"Where is he?" Hinata asked, speaking of Naruto, her stance still defensive as she searched for the impersonator.
"Keep her away from Lestat." Hannah answered Van Helsing. "He is to her what John is to me." She stood up, gently pulling Beatrice to her feet. "I'm sorry, Beatrice. I don't think it would have been different if I went with you though." Beatrice still clung to Hannah. Hannah detached herself from Beatrice. "We need to go."
Hinata's eyes changed to the Byakugan and struck the impersonator in the chest and shoulder.
Hannah fought with herself whether to stay or go for only a moment. She was next to Van Helsing with a bit of hesitation. She thought of holding her breath, but when she saw Beatrice she knew it wasn't needed. She looked at Van Helsing and then back at Beatrice, her eyes back to blue. She knelt down in front of Beatrice. Beatrice opened her eyes and looked at Hannah. She was lost for words. Hannah locked eyes with Beatrice, not wanting to look at the blood. "Beatrice..." Beatrice threw her arms around Hannah and held on to her. "Hannah, I..." "It's okay." Hannah tried to sound convincing.
"I don't know," Hannah started, the warmth of Edward helping. "Beatrice's blood just... burst into the air. Lots of it."
"But you said it was important." Hinata said. "Did they find someone else?"
"Hannah...." Beatrice finally said. If Van Helsing wasn't a hunter, Beatrice just might have bit him. "Distract me." Hannah opened her burning gold eyes. All her thoughts were on the smell of Beatrice's blood.
"Lestat." Beatrice moaned through the pain. "The one... Hannah... told you about." She gasped out, her eyes shut tightly. "Edward...." Hannah called softly, not sure if she wanted him near her or not. The urge to chase down Beatrice grew stronger as she resisted it. "Edward!"
I think that some animals do have a 'sixth sense' that allows them to see and do things we cannot. Your dog may be seeing a spirit or sensing that an accident is about to happen. I would bet on the former seeing as no one has chopped off a finger or something after your dog panics.
I absolutely LOVE horses! =D I think I'd explode if they went extinct DX
Beatrice just stared at Van Helsing, her eyes coming back to focus. Hearing his question, she slowly nodded. The pain was setting in deeper now; her hands flew to her neck and she couldn't help but yell. Hannah squeezed her eyes shut. She murmured to herself to forget the smell, that Beatrice was fine and had probably just tripped or ran her hand along a rough tree.
Hannah's eyes burned gold. She hurried back into the carriage with Edward, sitting across from him. She leaned down so her forehead was against her knees as she tried to think of something other thant the smell of Beatrice's blood. Beatrice felt as though she was watching herself do the action instead of doing it herself. But once she started, she found herself wanting more.
Hannah covered her nose to block the smell. "I know that smell...," She shook her head trying to clear it and resist the urge to follow the scent. "Go!" She yelled at Van Helsing. "That's Beatrice's blood!" Beatrice clouded state of mind could only come to one conclusion. I don't want to die....
Hannah ignored Van Helsing, going to Sorin and Lexi and trying to calm them. "Where's Beatrice?" She thought aloud, panicked. Her eyes glazed over and her hands froze on Sorin. "I smell blood...." Beatrice couldn't speak, couldn't choose, couldn't think clearly. Pain rippled through her but calm did at the same time.
"John and Lestat were rough on him." Hannah said. Beatrice's heart was reacting properly, it was pounding against her chest, but the rest of her body felt numb. She wanted to protest but couldn't. Sorin cantered back to Van Helsing and Hannah, followed by Lexi. Both were panicked.
"What?" Hannah folded her arms. "If you had been there you wouldn't be like this." Beatrice's heart raced; she was well beyond afraid now. She tried to struggle against Lestat's hold, but it didn't effect his hold on her at all. Sorin's head jerked up when Beatrice left his side.
Hannah tried to remember if he had. "If he did, I don't recall. But it might just be from John....I'm still a bit foggy." She admitted. Beatrice tensed when Lestat touched Lexi as if he were touching her. "You're Lestat...?" She knew she wouldn't be able to do this on her own. "Hannah! Van Helsing!"
"Oh," Hannah was a bit surprised. She'd thought Van Helsing wanted to hear Edward's side of the story. Sorin bent his head and started eating the grass while Beatrice drew her sword. She turned around, letting go of Lexi's reigns. She figured that the man either meant her no harm or was much stronger than her for not caring if she had her sword drawn or not. "Who are you?" She hoped her voice hadn't wavered. "I'm traveling with a group so don't think I'm alone. I'll call to them if you try anything."
Hannah sighed. "What did you want to talk to Edward about?" Beatrice tightened her grip on Lexi's reigns, her other hand fell from Sorin's neck. She felt a chilled wave of fear pass through her. She thought of calling out for Van Helsing or Edward, but found her throat constricted. Her free hand went to the hilt of her sword.
Beatrice headed off with Sorin and Lexi. "You two deserve a good rest. You both did great." She followed the sound of water. "Why don't you go with her?" Hannah asked, though she knew it was pointless since Beatrice already left.
