kind and would go to any extent to keep his family safe. As he is also naturally oblivious, he hadn't seen this coming, and because of the financial problems in his family, he cannot quit Aeon. He is caring and likes to smile a lot. If expected, he does his work to the best of his abilities.

    Username: Firekeyblade
    Name: Nox
    Age: 32
Appearance: A strict brunette with her hair always tied in a bun when at work. She is always seen wearing the stereotypical office woman's clothes, that is, a grey top and grey skirt. Occasionally during a holiday season, she will wear a festive hairpin in her hair with her normal attire relatively unchanged.
Spirit Shift appearance: A great horned owl to keep surveillance on the players.
Bio:A woman that is loyal and punctual who works as a secretary for Michael Aeon. She had worked as a secretary for his father as well, and is very thankful to both of them for her job. She never intended to be a secretary as it wasn't her first career choice, but she is happy with this life anyway. Nox is quite fearless and bold when the situation calls for it, but otherwise, she is very quiet and curt with her words and attitude towards others. She treats everyone equally in her slightly frosty attitude, but always addresses all with respect. She is fiercely loyal to the company and volunteered to be a Hunter for a change of pace(As she always wanted to go on an adventure) as well as to further the company's goals. She never talks about her personal life.
Personality: Emotionless like a robot. Some people ahve wondered whether she is one. Though she may be serious for a great majority of the time, sometimes she'll crack a snide remark or say something sarcastic. She is extremely loyal and thankful to the Aeon company and genuinely cares for everyone she knows, though she may not show it. She considers herself fairly weak, thus she is resigned to acting as a spy to keep track of what's going on in game for Michael.

This week's victim is Fearless. She disappeared a while back, but it looks like she's here to stay. A frequenter of the Duel Arena, feel free to attack her with your questions. :'D

    Ask on.
