Mikeru blinked, "Me? What kind of..." He paused as he saw the shape of a digimon outside a window, "Never mind, I think I know who." He pat the gekomon on the head, "Thanks. Sorry you had to go through that." Mikeru stepped outside, facing the direction that MetalSeadramon's form was, "I'll deal with you in a minute. There's something important that requires my attention inside. Once I'm done, I'll go with you." he called.
Guilmon groaned at the constant examining, "How long is this gonna take?" Mikeru looked at him, "Oh, hush. It'll last as long as it lasts."
"My name is Mikeru, and yes, Guilmon needs a checkup." said Mikeru. Guilmon scowled at Mikeru in response.
We need those pesky cat rangers for this one!
Quick! Somebody move time forward about 12 years, and call on as many rangers you can to combat this menace! ...way to go.

Not if he's so emotionally bound to the girl; that kind of thing is almost impossible to recover from.
In any case, the someone would not be able to function without said girl, whether he left first or she.
Guilmon's ears perked up. He started looking around. Mikeru asked, "What's up?" Guilmon shook his head, "Not sure...something seems close by...something big."
Then that someone sacrifices himself so that girl can find happiness. See? Simple.
Haven't quite worked out all the bugs on the 'boys' part, so: Girl: Valerie, Victoria, Jessica
And what if said person would rather risk everything to make sure both survive instead of just one, a 'high risk, high reward' type thing? Would...
Even if this 'someone' would be much happier if the girl would quit punishing herself and make an effort to move on, like she's helping this someone?
And yet, somehow, this messed up girl has proven herself as an invaluable friend.
