The flow in this is just ah-mazing, But it needs a bit more depth in my opinion it is very 2-D looking to me. Maybe sharpen up the the foreground effect a bit. But over all not bad.

If you do it in paint then good luck, cause then you are erasing pixel by pixel or else you are going to get a white spot on the border of the sprite
You crop out the sprite you want. Then take the magic wand tool and click on the white part. Then inverse the selection and presto. Drag onto new canvas
