I highly disbelieve it to be a medical issue. lol wtf? It's a game. Even if it IS online, there's no way you can be sick in the mind because of it. It's not like nicotine where you physically and mentally need it. And yes. I have been addicted to a game. Many games. Mostly megaman, Pokemon, Kingdom Hearts, Final Fantasy, and all those good games.

I personally believe they use it because it's the only way of describing something 'not normal' among your group of friends or among your fellow peers. An easy example is the one homosexual in a private school. He's "gay" in that he likes men, and that he acts weird, therefore no one gives him respect or wants to be his friend.
