They keep changing their gender, I've heard them refered to as both at many points. So I just decided to take a leap of faith.

Agreed, people who spend all their time drawing chibi crap really need to try and draw something realistic, and realize how hard it is.

The red splatters on the left don't "go". I'd suggest finding a lighter red then that, actually try matching the color to the color of red on his shirt. As for the rounded border, I usually just go to the pentool, go to the cube shape with the rounded edges...tool...thingy, make the shape on the canvas, hide the shape, new layer>image>apply image, unhide the layer, make a clipping mask, then hide all layers except the shape layer and the applied image layer.

Anyway the Obha and Obata, creators of THAT one are making a new manga called Bakuman about 2 teenagers that are writing a manga. :'D I kid you not. It's actually quite delicious.
