It takes place from ending of KH1 all the way to Prolougue of KH2. Probably, towards the end of the game, the guys in Castle Oblivion all die, but in beginning and middle they live because in the storyline they aren't dead yet.

How about Twilight Night(C)? It could be obtained after binding with Roxas and have the power of Twilight, abilities would be ability to teleport short distances.
I think it would focus on agility, as healing is part of magic and Wisdom form. Sora could drive with alternate party members like ROFL_chief said.
