I don't know about last year, but this year I've been really loving Space Dandy. It's the only anime I can think of that can be described as funky fresh, baby. Oh, and Shuffle! is an okay older anime. It's based on a hentai visual novel, but don't worry because it's not actually hentai.
It sounds too Final Fantasy-ish. It would be fantastic if Bravely Default were a Final Fantasy game, but as it is now it seems like they're just pandering to FF fans by making it sound exactly the same.
