Okay, now time for some thoughts on yesterday. In the words of the 9th Doctor, it was absolutely FANTASTIC! Alright, first thing's first, the episode itself: Spoiler I absolutely LOVED it! Smith and Coleman did terrific jobs! I'm even more interested in the Great Intelligence. I'm scared of the Wi-fi now :D. And U.N.I.T's appearance always puts a smile on my face. It's great that the episode continues the whole independent story format of Series 7, where, while there may be a few references to past episodes, it's not necessary to know them in order to enjoy the episode. Moffat has really done a good job with Series 7. I have to say, it's episodes like this that prove to me that, in my opinion, Series 7 is vastly superior to Series 5 and 6 combined. I guess it's Moffat's luck number 7. Or maybe it's third time's the charm for him. Okay, I'll stop :). Also, it's interesting to note that this episode felt very much like the episode "Rose" (one of the reviews for the episode that I read made the same connection). Which is no wonder why I loved it so much. "Rose" was not only the episode that brought back the revived DW series back. It was also the episode that introduced my favorite DW companion, Rose Tyler. There were just so many things I loved about her. I was so sad to see her departure from the show. And I was so happy for her when Meta-Doctor stayed with her. In short, no other companion of the Doctor touched my heart the same way she did. Now, I'm not saying the other companions were bad. It's just, they didn't have the same effect on me that Rose had. The companions that were very close to doing so were Wilfred Mott, Craig Owens, and Brian Williams. But there time in the show was, unfortunately, short. However, that may have finally changed when Clara came along. There's just so much about her that I love that I may have finally found the companion that touches my heart just as much Rose. I'm not paying too much attention to all the theories you guys are making about Clara. But while I don't believe this whole daughter of Rose and TenToo nonsense (there's just too much to contradict such a theory), if it does somehow end up being true, then I guess that there is why I love Clara just as much as Rose (without even knowing it :p). Anyway, back to the episode. I find myself liking the 11th Doctor a lot more in this series. I think I like him just as much as 9 now (but not as much as 10, because no one can ever replace him for me :)). The spoonheads were definitely interesting new villains. And the return of the Great Intelligence has me more interested in it than ever before. It's funny how a villain that only appeared twice in Classic Who can be made into a very intriguing villain in NuWho. Overall, FANTASTIC episode! Can't wait for the rest of Series 7! And as for yesterday's announcement that David Tennant and Billie Piper will be returning for the 50th anniversary episode: Spoiler AAAAAHHHHHH!!! F*** YESSSSSSS!!!!! KNFDLWNFLWNFLWNFRLNWFLN!!!!!!!! That there shows just how excited that announcement made me. Tennant has, and will always be, my doctor! And I've stated in the above paragraph, Rose is my favorite companion. So the very thought of her and Clara (my other favorite companion), together, has me extremely excited! Those two alone will make the 50th anniversary episode worth whatever it is theaters charge for a 3D movie these days. I can guarantee that I WILL do whatever it takes to go see the anniversary episode in a theater. So, to sum up, I think yesterday was the best day for Doctor Who in a very long time. I even celebrated by having a chocolate souffle. But it wasn't made by Clara. Or was it... ;)
I was never into the KH manga, but this is great news for those that were disappointed when they stopped localizing them since 2008
Actually the trailer revealed that Billy Zane's voice was actually kept in KH1. Plus Alyson Stoner does reprise her role as Xion.
I'm tired right now, and would like to sleep. But I would like to say that today has certainly been an epic day for Doctor Who. I'll post more on my thoughts tomorrow.
That was just a rumor (which I believe came out before the script was even finished)
Here's the BBC officially announcing that David Tennant and Billie Piper WILL return for the 50th: http://www.bbc.co.uk/blogs/doctorwh...-ANNOUNCES-ALL-STAR-CAST-FOR-50th-ANNIVERSARY
If they can get the classic doctors that are still alive and make it work, I wouldn't mind. But I don't think 1, 2, and 3 should appear (maybe in flashbacks, but that's it), out of respect for the deceased actors who portrayed them, as I don't think replacement actors can do it as good as they did.
Still playing FFIV, and I feel like I'm missing out a lot for not having played any of the Final Fantasies after it yet (except for Dissidia, if that counts)
I don't really mind honestly. I like it both when he has short and long hair.
I would love to see something like that[DOUBLEPOST=1364655889][/DOUBLEPOST]OMG, OMG, OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! http://doctorwhotv.co.uk/david-tennant-billie-piper-return-for-50th-46845.htm YESSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 50th episode confirmed for best episode ever!!!! The thought of seeing Rose with Clara, 10 with 11, 11 with Rose, 10 with Clara! GAHHHH, all my feels!!!
I'm a Time Lord, I can go back a couple hours whenever I want to with my TARDIS.
Then perhaps my issue was that he was hiding it for too long. I really would've loved to see his "Snowmen" attitude a lot sooner. But eh, whatever.
But far less broken then 9 and 10 were (and I guess 8 as well since he fought in the Time War), because he was still guilty over what he had to do in the Time War. As for 11, the thing I really felt broke him were the events of "The Angels Take Manhattan". I mean, watching the way he acted in "The Snowmen", we saw a completely different side to him, and I like it.
Demons Run? Don't you mean "A Good Man Goes to War" (which btw, happens to be one of the few episodes from Series 5 and 6 I actually loved). But anyway, I can't say 11 was able to reach my heart like 9 and 10 did, but as you said with him being broken, I think he'll finally be closer to being the man I remember from the days of Eccleston and Tennant.
"Aye-yi-yi, where do you think you're all going?!" Alpha 5 yelled as the Rangers, Riders, and Gokaigers left, "He was going to explain to you all what S-types were!" "Perhaps it is not the right time to tell them Alpha," Zordon said. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- When Kazari arrived to Discord's cell, Discord was lying there weakened, chained to the ground. The chains were special, as they made sure Discord wouldn't be able to use his powers. Once Kazari's idenity was revealed, Discord opened his eyes, and was surprised. "You? But how?" Discord asked his Crystal Order comrade. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Yen Sid entered the Music room, and saw Sakura inside. "Ah, Sakura, what brings you here at this time?" Yen Sid asked. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Rhyme didn't notice, but there was a pie flying straight to her. Racing as if his life depended on it, Beat got in the way, and the pie hit him instead of Rhyme. "Rhyme, what'cha doin' here?! It's too chaotic!" Beat said with a loud voice. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- While Sora and Roxas were eating their food quietly despite the food fight happening, Vanitas, who sat between them, was enjoying the scene. "Ahh, isn't it beautiful?" Vanitas asked his cousins while eating his food like a pig. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Xion and Vanellope were sitting under their lunch table, avoiding all the flying food. "Is high school always this crazy?" Vanellope asked. "Yeah, pretty much," Xion replied. The two friends then laughed, and continued with their lunch. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Once Iwasawa and Yui were given the forms to update their schedules, the food fight began. "Aww yeah! Now that's what I'm talking about!" Will Smith said, excited by what was happening. Carlton, on the other hand, was appalled by the food fight. Just then, a tray full of food was about to hit Will. "Woah, head's up!" Will Smith yelled as he pulled Carlton and placed him in front of him, using him as a human shield. The tray hit Carlton, causing his clothes to get dirty. Disgusted, Carlton yelled, "Really Will??!!" "Well short stuff, guess I finally found you a good job!" Will Smith said, laughing. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- While the food fight continued, Al Mualim arrived at the Cafeteria after hearing the commotion all the way from the gym. Annoyed by what was happening, the principal yelled with a loud voice, "ENOUGH!!!!! NOW ALL OF YOU WILL STAY HERE AND CLEAN THE CAFETERIA UNTIL SOMEONE TELLS ME WHO STARTED THIS!!"
Interesting... the Cybermen episode will now be called "Nightmare in Silver." Also, the Whispermen creep me out. The finale is certainly interesting to look forward to, especially since it'll be the last thing before the big 50th anniversary episode.
And that there is why I love Series 7.[DOUBLEPOST=1364612173][/DOUBLEPOST]Anyway, speaking of this whole deal between Moffat/RTD, someone just reviewed "The Bells of Saint John" (positively). The review starts with this quote: Just when I thought I couldn't be more excited for tomorrow's episode. AAH, why can't tomorrow come faster!!?? To read the rest of the spoiler-free episode: http://doctorwhotv.co.uk/the-bells-of-saint-john-spoiler-free-review-46439.htm
But the thing is, I was still able to tell 9 and 10 were the same person as Doctors 1-8 (no, I never watched a classic episode, but I read alot about them in the TARDIS wiki). I still can't feel that way with 11. Whenever the Doctor regenerated (starting with his regeneration from 1 to 2, and up to his regeneration from 9 to 10, although no one knows about his regeneration from 8 to 9), there was always someone who knew him from his previous incarnation interacting with the new Doctor, and I feel that really made it easy for the viewer to realize that it was still the same man, just with a different look and personality. I was so disappointed that didn't happen in "The Eleventh Hour". Also, I don't mind the goofball attitude of 11, but I think it was overdone a bit. I preferred the broken man from Series 1-4 who made me want to jump in and help. Luckily for me, that man came back in "The Snowmen." Btw, let it be known that I am NOT against changes in a show. There was a big change from Series 1 going into Series 2, and I still enjoyed the show. But the changes in Series 5 & 6 were just... ugh... EDIT: I feel like such a Whovian Hipster for being the only one who doesn't like Moffat's direction and what he did with Series 5 and 6. People will continue praising them, but Series 5 and 6 will always look bad in my eyes.
I guess that's where I stand. When I started watching DW, it was the characters that really drew me in. RTD's era made me care for the characters, even if they weren't anywhere near the top on my list (like Martha). Moffat in Series 5 and 6 however... didn't do that for me unfortunately. I'm sure Moffat has some great ideas. He wrote some awesome episodes when RTD was showrunner. But I just wasn't satisfied by how his ideas were executed when he became showrunner. Matt Smith is a great actor, but it is very hard for me to view him as the same man who had 10 different incarnations. It's not Smith's fault, but just something I blame the writer for, hence Moffat. Plus, I was annoyed that the events of Series 1-4 were ignored, after investing so many hours into them! It was like a middle finger from Moffat to me! Series 5 was supposed to be a continuation, not a reboot. Of course, there was River Song... I really liked her in Series 4 (in which she appeared in episodes written by Moffat himself). But when she first appeared in Series 5, The Doctor just looked at her as though she was just a random person. I literally screamed "WTF"! I mean, after begging the woman to not sacrifice herself (despite only meeting her once), and watching her die, he finally sees her again, alive, and acts normal... I was seriously hoping for some emotion there, but no. And for that reason, I say RTD was the better guy to run the show (this article pretty much sums up my thoughts: http://doctorwhotv.co.uk/why-the-russell-t-davies-era-worked-45051.htm) But I do feel Moffat is redeeming himself with Series 7. Throwing away the arcs, having episodes with independent stories, I feel there's a lot more characterization now, and I actually care about the characters for once (I doubt I would've loved Rory's dad as much as I did had he been handled the way Moffat handled Series 5 and 6).
