The Castle Survivor pin was for an event that occurred in 2010 in the forum, in which a series of riddles were posed. It's unrelated to COM.
Some are event awards, while some aren't. The colour differs based on that.

If you alter your definition of 'finish the game' to mean 'complete all gameplay segments', and just watch the cutscene online, you'll save yourself $15. Or try to borrow the disc from a friend, or just rent it. It seems a waste to buy another one, simply for the final scene.

We got something bordering on it in HGSS, what with the Pokéathlon. There's also Poképark, and Mystery Dungeon. So it seems Nintendo are edging closer and closer to this real time battle system, and I wouldn't be surprised to see something like it in the next few years or so. The 3D models honestly aren't a big problem. Battle Revolution has most of the current-gen Pokémon, so I'm sure those could be recycled, as, in most cases, could their attacks. It's mostly just the gameplay engine that's missing.
So what is the touch pad? The image didn't really make it clearer. Does it have an accelerometer? I heard something about it. (Or is it just the six-axis?)
