Technically any humans on another world (such as Mars) would be deemed alien. If you want to read more into it (the OP I mean, or anyone for that matter) I would recommend The Mars Trilogy (Red Mars, Green Mars and Blue Mars). In these books the gradual terraforming of Mars is described along with all the social and political fallout this entails. Including the Terran vs Martian conflict that springs up once Mars is sufficiently self-sufficient with both sides verging on war with each other.

Maybe that's the point, being attractive would take away from her talent. People would see a pretty face and not a singer.
