"Edward!" Hannah called after him, though she knew he probably couldn't hear her. She wrapped her arms around herself, getting cold. "Be careful..." She walked slowly back to the camp. "He left." She said to Jinx, as steadily as she could. "I'll be awake all night... worrying about him...."
Rei hugged Becky, his wings wrapping around her. "You're nuts."
Hannah stayed still, her heart pounding. "I want to be with you."
Rei lowered his eyes. "I really didnt' want it to be you."
Hannah shook her head, despite her fear. "I'm not leaving you, Edward." She moved a bit closer.
"There are... things that have to happen." Rei started slowly. "Eventually, I'll have to leave... and by then... one of my Tamer's family, my family, die. It's always been that way. And it's usually the one that involves them self the most."
Hannah hesitated, but slowly walked closer to Edward. "I'm sorry about earlier... Edward, please look at me." She stopped a few feet from him.
Rei looked at Becky. "He didn't mean what he said. I'm sure of it."
Hannah shook her head. "I'll go.... It's okay." She walked back through the forest, following Edward's foot and scent prints. "Edward," She called gently when she reached him.
"Nap time?" Wizard asked. "Wiz, it's not even noon." Rei laughed a bit.
"He's gone...." Hannah said quietly. She only half noticed when Edward came running past. "He won't come back." She rubbed her cheek. She couldn't decide whether his 'loving' touch or slap hurt more. "Van Helsing... you might want to find Edward...."
"I think he just needs some time to think." Rei excused Kairuto. "It has been rough. I haven't been doing a good job either."
Hannah wiped her eyes. Once they were free of tears, they caught a passing shadow. She looked up at the sky, but didn't see anything through the trees. "Nice night." Hannah would have screamed if it weren't for the hand that had come over her mouth. "Let's talk." John let go of Hannah. "You've two days left, but I'd like to know if you've made your choice." "Leave me alone!" Hannah yelled. John held up a hand, silencing Hannah. "I take that as a no. Not a problem, you've still got time." He stroked Hannah's cheek. "Give my regards to the hunter." Hannah closed her eyes at his touch. "Keep away from me." But when she opened her eyes, John had left. "B*stard." She felt new tears come to her eyes as she walked back to the others.
Rei nodded slowly. "Don't worry too much, 'kay? It'll blow over." Wizard hopped over to Rei's shoulder. "Kyuu?" "Yeah, I'm sure." Rei rubbed Wizard's head.
Hannah leaned back against a tree, crying quietly. What was that about...?
"Not any more!" Kairuto turned on her. "I don't want you interfering anymo-" Rei took over. His wings were drooped and his head was hung. "I'm sorry about him, Becky-chan."
"Let me go...." Hannah almost whimpered. "I don't want to talk right now... not about that...."
"That's none of your business." Kairuto said.
"I don't want to talk about this right now." Hannah said. "Edward, let me go. Please."
Wizard held onto Becky's shoulder. Kairuto looked at Becky. "Forget something?" he asked. "Hungry?"
