"Vexneah!" Xardius cried, running up next to her. "Need some help? Been some while since we worked together..."

    "Rune," Xardius whispered. "Forgive me..."

The Saga of Xardius: Part Three

Darius spun on his heel, his sword hacking into the brigand's middle and erupting from his shoulder. Darius twisted and another fell to the ground, head cut in two. Darius sprinted forward, two muffled explosions coming from behind him. Brigands were rare, even now, and most preferred to use hired machines to do their dirty work. Unfortunately, if they ever ran into someone skilled, the brigands were tough out of luck because the machines were incredibly lacking.

Rune sprinted from a nearby brush, spinning his swallow.

"You got 'em?" Rune asked, smirking.

"Yes," Darius said, frowning. "You expected something different in the outcome?"

"One scratch," Rune shrugged. "That's what I expected. You're getting better."

"Better than you," Darius muttered, shaking his head at Rune's obvious arrogance.

"Sure, sure," Rune said, laughing and smirking inbetween.

Darius could only shake his head.

"Head back to camp and pick up the old crystal I left there will you?" Rune asked after a bit. "I think we're going to need it."

    "Sure," Darius said, already turning.

    ***
The crystal was sitting by a cabinet. Darius reached for it, then noticed a slip of paper on the desk. Picking it up, he scanned it, then reread it slowly.

    It read:
My liege, the time has come. The holocaust of blood only awaits your approval. Please, accept the assignment and join us in defeating the light once and for all. With your powers, we can do anything...Let us destroy everything. Let us kill again. Let us destroy them all.......Answer me soon.
    Zaxor

Darius didn't know who Zaxor was, but he did know one thing: Suddenly everything clicked--Rune's mysterious skill at weaponry in a peaceful land, his obsession with killing things, and even his smirk came into focus.

    Darius couldn't believe it.

Snatching up the crystal, he sprinted back to Rune.

"Is it true?" Darius asked, breathlessly. "Is it true what that letter said, about you killing innocent people and asking you to do it again?"

Rune stiffened. "I shouldn't have left that out...Now I have to..."

He twisted and Darius took a step back. "Give me the crystal, Darius."

    "Why?"

"Give it here!" A murderous light turned in Rune's eyes.

"N-n-no! Not until you tell me if it's true!" Darius cried.

"Fine!" Rune snapped, and suddenly he grinned. "It's true...All of it. Soon I will rise up with my brethren in spirit and destroy the light worlds once and for all...Too long have we lived in darkness...And I'm not going to let a young brat like you stand in my way! If you don't give me the crystal, I'll be forced to kill you!"

Carefully, Darius shoved the crystal into his pack and pulled his heavy sword which he had named Chomper from its holdings.

"You will try," Darius said coldly.

"Fool!" Rune spat and he raced for Darius. Darius didn't flinch, simply moved his head to the side. Blood sprayed from his cheek as Rune's sword cut a sharp angle across it. Darius smiled coldly as his own sword imbedded itself in Rune's chest.

Rune gasped and leaped back. "ACK!"

"I'm sorry, tutor, but I can't allow you to destroy the worlds..." Darius said sadly.

"If you think that little thing is going to stop me, you're wrong!" Rune said, standing up, his wound flashing fire for a moment before it was gone. "I'm a Phoenix you fool!"

Darius gasped, then grimaced. "You taught me too well, Rune, and you were a fool to tell me that. I know your weakness."

"Do you now?" Rune asked, and he sprinted forward, his sword coming out. Darius spun away and suddenly the crystal was in his hands. Rune screamed as the crystal ripped into his right eye. Darius roared as he threw his senses at Rune. Rune screamed again as power began draining from him into the crystal...

He threw himself back, the crystal ripping from his eye. "NOOO!" Rune cried.

Darius roared again. "You have no escape!"

Rune had one last cry of defiance before he was gone, sent to a dimensional vortex...

    ***
Rune slowly wrapped the bandages around his bleeding eye, then leaned back, the chains extending and digging into his flesh.

"I will wait...Darius," Rune said. "But when I am free, I am coming after you...my old friend."

OOC: Yeah, that makes sense. I thought we weren't accepting any more members anyhow. Too many people like Sam (crazy, no brains, no grammar, and godmodding horribly). That's for Division 2...right?

OOC: What do you mean by "power-playing?" Because here's my definition:

Going beyond the bounds set by your character and failing to respect other peoples' powers as much as your own.

It's not fair to have everyone at the same power level, but then again, it isn't fair for someone to go: I can beat everyone. Even Xardius has weaknesses and he's like a virtual war god (not power-playing, simple fact).

Characters with different power levels give the RP some definition and having an enemy stronger than you are (such as Zaxor, who can take on three UO members at once and survive, as seen) makes the RPers work harder and create better strategies to defeat their enemy.

    That's my tip on power-playing.

I PMed you Chapter Eight, Nul, and I'm starting on Chapter Nine, just for everyone's info.

OOC: There aren't any traitors in the UO. Technically, Jet was in the League of Roth, so he was a traitor to the League of Roth, and Nulix was never a traitor because the UO doesn't have traitors.

For one, we have resignations...for two, we have wacky insane people who do whatever they want...but they aren't traitors. The UO is an organization of Nobodies that are banding together for a common goal...Decking out isn't being a traitor, just being a coward and having no honor in your bones whatsoever. There, I'm done with my speech.

And I'm going to write the next chapter now for the Fan-fic.

    Dyran sighed, waved, and winked.

"I suppose we'll be seeing each other very soon, then Nulix," Dyran said, walking off and humming to himself.

    OOC: Gotta go.

Dyran scratched his head thoughtfully, staring down at Nulix because he topped him by about a foot.

"Well, you could give me some exercise..." he said thoughtfully. "Let's play a little game. If you beat me, I'll buy you all ice cream and express tickets to the nearest theme park. You lose, and I'll go back to my original RP, because this is the wrong one..."

Dyran Dirge opened the door, and stepped through. He was a powerful looking man with raven black hair and emerald green eyes. He was dressed in clean black clothes and looked unsure.

"Is this the right room?" he asked, holding up a paper. "It says I'm bunking with Lance and lotsa other people."
