Genre: Fantasy/Adventure/Drama Rating: PG-13 There was smoke coming from the Holy Tower of Lazophel Its great height at the center of the overreaching landscape made it so that absolutely no one could have avoided seeing it’s fire, and those beyond the Tekal could see its smoke. Commoners and nobles alike stood in wonder and horror asking themselves who could have done such a thing. Were the High Families at war once more? Atop the highest mountain of the land, a woman stood watching, donning gray robes which flapped in the breeze. She had a smirk on her face, as if she knew exactly what was going on and was entertained. Swooping in from the horizon, a raven flew past and above her. The woman turned to look the blackened bird with familiarity. They perched themselves on a tree before transforming into a younger man with raven hair and red eyes. Within his hands, he seemed to hold a talisman of some kind and he jumped down from the tree and approached the woman. Once there, the boy took a knee as he held it out to her. “My Lady, I have recovered the artifact of the Novenun Family. I made sure to leave quite the scene as well. As far as the people are aware, the Novenun Family has now backed down on their end of the treaty.” The cloaked woman took the talisman in her hand and examined it before smiling, “Excellent work, Sior. You have far surpassed my expectations, and you will be rewarded.” Walking close to the two from behind, another man with long blond hair and silver eyes approached. He towered over the other two, and the height disparity was more apparent the closer he stepped, “And just how do you expect them to not take it as grand theft and instead a withdrawal, Avindi?” The woman smirked and turned towards the blond and replied, “The Novenun family has been in a rather large disagreement with the High Family council for quite some time now. And since they just departed for the Serpentside, it is the perfect time to frame them. They are cut off from communication, and if any family decides to break treaty in any way, a war will begin. Besides… the war doesn’t need to happen, just the stability needs to break. And with the Novenun artifact in our possession, the seal will not last long.” Avindi gripped the artifact tightly, turning her head back towards the distance to witness the smoke and flames, “I will assure it for myself when the time comes that the Second Raid will not fail.” A possible war among the High Families is on the horizon, after the sudden and violent dissolve of the Novenun Family from the Treaty of Lazophel. The High Families long ago banded together, during a time of hostile invasion, to seal the barriers between worlds to prevent from being invaded and destroyed. With one of the High Families appearing to disband, and taking their part of the seal for themselves, their magic is beginning to dissolve. In a panic of sorts, the Vegh clan decided to put together a random group of those not affiliated with any clan to head towards the Serpentside in search of the Novenun family. This randomly put together party however, are unaware that a simple diplomatic mission is the beginning of a much more complex tale, one that may lead them to become new legends of their world, whether they wanted to or not. The World The Holy Tower of Lazophel Magic High Families The Union of Giada and Lucien High-clan Inkan The world on which we stand is named Tuthauhothri. No one tends to refer to it as that, as this world is very continental. The other continents are much smaller. There is Ezi, Qilan, and Unilo. Then of course there is Tekal, the high continent. The other continents are separated and their affairs are their own, but if anything happens to the world, Tekal tends to take the representative role. The major threat to our world, are the breakings of dimensional seals. It is not as if we are fighting demons, but sometimes they seem like true barbarians. Their goal seeming to be to deplete the world of what is here before destroying it. We have not managed to make technology to cross over the barrier, we can only prevent it from being broken through, and it is through more classical means than science. Those belonging to this world would know it was the center of ancient knowledge, treaties, and a symbol of hope and unity for the continent of Tekal. The realm once plagued with much in fighting and war, when the major families of Tekal had their own interests and goals in mind and would do anything to achieve them. These wars had been interrupted when the Grand Raid of Zann began. The High Families decided to settle their differences for the greater good, and the wars were put to an end to destroy the invading Zann. The Tower was built as a symbol of unity, and the main location for the seals that ended the raid. Lazophel soon became a hot spot of magical learning and technological development, where even the other continents wouldn’t dare destroy for fear of the potential weaponry within. This realm has magic, but you cannot learn magic you do not naturally gain yourself. There are the Physicai, Emotai, and Extrokai. And each person only gains the use of three magics in their sect. Physicai are modifications and manipulations than can be done to the body. Emotai are powers involving emotional/mental manipulations. Extrokai involve manipulations outside of the body. Most gain lesser powers and do not worry as much about growing them due to the world’s reliance on science. If one were to maximize their power’s potential, it would involve extensive physical training. Each person gains three powers, the first power is a family power. This is usually most times (but not all times) gained from the mother and is shared by the entire family. The secondary power is a personal one, each person has their own unique power. Some people may share the same power, or even share their secondary power with another family’s existing one. However, the secondary power is always less powerful than the family power. The third power is another personal one, gained after a person has fully developed. Their power tends to be adapted from the lifestyle of the person. Whether it be connected to the initial power or not. If a person was born in a family that holds one sect (Physikai, Emotai, Extrokai) of power, they are automatically going to have all powers be from that sect. The Nine High Families control the world. Or rather, what is known as the High Families. The number was dropped slowly, casually people may deem this due to the fact it is just one less word and easier to mention since most know there are nine. However, the real reason is because there are only Eight active families. While nine had banded together originally, the ninth family: Tamaza [Extrokai], was massacred. The family could not withdraw on their own from the treaty, so the family is still recognized in official agreements. The following families are those that are currently active: Maragos [Extrokai] Vegh [Emotai] Novenun [Physikai] Macedo [Physikai] Sidabras [Physikai] Griswold [Emotai] Basseches [Emotai] Seibel [Extrokai] Each family controls their own territory, with lax guards on it since the end of the Grand Raid of Zann. All of them have their own particular mastery. Maragos with crafting. Vegh with education. Novenun with agriculture. Macedo with military. Sidabras with mining. Griswold with trade. Basseches with religion. Seibel with cartography. The Tamaza family, when present, had their mastery in the arcane arts. The Maragos and Seibel families were families that while not close, shared no rivalry between each other. However, a recent conflict between the families caused quite a calamity more so with the common folk that were rivals rather than the families. To put an end to the rest, the families agreed to marriage, which the Seibel were not completely fond of. This on traditional terms would mandate the loss of the Seibel’s eldest son, Lucien. The reason this seemed particularly harmful was due to the loss of the Head Family’s two other sons, Alain and Fiacre, in the prior four years due to sickness and murder. The Lesser Seibel’s considered this a threat more than a union. When the Maragos had been clarified on the situation, they agreed to give their daughter, Giada, to the Seibel family instead. An outcry was still being heard from the Maragos, as Giada Maragos was a very talented sculptor and her work was bringing a new generation of families wishing to learn Maragos craftsmanship. The current news on the family is that they are attempting to find a home that is close enough to Maragos crafting hubs for Giada to still work for her family, but children would still be born under the Seibel namesake. Despite the political end of it, Giada and Lucien are in fact happy so far, despite the arranged marriage it was. Their relationship has been pushed a lot more in the news, with updates on Giada’s dress and the wedding location, to keep people’s minds off the issue with Lazophel. The less eyes on it, the better the crowd control. While high clans are not the only ones to receive inkans, only high clan inkan is enchanted with high level extrokai magic that requires the family to activate the seal with their own blood. It is a stamp seal that is in the shape of the family name and works as professional and personal signatures. There is the one that is only the last name usually used for official documents, and another with the first name included for personal documents and signatures. It has happened in history where a family will have their blood stolen and seals stolen to forge documents, but it is impossible to not leave a trail if this is the case, and once the family catches wind of the forged document everyone knows it’s forged in minutes. » Please abide by KHV and RPA rules. Due to the way his walking path for his office was, Jael just happened to end up walking behind his sister and Garrett. He didn't really get the full picture of the conversation. In fact, for the most part all he heard was Garrett's attempt at a funny quip. At least that was what he could detect. He could also tell that Dania was just not having it right now. He was quiet for a moment before he chimed in, "He's right, Admiral. Those dust particles can do a lot of damage when you're not careful. You look one way and the next thing you know we're all covered in dust wondering oh no we weren't prepared for this at all. If only we had manned our stations ahead of time." he didn't honestly care if he was stressing her out. He was actually a bit more afraid of being reprimanded by Garrett somehow than he was of his sister getting angry. Kathi finished up her water break when Cadmus had asked about the R-8252 unit. She would have preferred taking a little bit longer of a break, but she didn't mind too much going back into work. She lead him to the workshop and brought him over to the unit and said, "It's auto-magnetism is not functioning fully, it's too glitchy. It would work if we put it into space, but it might just let go of the ship and drift off. I tried replacing the part but I think it's a malfunction in the programming rather than in the physical." Kathi casually stood up straight and placed her wrists against her head and cracked them, just to loosen herself up, before she continued, "I think what it would need is a complete re-coding. But I cannot find the backup disk. I asked Peeves and Dan but they said it might just be time to let this model go. We wanted to know what you thought first."
sometimes people just suffer because of the actions of others ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Jael's leisure time ended faster than he would like, he cleaned up his space and changed into appropriate uniform before grabbing a chart of his scheduled plans today. He had to keep himself on that or else he would keep distracting himself horrifically. And he was already years behind schedule for the translator guy. He didn't know how to speak a word of Zegnart despite having encountered them more than enough in this sector of space and having plenty of guides on how to do so. It's because of the inflection, his mouth was not used to emphasizing the klk sound so many times with different tones emphasizing different forms of respect. Too high you're talking as if to a servant, too low and you're speaking to them as if they are a king. And he wasn't planning on starting a war because he said one word wrong. Holding the booklet, he began walking towards his designated work area. His head was focused more on his reading when he walked. He wouldn't have minded being distracted on his way, since he was still in the break mindset, but he didn't exactly have any intent to run into someone while on his path. "Computer. Confirming T-3200's status, it is now fully operational." Kathi remarked to the air happily as she finished tightening the screws on a little robot. The computer bleeped in confirmation and Kathi placed the robot back into some protective casing for in space operations. She then stretched a little as she stood up, she walked over to a computer and pressed it, "Mechanic log, 26-10-26. The robots that malfunctioned during the previous emergency repairs have been fixed and are now fully operational. They performed correctly in our contained environment tester, however they have not been tested in space yet. The only robot still unconfirmed over the status is R-8252, which may have to be taken out of commission if repairs do not meet a minimum of 80% capacity." she stopped speaking afterwards and let go of the button. Kathi moved over in front of the little robot. R-8252. Kathi was a bit disappointed that they may not be able to continue operation with the robot, and she was tempted to make it a pet project in her free time to see if she could rewire it for secondary operations before getting rid of it altogether, but she would have needed permission from the head mechanic. Kathi began working for the slightest bit of time on the wiring before she realized she was overheating from the tools, so she got herself up with a bottle of water and waited outside in a cooling area. She casually talked with some other ensigns who passed by. Very rarely did she get to see anyone higher than ensign on this ship unless something horrible was going on. The one exception to this was the Captain, who was also the head mechanic mostly by default. She had to put most things through them, otherwise it was just her and all the other, well, 'red shirts' as she remembered someone referring to them as at one point. Kathi continued drinking her water and closed her eyes to enjoy the coldness of the air.
Is the color blue to you the color blue to me? How come packs of hot dog come in packs of 10, but the buns come in packs of 8? What is the oddest food you have ever consumed? If you live alone in a house or apartment, do you close the door of the bathroom when you use it? Have you ever wondered what cats dream? Have you ever danced with the devil in the pale moonlight? Have you ever almost asphyxiated yourself on a piece of candy? Are all the celebrities dying in 2016 or are they escaping to another dimension to avoid 2017? Is a group of hermits an oxymoron? I really love what you've done with the colors and the light editing, I like it when light overwhelms personally so it may seem super distracting to some but it gets an A+ from me. I personally prefer version 1 over version 2, because the shadow effect (I think that's what you used) just kind of looks like it's been overfeathered towards the left. If it was intended to be shadow I would have moved it slightly more towards the left. If the intent was feathering, I would have made it like, half a point smaller maybe? Like if it was 2px, make it 1.5px Otherwise, I really love this and you a great job. Colors. Mmm.
Kaida looked thrown off when he mentioned Seiza's name. Her eyes visibly widened as she looked at Beuce and her face softened as she asked, "How... did you know that?" "I met him in the library at Central Haven. I heard you talking and he told me about what happened. I didn't put the two together until just now, though." Kaida nodded just slightly before rubbing the back of her neck and going, "Yeah... it was him. I... I know he tries to tell me it's okay. Because mistakes happen and I was young, but a day doesn't go by where I wonder, what if I was more disciplined and thought things through before doing them?" Kaida summoned out Whittling Promises again and just twirled it in her hand to keep her hands doing something, "Why do I deserve something like the keyblade when I can put people in pain like that? Seiza can't travel to see the worlds like he always dreamed... and I ruined it." Beuce muttered something to himself, as though thinking something over before returning his gaze to Kaida. His expression was a surprising one. It wasn't pity or anything of the kind. It was confidence. "Don't worry. I've got a plan for that. I was going to do it myself, but instead...Why don't you come along?" Kaida blinked in confusion and tilted her head with an eyebrow raised, "What now?" Reaching into his pocket far deeper than one would think physically possible, he pulled out a sizeable tome with the symbol for the elements on it. "Know what this is?" Kaida reached out and took the tome from him to look it over, trying to figure it out for a moment before her face turned to slight annoyance, "Out of all the things you could steal from Central Haven, you took a heavily decorated book? I mean, I know you seem to be into art and stuff but I think there were a few more important things there..." "Look this was before the attack even happened." He sighed. "Anyway miss oh why would you take this piece of shit. I think you'll find this to be a very useful thing." He said waving he hands in a mocking fashion, trying to imitate her voice. He flipped through the pages on various sections regarding elemental magic. There was an explanation of the tiers of magic, elemental oppositions, and general magic theory. Finally, he reached what he brought the book out for. "The elemental guardians. Supposedly, the absolute highest form of magic can't be attained through normal means like others. Instead, they're guarded by a protector. One for each element, hidden throughout the worlds. Find them, challenge them, and defeat them to win your prize. The strongest magic to exist of that element. Light magic is generally some form of healing, so if there were ever to be anything capable of helping him, it'd be what the guardian of light is protecting."
Kaida quietly pondered his responses, mostly to her question about everyone else's tests, since the first question seemed to pass without really having to go back there. She shifted a bit, trying to find a better position to stand since her feet felt sore, and just finding another place to put pressure overall felt the most ideal. Kaida got herself in a comfortable spot and thought for a moment on the last one before sighing, "I... was really close to not making it out of mine..." Kaida turned towards him and held out her hands out defensively and said, "I won't monologue too long about it but, the entire time I was just.... being followed by this dark vision of myself. And... she kept telling me to give up. And she kept making me feel guilty for some... well, horrible things I'd done. And a part of me almost didn't let go and let myself lose..." Kaida crossed her arms a bit and looked over in the direction of Karina and said, "I... feel slightly bad for getting on her case, when there was a very likely chance I could have not let go of my past either." she shrugged it out a little and said, "If I waited a minute longer, I might be crying on the ground too." Kaida took a deep breath before shifting her hair and asking, "How... would you react if you were the one responsible... for ruining your friend's life. Where, they couldn't follow their dreams anymore, but you still could follow yours, almost at the expense of your friend..."
Kaida listened to him explain the arm and what was on it, pretty fascinated overall with what she was learning. She didn't really bring up questions so she couldn't understand all of it, but she got the general idea of it pretty well. And he seemed okay with talking about it, albeit sounding a tad awkward. But it didn't seem forced at all. If he hadn't mentioned how the glass wasn't fragile before he did the hard wack, she probably would have panicked slightly. She listened to the ring and enjoyed it's slightly melodic hum. When he was done, she scratched the back of her head and said, "Does that feel like a big weight to you at all? Ya know, having the souls of your entire race with you? When I think of it like that, I dunno... I guess that would give me a bit of anxiety... also..." Kaida's hand dropped down to her side and she tilted her head and asked, "You... were gone for months? I... I thought everything happened like, in a day. A very sped up and confusing day. With a lot of stuff going on. But, for me it felt like it all happened in a day." she actually looked very concerned and looked towards the direction where everyone's doors would have been and Kaida asked, "If it was months, does that mean it might take some of them longer to get back?" she sounded slightly worried, though she wasn't fully sure how time worked anymore in this place, so it could be a minute for them and months for the others all she knew. Then Kaida kind of asked quietly, "Is... anyone else gonna end up failing it like Karina?"
...greetings!
Kaida watched him spin it around when he did. That was when she noticed his hand based on the way he twirled it. Up until that point she was just distracted by other things but the way the light reflected off of his hand when he twirled it and Kaida mentally was like Wait. Hold up. His hand's back. and it's glass! What happened?! but since Beuce asked her about her keyblade, she decided it was probably best that she just answer his question first before specifically asking about the hand. Kaida summoned out her keyblade and held it up so he could see the design and she said, "Pretty neat, huh? I didn't get much practice with it in a fight but the handles make it really easy for me to just..." she stopped explaining in words and showed herself mock dueling with the air, her hand grabbing onto the edges of the handle rather than the central bar. She switched her hands a couple times showing the ease of which she could transition from one hand to another that way. Then she stopped and said, "Well, you could hold it this way. Ya know, the expected way." she held it by the handle and held it in an horizontal direction before letting it go and holding it out towards Beuce and saying, "It's just easier for me the way I was doing it, but here, have a closer look." If and when he took the keyblade, Kaida was just kind of quiet for a moment before saying, "So, you got a new hand, huh? It looks fragile. And well decorated."
Kaida wasn't exactly expecting Beuce to tap on her shoulder and indicate her heading somewhere else with him, but considering Karina was starting to get a bit on her nerves with the way she was acting, it was probably for the best for her to get a break. After all, the last thing Karina would have needed would have been Kaida just snapping on her more. So she took Beuce's excuse and she followed him. She passively looked at him until he got into a monologue about showing his keyblade. Then Kaida's eyes suddenly widened as the description seemed to follow a path she did not wish to. Kaida shook her head until he said about showing his if she showed hers and she was like, "No no no this is not consen- oh." Kaida then realized what he was talking about and took a deep breath, "O-Oh. You meant. Keyblade... homewor- why does your look like that?" Kaida took it from him for a moment and shifted it around to examine it before pausing a moment and staring at it and asked, "How the heck do you use this thing? Do you spin it around like a helicopter taking flight or something?" Kaida tried spinning it around but the keyblade disappeared out of her hand when she did that and it reappeared in Beuce's hand, like the keyblade was rejecting her even giving it a test run. She kind of wondered why.
It was precisely 12:00 on their clock, and it was Jael's leisure time. He did not exactly get too many breaks anymore, and for him that was truly unfortunate for his mental state. Jael was not exactly the kind of person who worked well under long workday schedules, but the militant nature of his life forced him into accepting it as the norm. It meant by the end of his shifts, he might as well have been on leisure time, his productivity decreased and his motivation clearly fell flat. Jael was sitting on a lounge chair within his room, his eyes were closed. There were plenty of rooms on board which allowed him to get his own room, which made him feel slightly independent. Not that he was exactly expecting to bring hot ladies back to the room or anything, but it let him keep his junk around without someone pestering him about it. The room was filled with a bunch of old Earth regalia, stuff Jael did not even know the name of. There was a small station holding a music player that was playing an old song that was left from some of the older times, about a millennium ago. It was some sort of random popular song of the times, it did not really matter to Jael. All that mattered was the noise and the feelings it gave him as he just relaxed to it. A familiar sounding melody with a vocal line filled with "oh-oh, oh-oh" all over the place. He made sure to keep it relatively quiet. After a bit of time, Jael lifted up a remote and changed the song, to another song. He had become bored fairly quickly. The song was in Spanish, he recognized it, and hummed along a little. In terms of the native human languages, he figured he had the main ones down. English, Spanish, French, German, Mandarin, Japanese. It was all he really needed to know, he was probably never going to use them either. But he couldn't just let the practice die. He had a moral and civic duty to keep those language in humanity's last legacy. Jael got up and grabbed himself a little bit of food he had snuck out of the previously rationed out meal, and he ate it up quickly as a snack. He took a deep breath and munched on it a little more listening to the music, he started translating the current song into many other languages in his head, before he had to stop himself. He didn't want to overwork himself if he needed to translate later. Jael moved back to the armchair again and sat back, enjoying the rest of his time before he was obligated to go back.
Hello everyone, I decided today to give our library of games a big inventory sweep. It, was a little disheartening in a lot of cases to find stray games inside boxes that they didn't belong in, or boxes with no games at all. But overall I think this was a fun experience. Cstar why are there no PC games? Well, quite simply the answer is, I either don't own that many, or the games my family does play are online games. This includes free-to-play games downloaded onto our PCs. Yeah, we do have some. But a lot of them get lost around the house because of how many computers we own. Rather than stress out about it, I've chosen just to leave it as open and unlimited. Why is it a WIP? We have other systems we didn't get to today, and some games we KNOW we have that are just lost in the void right now. But these were from the place I knew we absolutely had the games. I also will be doing handheld games at another time. Why are some of the games italicized? We have a lot of game boxes without games. This means we had to have owned it at one point, and people remember that we owned it. But we currently do not have it. We do have other games we owned for a time, but these ones we still have the physical boxes for.
