Halloween isn't normally unlucky for me at all. In fact last year I ended up going out with a really cool girl on Halloween night. This year I'm kinda doing the same thing. So it isn't ever really unlucky for me. It almost brings me closer to people. =) I'd be willing to say, in fact, this is pointless superstition.
Really, you should probably tell her (both as a friend and as someone who cares) that she should stop messing around. I mean thinking shinigami are cool tot he point of obsession is one thing, but believing there actually is such a thing? Sounds like an attempt to get some attention, if you ask me. Try and seriously talk to her about it (in person) and get some answers. As Repliku said, it might just be a method for her to cope with problems. The other unlikely possibility is that she's doing this because she feels the need to know you're truly there for her (no matter what the circumstances). Part of the reason you should do this in person, is that if you do it over the phone you have no way of seeing her. If you're there, she will have a much harder time expressing the feelings and acting this way, since it's a physical event, not over a phone. Call it psychology if you will. lol

This sounds much like the ordeal I'm in. Almost exactly, in fact. What you should probably do is try and hang out with her more outside of school. It's SO MUCH easier to socialize when you're hanging out at one of your houses, watching a movie, etc.. For example, I invited this one girl I like over (who previously showed no signs of liking me) and afterward we have been close ever since, and we both know we like eachother... infact it's insanely obvious. So, try and communicate with her outside of school. If you like her and your feelings are getting in the way of actually asking her out, try and ignore them and ask anyway. Just see if she wants to hang out and watch a movie or something, or go to a movie. Also, it's probably smart to reassure her it doesn't mean anything except a nice time to hang out. Making subtle (or obvious) hints isn't much of a bad idea, either. All the best luck, mate. ;]
