"I'm the western wind god, that's who. "Whoa, guys. Break it up. "No, let them fight." "Stay out of this, dragon, or your next." "You've got a foul mouth on you, Zephyr. You want me to seal you back in the books?" "You wouldn't dare!" "Try me." "Alright, fine. I'll quit. Sorry I insulted you, Cliff."
"So, Cliff is the big tin can standing there?" "He's not a tin can, but yes, that's Cliff." "Not much to look at, is he?" Michael hit Zephyr on top of her head. "Now what did you do that for?!"
"Give me that." Zephyr took the eye from Cliff. "Now give me a boost, Michael." Michael piched Zephyr up. She placed the eye back into Kai's socket, weaved a little magic, and it was as good as new. "Now how do you feel?"
"Despite the fact that I nearly got 'killed', I'm doing just fine. Your not looking too good though..." "What happened to you, Kai?"
"Stay back, or I am going to kill this child!" "Leave her out of this, it's me you want!" "I'll deal with you in due time. First, I shall make you experience how its feels to lose a child to a killer." The man started to raise his knife to Zephyr's throat. Zephyr closed her eyes and delivered a mental shock to the man, making him drop her. "Damn you, you little wretch! I guess I'll just have to kill you first." He turned towards where Michael was standing, but he was no longer there. Michael dropped from the sky, swinging his sword down, slicing the man in two. "Took you long enough!" Zephyr said, clinging on to Michael's leg.
"Hey you!" Someone shouted from behind a tree. It was the bandit from the other night, and he was holding Zephyr. "You again? What do you want?" "Vengence. You remember those boys you killed. One of them was my son." "Your son and his friends beat me, broke my bones and left me to die. Besides I was possesed by a demon when I killed them." "Don't try to lie to me, murderer! I'm going to make you pay for what you've done, and I'm going to start with your child.
"Guess I'll go walk around town." Michael left the inn.
"Where's Cliff? Last time I saw him, I put him to sleep...."
Michael sighed. "I never really knew my mother. She died after I was born....."
"Nice song. Well, I'll give you two some time alone." Zephyr got up and walked outside.
"Why did you become a god in the first place, Zephyr?" "Didn't really have much of a choice. The others told me that I had the 'gift' and the next thing I knew, I became the western wind god." "I bet your parents miss you." "They died when I was four. This teddy bear is all I have to remember them by...."
"You can never rid yourself of the past, you can only come to terms with it and continue forward. That's what the trial of enlightenment does, it makes you face your past, or your greatest fears." Zephyr looked at Michael as she said the last part.
"We decided to have all keldon with different wings, because it would have been dull if you all had the same wings."
"Like I said before, the time that the keldon couldn't have wings is already over. They have to take their trial of enlightenment to get their wings back, though. You two have already been through the trial."
"Never really thought about that....The others mentioned something about that form being a spirit avatar, but don't really know what that is. I just know that I never really liked that form, I'm not a big fan of dogs. I'm more of a cat person."
"But if you can change into a wolf, why can't you change yourself to look older?" "Because this is my original form. I didn't use to be a wind god, you know. I was a replacement for the previous western wind god, because he went renegade and the others had to kill him." "So you were only six when you became a god?" "That's right."
"Sorry, I'm not much of a fighter. I'm more of an advisor for this trip. Besides, I've got the body of a six-year old, I wouldn't be much help to you in a fight."
"Some people just don't think...." Michael said as he adjusted his glasses. "Quite true...." Zephyr said as she mimicked Michael. "Cut it out."
"I've already got a room." Zephyr knocked on Michael's head. "Quit that."
