Pharaoh As the girls proceeded left, once again the walls shook and one shut behind them, locking them into the end of the hallway in which mummies appeared once again ready to attack them Once again it will take 2 posts each to complete, so a total of 4 posts. That or three collab posts. Your choice.
The last of the food was handed out, and the patients began to eat. Nurse Janet dished herself last. She didn't touch her food at first, quietly staring at the lasagna on her plate. There was a sad look on her face as she pushed it around a little bit. "I am sorry Nick, that it had to come to this on your birthday..." She breathed quietly as she looked around the room at everyone laughing and enjoying their food. The other nurse was too busy watching for trouble to notice strange way that Janet was acting. Finally after a good five minutes, Janet took the first bite of her own meal. She did not move to clean up after those who had finished their dinners, there was no point in it, not now.... A small child, far too small for her age wandered up to Janet. "Um... excuse me.... Nurse Janet. I feel funny." She complained starting to look paler than normal. "It's okay sweetie, why don't you come sit with me for a moment, see if it passes." Janet suggested taking the girl to a big arm chair and sitting with her in her lap. The child's eyes grew heavy as she began to yawn. A few others now were also feeling tired it seemed. So the drug was finally taking effect. On their weak bodies, it wouldn't take long for the life to leave them completely, just like it was leaving the child in her lap. The girl whimpered and Janet just stroked her hair. "It will all be over soon. All the pain and suffering will come to an end soon. I promise." She told the girl. The child nodded in response and cuddled closer to Janet. It wasn't long before she was asleep, and only a minute later she drew her last breath. Janet watched as the rest struggled to stay awake, even her fellow nurse was too out of it to do anything. Janet had served her before the rest had gotten their so she could do her job, and patrol instead of eating. Truth be told the only reason she allowed the girl to eat first was so she the drug would kick in before she could stop it from effecting the others. There was several cries of confusion and worry, but in the end no one was strong enough to get any help before the drug dragged them into the realm of sleep, where they slipped peacefully from this life. Slowly Janet's eyes too began to droop. So she finally put an end to it. Not only to her own misery of watching people suffer for a living. Only ever able to mask the pain. She finally put those she had been so called helping out of their misery. Never once did she believe she was helping these people. She knew all too well that she was prolonging their suffering. Providing drugs and supplements that hid the problem a little longer so their family didn't worry as much. It was pointless anyways. The longer it held out the more it effected them mentally. But now, they were at peace.... As was she....
Karina paused with a slight sigh as Steel prodded more into her life and her mind. She supposed after all he put up with that she should at least explain where she was coming from, even if she didn't particularly want to. He was right, she had been fine just plowing through so far, and it had been working... well that was until she lost it all. "When we lost our keyblades, when our hearts reset and everything we worked for was taken away... I used it as my way to escape my keyblade was my excuse and my purpose. I had that and I was worth something and could do something. I could take on a challenge and complete it... but I couldn't. Time after time we failed to save people and instead got beaten down and insulted. But at least I had my keyblade, with that I could just go somewhere else and keep running while hiding among other people with keyblades. Now it is gone... That was my hope and purpose. Without it I would have never gotten off my home world, I couldn't start running in the first place. I thought if I became strong enough I could fight back against my father. It is all gone now and I am left with nothing, so why bother running?" Karina responded looking into the distance wondering why she had even walked this far in the darkness. Why she had yet to just sit and wait for death. Steels talking did not end there though, it was turned back to him and what he thought. While Karina would normally be annoyed and not want to listen, she found herself not minding hearing him out. He did just listen to everything she had to say after all. She didn't respond, and empathy was not an emotion she was familiar with but she kept her mouth shut and just nodded on occasion. That was something at least. It was more than most would get when she wasn't in a state of utter hopelessness. The next response didn't come until he spoke about a waist of potential, and while he claimed to hate it, Karina didn't care. "So what if I am a waist of potential. I am already a waste of space, a waste of breath, a waste of money, a waste of time.... It is just another thing to add to that list. I don't know if there is anything else out there to find. It very well might be that I am close to the end of my line, and frankly I don't care. However I never have been one for sitting still, so lets keep going, if for no other reason that I will go more insane if I just sit here quietly than if I move towards what could very well be our death." Karina stated in a rather monotone voice. She didn't really reply to his offer to go on a journey to figure things out, because she still didn't know where she sat or could really say that she cared. She wouldn't promise anything because in her own mind she saw herself possibly dying in the coming days or months and would rather keep her distance. Without her keyblade she couldn't see much good awaiting her, however expressing that out loud would lead to another conversation she was not in the mood to have. As they moved forward the figures by the light became more clear. While she did not recognize one of the figures, the others were friendly faces. Perhaps this was not a trap after all, though she still couldn't say what it was for sure. The least she could do was approach and see what was going on. Besides the others had likely seen her by now anyways so it was too late to run from them. Karina kept her head down and eyes averted as she approached the group wordlessly, knowing how it would look with a bloodied and bruised Steel on her tail.
Jack the Ripper Seeing two males who could possibly have money, a tall blonde in very little clothing walked over to Zephyr. "Hello boys." She dragged a finger across Zephyr's face and brought it up to face him. "Are you looking for some fun tonight? Just the three of us, or I can get one of the other ladies, I know one who is particularly good with her mouth if you would like. I never know what the younger ones like these days." Her attention had now turned to Rodrick, gently taking his hand and making him rub her side before bringing it up towards her breast letting go with it resting there. "They are nice aren't they? First timer deal, two hours for the price of one if you are interested." She flirted trying to get clients for a night where clients were thin. People had been scared lately, and another prostitute crying not far away didn't help. There were two other girls with her, trying to comfort the first girl who looked ready to throw up. The woman with Zephyr and Rodrick tried to ignore what was going on behind her, money was more important that night to her. Bonnie and Clyde "Ahhhh who knew so much travel was so tiring. I know, a fish will cheer me up. Does anyone have a fish?" A purple cat pranced up from behind the group and started talking to them like they were old friends. "What is this place anyways. It is soooo boring. Is this really where they send their students? Poor Maka I didn't know she had it so rough, maybe that is why she forgot to pay attention to me." The cat continued to talk, not paying mind to the fact that the students had not met her yet, she just often watched through the windows of the school.
Pluto sat down panting and wagging his tail rapidly as Mickey rubbed his head. He almost pushed his head up into his hand just asking for more scratches. However when the door opened Pluto stood up and went on guard, waiting for something to come out from the depths of the door. His ears were up he had one foot up and nose pointed forward staring ahead. A low growl rumbled from his throat as he stared at the door. After a long moment Pluto decided he would take the lead for his master, make sure that Mickey was not in danger going through the door that he had chosen. Running through the open door, nearly knocking Mickey off his feet. Once through the door however he went from cautious to excited. "Food? Food? Food! Fooooooooooood!" Was the only thing going through Pluto's mind as he started to circle around the area, stopping at every piece of candy he found and licking it. He never stayed long enough to finish any piece of candy before moving to the next one. There was sooo much candy. Everything was made out of candy. It was amazing. He turned back and barked a few times at Mickey before getting distracted with the candy land in front of him once again.
Alright. I think I will pm you a better description for Soul Eater, and I have a feeling Ashes is on its way out the door anyways so I won't bother
What did she hope for by joining... It was a hard question to answer because it was hard to admit. Why did she come here? Karina knew the answer for herself but did she really want to tell this boy who had pushed her to breaking point and further? Did it matter anymore? If he knew or not what difference did it make? It wasn't like he knew what her home planet was, he couldn't return her there, and she had a feeling he wasn't like a spy for her father. If he was things would be a lot worse than they already were. "An escape... It was an escape from the death penalty that was likely to happen at home at any point. My father had not ordered it yet, but one more mistake.... I was desperate to get away." Karina admitted. "But before you judge me, I am not a criminal." Karina snapped at him before he could speak. "I just wasn't what my father wanted me to be. There is certain rules and regulations of what a girl must be and must do. I couldn't do it. I am a fighter not a house wife, and I certainly wasn't going to marry that ******* that thought murdering small animals was fun." Her voice was bitter as she spoke. Her knuckles were turning white as she clenched her fists at the thought of the memory. "I have been running all this time okay? Nothing more." Karina said as she looked up and saw the Beacon coming up over the hill. There was figures near it and while Karina couldn't quite make out who, they looked like they could be friendly enough.
The silence was not comforting. While talking proved to end up in violence, the silence sent cold shivers down Karina's back. She wondered what Steel was thinking right now as they walked through the darkness towards the pillar of light. Was he silently harbouring anger to her, like she had done many times before? Was he thinking about home, perhaps returning there if they ever got out of this? Perhaps he was making plans on how else he could help the worlds, with or without Hikaru, Kel and the others that they had previously been traveling with. Why did she even care? She cared because she worried about what other bridge she had just burned. She worried about the silence and solitude that she would be left in when he left at the pillar of light... He was right, she was selfish, only worrying about herself. Karina was pulled out of her thoughts by Steel's voice. She was surprised he even spoke to her at all after all of that. "What do you mean?" She asked rather quietly, not having any context of his thought patterns. Was he referring to what she wanted for her life in general? What she wanted when she came to SoS? Perhaps what she thought she could accomplish by beating his face in. She didn't know and didn't feel like talking without an aim of what to talk about.
I won't say I'm in love, please and thank you
Steel was talking but Karina wasn't really hearing right now. She was lost in emptiness and she felt like it was suffocating her. If she didn't get out soon then it would all be over. Yet as much as she wanted to she couldn't get out. No matter what she did, how many times she punched Steel, or yelled, how close or far she let herself get to people, she was still empty. After a long moment and Steel asking if she was okay, she finally spoke. "What, you aren't going to hurt me and punish me for my actions. You don't plan to lock me up till I learned my lesson?" Punishments she used to get from her father back home. She knew that here they weren't in the same world, it didn't work the same, but sometimes she slipped back into old thought and habit. Here she didn't belong to anyone so no one really punished her. She was more than just a thing, and yet she struggled to see it that way, still feeling inadequate. Slowly Karina got off of Steel and stood on shaky legs. For some reason it felt hard to stand right now even though she wasn't the one who got injured. She glanced in the direction of the light, then back to Steel. "We wouldn't have enough time to work out my issues... better to just go." Her voice was flat, emotionless even. She felt as though she had no life left in her, but she still managed to move, however slowly. A circus trick for a lifeless body really.
Turning right the duo followed the hall around many twists and turns, but eventually it brought them to a T intersection. No more mummies jumping out at them at this time. The choice was left or right for them to make without any problems at this point @Maka Albarn @Glen
The laugh of the man Karina say on top of echoed through the darkness. Worming it's way into her mind, fueling the fire bit by bit. In desperation to shut him up she put the rest of her energy into one final punch. One last one that she hoped would just shut him up. Her knuckles ached after and had already started to bruise as she sat up, still on top of Steel though. Her chest heaved up and down as her breathing was laboured and tired. Karina was ready to just fall over in exhaustion, but she wouldn't let herself. To collapse now would be showing signs of weakness, she couldn't do that. And there was that damned thought again, weakness. Why did she care? What did it matter if she was weak or not. There was no reason to care anyways. She was weak and she was useless and she was powerless. That had always been proven to her. Every step of the way, every time she thought she was getting one step forward she was just thrown back. There was nothing anymore. Even when she decided there was no use pretending not to be weak, Karina wouldn't falter, to some extent. She had grown silent and still, almost like she was waiting. Waiting for what ever punishment was to come for attacking someone again. Waiting for that annoying laughter to stop and for the insane man to get angry at her and retaliate. There had to be something to come for her actions. She was frozen in anticipation for whatever was to come for her. Whatever it was, it wouldn't be good.
The words fell on a hallow empty mind. A girl who stared with anger in her eyes, but was quickly losing grip on such feelings. Insults flew at her and at first Karina just stood there, taking the on slaughter of words being thrown at her. There was a slight shaking in her body all the way. It had moved from her clenched fists up her arm, and then back down her back. Her knees trembled and Karina didn't notice as a warm fluid leaked from her eyes. He didn't get it.... He didn't get it.... He didn't get it. Karina kept repeating this to herself in the back of her minds as the words cut deeper than a sword ever could. "I have no intent! I have nothing! No idea of anything anymore!" Karina screamed, her voice sounding almost hoarse as she did so. To her the scream didn't sound that loud, but in reality, she was screaming as loud as she possibly could. Karina was left gasping for air after and showing signs of a panic attack. While everything in her wanted to crumble to the ground, she stayed standing as Steel kept talking. His eyes almost scared her, what she saw in them... she didn't know but it wasn't like the way the others looked at her and she didn't know what to do about it. More words, more insults and more comments about what she already knew. How worthless, pathetic and unimportant, unoriginal she was. She had spent a good amount of her younger years trying to find somewhere she was good enough. Something she was good enough at to make her father proud. When she finally did she was punished for it, told she didn't belong there. She was left with no direction and little hope. She tried to make things right and only made it worse. Then she ran like the useless little girl she was. She ran and hid and did nothing. She knew she was pathetic and she knew she was hopeless and self destructive. She didn't say anything about thinking herself special. She didn't want to be special. She wanted to keep people away before she could explode.... but in reality she didn't even know if she wanted that. "SHUT UP!" She finally snapped at him. When she snapped yet again she didn't just sit there and shake. No she couldn't just stand there this time. Karina lunged forward. She had the intent of taking Steel down no matter what. She didn't care if she hurt him, or threw them both into darkness. It didn't matter anymore. Nothing mattered anymore. She tried to tackle him to the ground and start punching him again and again. She wasn't as strong as she previously was, but that didn't mean she had to sit there and listen and not fight back. There were screams, of anger, rage and a broke girl ripping from her throat. A tornado of emotions swirled around her as tears dripped from her eyes. She punched again and again not knowing if she aimed to hurt, kill or just to get some rage out. Her mind felt blank. Nothing seemed to make sense anymore.
Her knuckles were turning white at her side as Steel spoke. His attitude was getting annoying, and here she thought he might have been a somewhat serious person. Just another moron to add on to the pile of morons in the group it seemed. Well so far he wasn't the worst person she could be stuck with, but he still wasn't the best from what she could tell. She would rather be with Stratos, or even Kel, but then again they probably wouldn't want to be around her. Karina only half listened as his voice slowly got softer and he explained what he meant. It all came back to one thing, goals, and goals didn't exist without hope. It was all back to having hope, something she had lost long ago. For a long time her only goal was to run away as well. There was no friends or lost loved ones to do anything for. It was because of a so called loved one that she was in this mess. It was a so called loved one that made her run and hide. "Don't you get it?!" Karina snapped, stopping abruptly and turning to Steel. "There is nothing left? No goals. Nothing for me! It is the way this damned world works. Pretends to give you something to fight for and rips it all away from you. At least selfish goals still mean you are doing something for someone, even if it is yourself. What happens when you don't even have that? Don't talk like you understand because you don't and you never will!" Karina yelled. Her hand was trembling with the force she was clenching her fist. While she didn't realize it, her eyes were watering and her face was red. She was not however in a position that looked like she was ready to attack, not yet at least. She was just doing all she could to not fall apart at this point.
Karina rolled her eyes but played along with Steels little game... Well in some sense she played along at least. She responded, and that was something, wasn't it? "You are all naive idiots who think that eventually by being nice to one another you can eventually give yourselves a happy ending. New flash, the reality is, there is no happy endings. The quicker you all realize that the better." Karina responded. While her voice was harsh in tone, she was not yelling or throwing a fit. It was more like she was stating a fact, a fact that she had come to accept in her own life. Karina kept her self one stride ahead of Steel, just enough that he didn't see the pain and sadness written across her face. She had snapped before, but what she was close to here, wasn't like the other times. She felt like if she let herself completely snap now, there was no coming back from it. And yet she wasn't really hearing out Steel, she wasn't doing anything to prevent it, besides relying on her own strength to keep her cold and brutal, because it was better than the alternative. It was better than feeling nothing at all.
Looking at the two doors in front of them, Pluto cocked his head and perked his ears up. While his ears were up, they still sort of flopped in front of his face. His head tilted to the other side as Pluto started to stand up from where he was seated, slightly in front of the group. His pink wet tongue hung out of his mouth as he paced back and forth between the door. Finally Pluto barked at the one with a dragon on it. He then began to circle in front of the door. Pluto watched the door for a moment stopping to pounce on it, keeping his back legs rooted to the ground as his front paws connected with the door a couple times. He then turned around and looked at Mickey. After a moment of just watching for movement, Pluto went bounding up to his owner and jumping up on him, licking his face a couple times. Soon enough however he stopped harassing Mickey and looked back at the door with the dragon on it, then back at Mickey. He sat, his tail wagging, waiting for his owner to open the door so they could go through like an obedient dog would.
Karina tried t ignore the creepy smile. She could sense that he didn't intend for it to be that creepy, but the sharp teeth made her slightly uncomfortable. What Karina didn't ignore however was the comment on him deciding for himself. Karina let out a low dark chuckle. She found some sort of twisted amusement in that statement. It was a nice sentiment, but when it came to her no one knew what was best, because there was no best scenario when it came to her. "You are better off avoiding me like you have been, that way neither of us get hurt. I am a ticking time bomb of self destruction. If you don't get sick of me and leave, one day I will blow up and take everyone in my path with me. So believe me when I say it is better to keep your distance." Karina snapped at him. The was a small amount of sadness in her eye that came with the self awareness of what she was and how she acted.
