Basically Lea was needed in order to help stop Xehanort, mainly because Terra has way too much darkness to be one of the 7 Lights to fight the 13 Darknesses. The only logical person would be Lea, since Xion and Roxas are inside of Sora. And don't even start with the whole: "Why not give Cloud a Keyblade HURR DURR Cloud is so manly AMG ZOMG WTF Square" because that's ridiculous.
I'd go to sleep.
