I took some time off from my KH3 (due to a much needed breather) some time back, and this inadvertently happened to be around the same time R2 came to an end. As a result, I was motivated on the spur-of-the-moment to write a oneshot about an 'extended' alternative ending. A lot of it is based on popular theories that have been floating around post-series finale, so take it however you like.

I was about to say 'what're you talking about next year', but then I remembered the PS3 version was delayed.

I already preordered this for my 360 a month back, so that's probably why I didn't even remember about the PS3 version.

I can already see all the complaints about dead pixels.

I just don't see longevity in this design. And considering a large portion of consumers are complete ******s in taking care of their own equipment, this 'PSP2' just doesn't seem built to last.

If you're talking about 'good ol sitting back and taking time' I still don't see how ACOG makes things harder. ACOG increases your accuracy as well as shortens the delay of how long it takes to bring the scope up, and lessens the orientation discrepancy from hip to scope. This is fairly true for almost all guns that use ACOG.

Bottom line: ACOG gives you more of an edge with a gun than if you had it removed. That's why it's a weapon upgrade. Using a G36c naked takes more skill than using a G36c with an ACOG. The same is true for any sniper rifle.

R700 and Barrett takes more luck than skill in every situation? I beg to differ. R700 and Barrett both have a stronger damage output than the M40. You can kill people in one shot with both those sniper rifles if you know where to hit them.

But let's examine exactly what you just said. R700 and Barrett don't guarantee a 1-hit kill. This is true because to guarantee a 1-hit kill when an enemy has full health, you must hit them in the upper chest or in the head (unless they're packing Jug). If you hit them anywhere else, you are more likely to need to shoot twice to land the kill. How to solve this problem? Hit them in the chest or the head the first time..

Secondly, the R700 has the slowest fire rate out of all the sniper rifles. This means that if you don't get the kill on the first shot, there is considerable delay before you're able to fire again and thus giving your opponent more time to escape. How to solve this? Never miss the chest or the head.

Lastly, with the Barrett you have the least accurate sniper rifle but the strongest damage output. This lack of accuracy makes quick-scoping much more difficult because the gun gives you very little leeway in terms of how close to the chest or head the bullet needs to be in order to land the kill. Once again, to solve this problem you simply need to place your shots carefully and precisely.

Essentially, the player's own skill has to make up for the weaknesses of these rifles. It is hardly a matter of luck if you understand the shortcomings of the rifles and how to compensate for them when you shoot. Rather, the fact that both these rifles are inferior to the M40 in overall stats just means that the M40 has less weaknesses and thus requires less effort from a player to use effectively.

On top of that, you then mention that M40 ACOG guarantees a 1-hit kill due to a 'glitch' that allows 100% kill rate except only in the cases of wall penetration and Juggernaut. In other words, you're saying that once you put on the ACOG, you can aim arbitrarily at any part of the opponent's body and still get the frag. I don't see how this takes more skill if you're given so much more leeway in terms of what's required of you to secure a kill.

Perhaps you're misunderstanding what exactly it is I'm trying to say. I'm not debating which sniper rifles kill more efficiently. I'm talking about which sniper rifles take more skill to use. There's a difference.

So I retract my statement about a month. I evidently misread the one-week delay as something else.

Gonna get my sackboy on soon.

    God, that's dirty.

I have a hard time believing that a delay this huge was due to Qu'ran lyrics being found in a background song.

Certainly there has to be a bigger reason?

    @Harlequin:

I'm not sure if putting an ACOG on anything (especially a sniper) definitively means it takes more skill to use. The fact that the ACOG brings up the scope significantly faster than without it doesn't require more skill; on the contrary, it requires less in terms of getting the crosshair on the enemy quicker.

I suppose one can call me biased because I laugh at ACOG snipers half the time, but unless you plan to quick scope the crap out of people on Vacant or Shipment, I'd say it takes more skill to use the snipers naked since the orientation of your enemy when you transition from hip to scope is far larger in discrepancy.

If you ask me, quick scoping naked snipers > ACOG quick scopes (as if you need any more assistance enlarging your target).

Also, M40 is the easiest sniper to use. Considering it's the third strongest sniper rifle in the game, it has a ridiculous amount of accuracy to go with it along with a fairly decent fire rate. If you want to test skill, I'd sooner advise people to go around quick scoping with the .50 Cal or R700.

M40 ACOG is certainly the most efficient method to snipe because it gets the job done with very little difficulty, but that's why if you want to test skill, one should use more difficult weaponry and try to get the same results.

    I chuckle at this.

The entire point of having different characters for each console was to help provide incentive for someone to buy a particular console over the other. Now this just looks like they gave in to their own marketing ploy and made it so you could get the best of both worlds. Naturally if anyone were to inquire now about what made them do such a thing, they'd come up with some reason that suggests it was a decision they wanted to implement since the beginning.

Was there a stalement of popularity between Yoda and Vader?

I ramble. Too bad I never plan to buy this.

    Thanks, Kairi_girl_92.

It's great to see that some people are still reading my work. I know the gaps between chapters have been extremely long in many cases, so I appreciate the continued support.

And good luck with your writing as well; practice makes perfect as they say.

Been just fiddling with PSP lately; interchanging Crisis Core, Bleach Heat the Soul 4, Gundam SEED Rengou vs ZAFT Portable and FFTactics Lion War.

Other than that, just the occasional COD4 on 360 and enjoying the LittleBigPlanet Beta.

    It's been a while, I know. School's school, right?

Anyway, my original intention was to wrap up Act II in one chapter, but after pre-planning for so long, I've come to realize there's just too much content to cover, so it will have to be split into three chapters; the final chapter spanning two separate releases with a buffer just before it. That buffer is the new chapter I'll be releasing today.

Note: Those who are new to this story (since I'm sure there were new members who've joined since I first posted this fic and haven't been able to see it since it was BURIED in the depths of the Creativity Corner), I've posted every available chapter thus far (including the one I'm posting today) on Fanfiction.net in their final edit forms. What this means is that if you do decide to read the fic based on the chapters posted in this thread, bear in mind that some changes have been made to certain details of the plot, and the overall grammar/spelling/punctuation has been improved. So if you want to read the most revised version, FF.net is the way to go

The link can be found here. Please review if you can. ^_^

    Anyway, here's Chapter 20.

Most of the reasons have already been said, but in essence:

    - NTSC to PAL
    - Different rating system--each game has to be screened, and if there are nuances, they need to be changed and thus thrown back into development for scene edits/omissions, etc
    - Europe isn't just the UK. Since Europe is treated as the name suggests, a continent, the game in question needs to be translated in all the languages associated with the region before release (usually includes German, French, Italian, etc). This isn't like North America where the primary language is English.

This was a bigger issue in the past, but it's been better this generation. Sometimes Europe gets games sooner than anyone else, other times around the same time. The only kinds of games that tend to get delayed the most for Europe are those from Japanese developers. Others aren't so bad.

Well you said so yourself, it's 'Europe', not just the UK. Therefore all of Europe has to wait until all the translations are done (including voice over work) for each country associated with the region.

In practice, Hardcore and Casual is defined by how you approach your video games (and most often, there is a correlation with genre). There is a pretty clear distinction between the two because the industry itself markets their games with the intention of 'appealing to the hardcore' or to the 'casual' or how some of them phrase it: the expanded audience.

So it's not entirely opinion since game developers create games with certain criteria in mind.

Hardcore gamers, by definition of the industry, pertains more to individuals who like to invest loads of amount of time into their games, whether for 100% game completion purposes, or for competition (the extreme of this are people who compete in MLG and the like). FPS games and RPGs are usually advertised and marketed for the Hardcore gamer as both genres usually require an invested amount of time (FPSs being played online for a number of years, and RPGs with the 100% completion appeal). Halo, Gears, Fallout 3, Final Fantasy, even Nintendo's Mario, Zelda, and Metroid franchises are examples that are developed primarily for the Hardcore. I'm not saying casuals wouldn't take interest in these, but these franchises are usually made and labeled with the core gamer in mind (Mario probably being the biggest exception with their endless amount of spin-offs).

Casuals, by way of the industry, pertain more to people who enjoy video games, but there isn't any distinct dedication toward 'getting better' or having any clear long-term goals with any video game. The expanded audience, as some put it, is pretty much what the Wii has concentrated on this generation. Most of the Wii titles out today are a prime example of games developed and marketed for the casual gamer: Boom Blox, Mario Party 7, Wii Fit, etc. These games are less about game completion and skill excelling as it is just having a fun time with your friends. Sure, there is some competition in Mario Party, but the core gamer isn't going to be satisfied with being the best at pressing the A button the fastest. These games are more about the instant gratification, which is understandable for the casual gamer because most of the time, they turn on their consoles to have fun rather than spend the next couple of hours grinding synthesis materials for that ultimate weapon they want.

Again, what defines a Casual from a Hardcore is more about how one approaches a video game, not so much a measurement of how many hours of gaming you play a week, or how much money you spend on video games, or how quickly you can beat that new RPG.

Sure, I'd say it's possible to be in the middle, and there are many developers who try to create games that can appeal to both a casual or hardcore attitude. I'm a bit of both myself, but if I were try to divide it, I'd say I'm 90% hardcore, 10% casual.
