Yeah, I thought you out of all people might understand it. A lot's happened. Heck, a lot's happening right now. My strategy is to just shut up and...
Well, I've had first-hand experiences with bad types ending up at rock-bottom. Fortunately.
You won't hear that from me. Then again, getting caught is not always fun either. Being handcuffed by pork-faced cops is kind of a dent in your...
I don't have legal better offers.
So you're the one always foiling my world domination schemes? I guess that's what you get for always relying on your henchmen...
* Rule Of Rose For its metaphors and intricateness. * The World Ends With You For its welll...art. * Xenogears / Xenosaga For its succesful mixture of sci-fi, psychology and philosophy. * Shin Megami Tensei: Nocturne For its spiritual side, the fact that it goes against virtually every cliché in the book and the character designs. * Silent Hill For its use of metaphors and use of the blood-and-rust theme. * Okami If you really need a reason for this, you need professional help.
Kinda sorta yeah. XD The leg's all right now. I guess it won't think of being naughty and disobeying when I continue to do my exercises. So what...
Well, it's not so much a question of how you would do it. The core of it all is: would you hurt someone in the most terrifying ways you can think of in order to save many, many others? I'll repeat that just to make sure. The core of it all is: would you hurt someone in the most terrifying ways you can think of in order to save many, many others?
Doing pretty good. Had a friend over I hadn't seen in a long time. Today's a cool day now that I think about it. No complaints whatsoever. How are...
Not at all. Do come in. :D
Peace-and-War inspired me for this thread. Credit goes to him. But anyway... You know that doctor character from the first episode? The one with the cure for cancer? Apparently, he's alive! And he takes the leading role for this episode. He still has the cure for cancer but he's quite an A-hole and decides to take his secret to the grave. The only way to the obtain the necessary knowledge is to torture it out of him. By which I mean torture him horribly. Just think of the worst you can think of. Would you do it? Also, this is a purely ethical question. I know the background story isn't waterproof and needn't be reminded of that. I don't want loophole-hunting to affect your answer in any way. In other words, I don't want horseshit such as this in my thread:
I understand what you mean. I probably would have done the same. I got people questioning me about my health all the time now, just because they...
I'm sure the family of those cancer patients feels the same way, hun. And yes, you can replace love. It's childishly naive for anyone to think that they can't. What you can't replace is life. Sure, nobody's 100% irreplacable, but millions of folks sure are one hell of a lot less disposable than your boyfriend.
Not anymore, no. You used to need 100 rep to become premium, but we don't enforce that rule anymore. It doesn't mean anything now.
Yeah, I know it's nothing personal. I'm doing quite well. Only two more weeks (well, a week and a half) and my body fixator gets to come off....
You mean you wonder how many points you give and take? Well, it's not really explained anywhere and I'm not really sure myself. You give: * 1...
This last one looks more experimental than your others. I've made similar "dialogue" poems and I find them pretty hard to pull off. Therefore I'm pleasantly surprised by how you did it. Good job on that! Hope you'll update soon.
Hi! It was quite heated in there for a sec. XD But never mind that of course. How are you doing lately?
I admit that I was a bit quick to judge. It all depends on whether you still have time to think or not. I suppose the humane impulse would be to save the one you love and leave the other one to die. Fair enough. However if you still had time for consideration, even a handful of seconds, you should have concluded that the happiness of several millions weighs more than your own. You really don't have to be a "saint" to realise that. That being said though... Yet you didn't. Pot kettle black. :p Read the others' replies, especially the ones I quoted (and yours) and see for yourself what kind of asinine reasons people give to (further) justify their choice. At least be honest with yourself and don't try to come up with any actual reasons to not save the doctor. You know they won't make sense. You said yourself that saving him would probably be the right thing to do. ;)
Right, because you choosing one option makes it human for everyone to choose the same. Like I said, ******ed half-ass reasons. Also, some people are saints. That's why there are saints in the first place. They sanctified a number of dead guys just a month ago. Why overgeneralize? Why say everyone will react the same way? Why not just say "being without my loved one scares the piss out of me"? You just make your rationale sound all the feebler.
