Hannah buried her face in Lestat's shirt. She couldn't say anything else, only think about how much it hurt. John folded his arms and sighed. "Oh Edward," He called. "You'll be happy to know that Hannah will probably be staying with us. Consider your burden ours now."
Hannah turned into Lestat's embrace. "He... doesn't care?" She asked, choking back sobs. "Not in the least." John said simply. "He led you on." Hannah clung to Lestat. "Why...?" "Probably to do what all his kind want to: kill vampires." John enjoyed the turn of events. "He thought he might be able to get closer to Jinx, myself, and probably Lestat too, bye gaining your trust. Once he'd killed us, he'd take care of you too."
Hannah found it hard to take her eyes away from Lestat until John turned her away. It's no wonder Beatrice couldn't stand up to him. "If you're done drooling," John grit his teeth. "You might be interested to know that 'your sweet Edward' doesn't want you to come back." "You're lying...." Hannah's voice was barely a whisper. Her vision blurred with tears as she looked back to Lestat, hoping he'd tell her it wasn't true.
Hannah's now blue eyes looked over Lestat, almost completely overwhelmed. She was sure they could both hear her heart quicken and see the blood rise in her cheeks. "You're Lestat...?" John rolled his eyes. "Leave the mutt alone. I can practically feel waves of anger coming off him."
"Do you hear that heartbeat, dove?" John turned and let go of Hannah, his eyes scanning the darkness. Hannah backed away from John. "Yes." She held her head. I know that heartbeat... Edward?! "So he did come." John mused aloud, hearing Hannah's thoughts. Edward, go! The sound of a heartbeat, werewolf or not, after thinking about Angelyn drove Hannah close to a breaking point. "Be quiet Hannah." John ordered. "And don't lose yourself. You know what happens to vampires who take a werewolf."
John pulled away from Hannah, hearing Lestat. "I promised you a story. Though I doubt you'll remember anything now." Hannah shook her head, trying to clear it. "Very well. I'll save it for when you're coherent." John laughed. He ran his fingers along Hannah's neck. "You still want that girl. Angelyn, was it?" Hannah shivered at John's touch. "No..." She lied. "You know very well that you could go, take her, and be back before the sun rose." John said smoothly. "Why not do it?" "Because... she...." Hannah lost her reason. "Edward wouldn't want-" "But he doesn't have to know." John smiled to one side. "You don't really care. You want that girl more than you care if he cares about you. Remember her smell?" Hannah's eyes melted to gold. "Yes." She replied, almost too quickly. "Remember how much you wanted her?" John wrapped his arms around Hannah. "Yes." Hannah repeated. It took a bullet to stop her last time. If she was careful, and now that Elijah was gone, she'd have Angelyn easily.
"I think you're jealous!" Hannah turned around, but kept her eyes away from John's. John ignored Lestat. "Jealous of a mongrel like him?" He lifted Hannah's chin so she had to look at him, and kissed her. Hannah felt her thoughts cloud over. Beatrice looked towards the noise. "Yeah, I do."
"Okay I will." Beatrice replied, once again letting Jinx lead. I shouldn't have upset Edward... Hannah thought, walking into the woods. John caught the thought. "You don't honestly care. You're just using him to hide behind." "I am not!" Hannah yelled, scanning the trees for a sign of John. "Then why do you stay distant from him?" John asked. "I don't want to hurt him...." Hannah answered, continuing. John grabbed Hannah's shoulder. "Oh, I don't think so."
"Nothing." Hannah said quietly and got out of the carriage. "That was a bit cold." John chuckled at his joke. Hannah only groaned, starting to get used to the pain of having a voice in her head. "I'm coming." "Hurry along now, dear." John smirked. Beatrice nodded. "Okay."
"Not people." Beatrice replied quickly. "Edward...," Hannah started carefully. "All he has to do is speak...." She turned to look at Edward. "I won't have a choice."
"What if I don't come back...?" Hannah asked, her eyes still on the sky. "Only part of me does." Beatrice amended. "I don't really understand it...."
Hannah lowered her eyes. "I don't want to be near him any longer than I have to." She looked out the carriage window. She smiled a bit, seeing the sun had gone down. Beatrice nodded, looking at the ground.
"Within the hour." Hannah said. "I'll leave at the last minute." She sighed, smiling. Beatrice sighed, ashamed of herself. "Whatever I can...."
"Carl." Beatrice blurted and then covered her mouth. "No, no. I didn't mean it!" "He probably won't answer." Hannah sighed. "I... I can ask though."
Hannah smiled at Edward. "If he can't catch me, he can't hurt me." Her smiled widened at the look he gave her. "But I won't do anything to bother him. I promise." Beatrice ran her tongue along her teeth. "Right.... Eating...."
"But what if I can't control myself...?" Beatrice murmured. "What if I hurt someone?" "I'll be as careful as I can." Hannah promised. "But if I chance upon that Lestat guy, I'm not going to hold my tongue." She folded her arms.
Dai hurried out of the room the second Akari pricked her finger. She didn't give Becky, Akito, or Panzela a second look as she passed them to the small lunch courtyard.
Hannah was about to go off about Lestat, but she contained herself. "What else could he possibly want to to talk to me about?" "I don't know...." Beatrice said quietly, letting Jinx lead.
"He didn't say you couldn't come." Hannah said. "I don't want to go at all, but I don't really have a choice."
OOC: XD ditto "I need to be excused." Dai told the teacher rather than asking as he came by.
