The assignment was due on Tuesday, so I had printed out this thread at around 6 am est. All posts before that were not seen by my teacher. He said by law he could not accept it as my assignment because it was not mine. Although he was glad I hadn't pasted it in a word document and claimed it as mine, so we both worked out a deal about it and I passed the assignment because he said he didn't expect anyone to take it to the internet and ask people their opinions about Comparing Tragedies. He also says he will try not to do assignments like these again because he didn't realize that was how people felt about it. Thank you guys for posting feedback though, I really enjoyed reading them. I don't think we have to close the conversation at that because this shouldn't be closed at my assignment being done. I just wanted people to have an update about that.
Aislin was finished introducing herself when she heard an introduction from a boy named Adrian. For a moment the introduction seemed kind up until, "Besides, your just doing this for your five dollar check..am I right?" Aislin's eyes widened at this interaction and then she continued to listen to him. She didn't feel offended at all, but she didn't know how the testosterone filled males around her were going to react. She kindly stepped over to Adrian and spoke, "You just met them hun. You probably are not looking for friends, but even if you aren't, being unfazed by anger is not going to help the atmosphere of the cabin out. Don't throw pinecones in the fire." Aislin stepped forward and whispered hoping only Adrian would hear it, "You'll get bored with fists thrown at ya." She stepped back and looked over at the rest of the group and smiled, "Um... how about we try and change up the subject. There's that scavenger hunt tonight. Or... we could... um..." Aislin stood there thinking on something to change the topic to, her hands on her chin as she tapped her foot. Trying to figure something out quick before everyone broke into swears at each other. She also had no idea how authoritarian the counsler... Julius? Would be. She listened to Julius and stopped thinking about topic changers. He seemed to have everything under control, and seemed to have an interesting sense of humor. Just don't keep me up at night with this "badass" buisness.

Aislin had zoned out after Kevin had spoken. She had been eating a marshmallow she had caught from them being thrown. When she got her cabin assignment she had accidentally walked the long way to Cabin A. When she got inside she waved her hands in an apology and claimed a bed before turning to the others in the cabin, "Sorry I am a little late. My name is Aislin~" she announced happily and she walked over to the rest of the group with her hands in her pockets. ooc: sorry I'll write a better post when I get home tonight, I just wanted to have her caught up while I had time.

SplitOverload- Everyone else has pretty much said what I love about this. The smudging, the colours, and the overall use of the theme of the round. The smudging has a couple issues in my opinion when it comes up to the person, I feel like it should have overlapped him on his right shoulder a similar way on the left shoulder? I find it more of a minor complaint really. Oswin Oswald- I'm not a big fan Mass Effect fan, but I knew what you were going for because I know of the game. I really like the signature, especially that effect in the way background where it's like a silhouette of him the background , but I think there is way too much in it. I think it would have been perfect with the 2 solid colors on the right out of it. Other than that, it's great. Xia Amane- The problem might be because I am not familiar with the character or what it is from(I looked and saw it was Miku), but I still loved this, but I felt like more could have been added. As for the red background and the red text, it really didn't work out, at least to me. Maybe if the text's placement on the background was off of that spot it would have looked better. It is still a very nice signature though.
[/url] There seemed to be a complete split on the bus when it came to the overall atmosphere. People were either extremely happy, or extremely sad. God forbid people get away from their televisions for a little while. Aislin found herself in a happy middle. Camping was definitely her thing, but at the same time she just wanted to stay in air-conditioning. On the bus, Aislin spent most of her time answering small hellos and putting on sunscreen and bug spray. If the sun didn't try to attack her with it's rays this year, the female mosquitoes searching for nutrition certainly would. After she was done she conversed for the rest of the time with the person sitting next to her on the bus about... pointless things? At least until they started singing their lungs out with the others and then she tuned them out. Aislin purposefully brought her little Ipod shuffle with her but listened to her other Ipod instead. After the previous year she couldn't handle the deep quiet at night when she tried to get to sleep, so she was hoping she could get by with slipping her shuffle into her pocket and only pulling it out to get her to sleep at night. Not that she was sure she could get away with it, but with a simple prayer maybe just maybe it could slip through. It's not like I attach to it all the time... unlike some people. The ferry ride was an uneventful ride for her, and there was not much for her to talk about.not really, cstar just messed up and forgot about the ferry and added it in at last moment. heheheheAislin ran off the ferry as fast as she was able to and stretched out in the sun before yelling out, "Woo-hoo! Hello camp~" A couple of people walking by stared at her with an annoyance in their faces, "What? Don't look at me like that. I'd rather be here than locked in a school building." Aislin walked away from the group as fast as she could. Not because she felt embarrassed but because the group behind her was moving equally as fast to get off the pier. As Aislin walked she remembered first night scavenger hunt based on a conversation she overheard as she was running for camp circle. A grin was present on her face as she thought about it. Last year, which was her actual first year at camp(she did not count the year before last, where they sent her home after the first day because of a horrible allergic reaction she had to something in the food), she had a really good time searching for items. Everyone in her group was freaking out over how dark it was, they clearly never looked up at the sky to see the brilliant full moon and stars illuminating everything in it's glow. Aislin walked over to camp circle and immediately set her mind on a mission, she was going to make a friend today. She stood scanning the area, as though for prey, for a person to interact with. --- Ipod Shuffle --- Mood: Excited! --- Outfit --- Day 1 --- Location: Bus/Camp Circle---

So I am pretty sure I am one of those proud people who shouts how I am a Bostonian all the time on this forum, but I will say anyway how I live in the Greater Boston Area. Recently (last week) we went through this whole Boston Marathon Explosion crisis where everyone was in a panic over here. Today we got back to school after April Vacation, and I got into my History class today and our teacher asked us to write a homework essay comparing the Boston Bombings to... either 9/11 or the Oklahoma Car Bombing.... In my opinion, I absolutely hate the idea of comparing two tragic events next to each other. I want to know what others think about it... Now, we don't necessarily have to discuss it at that scale. Let me give another example based on another experience I had. When I was 8 my grandmother had died and I was feeling awful and did not go to school for a week. When I got back into school a girl went up to me an asked me why I was gone and I answered honestly. The girl looked at me, chuckled and said, "Well, both my uncles died in a car crash last week and I was in school. And that was much worse." So now I will repeat myself. What is your opinion about comparing tragedies? Do you think it is natural and okay to, or are you more like me and find it just disrespectful. If my side wasn't explained enough I will write a more detailed standing on my opinion if wanted.
