'Not fast enough.' Alucard skid to a stop. The fire was rapidly spreading. He cursed the beast and at the same time wondered if it had been a past enemy that decided to light the tower on fire. Alucard was trapped on all sides by the flames and could feel his breathing becoming heavier. The wolf looked for an escape route. He howled.

Xioimara's ears perked up as a reasonable howl hit her ears calling for help. Sure, she was evil. She didn't fathom why seeing animals in pain bothered her. Without a second thought she glanced at Toki and Rita and darted towards the fire. Her swift reflexes and cunning helped maneuver a way through the fire. Yes, Xioimara was strong and had the willpower to fight even if she was half-dead. As stubborn strong as this wolf was it wouldn't stop smoke from invading her lungs.

The wolf neared the source of the howl. Without a thought she attempted to jump the flame that blocked Alucard. The heat was almost over-powering. She managed to clear the flames, though her belly fur was singed. She had been expecting a malnourished dog at most. This was different though. The stranger dog was bigger than her, by a lot too. It wasn't even a dog. It was a wolf. A crash lifted Xioimara from her daydream. A small but thick plank of metal had crashed between the two. Covering some flames momentarily. Enough flames to escape this circle of fire.

"This way." Alucard exclaimed and without a moments hesitation bolted through the small exit.
Xioimara's heart leapt. He was a shape-shifter as well. Or she could translate wolf really well. She followed him.

Alucard cursed himself for taking this way. He turned and looked back at Xioimara. They were trapped. They were trapped by walls and fire. It didn't take him much time to realize that this tower was going to come down on top of both of them. He looked at the wolf. He could tell she was trying to keep a brave appearance.

"We're trapped." Xioimara choked. She was scared but deep-down she was ready to face death with the same-old, 'I'm boss.' look. The smoke was starting to make her dizzy and gave her a headache. She laid down in an effort to breathe easier. It didn't do anything. Xioimara closed her eyes to prevent the ashes of the fire from stinging them. It was the worst possible choice to make but it welcomed death in a less painful way, if anything.

Alucard followed Xioimara. He laid down next to her. They were both well-aware that they weren't going to make it out alive. They also knew that in the small minutes they had known each other, they were both shape-shifters. Alucard put his head down as he struggled to breathe and watched as Xioimara closed her eyes. He didn't stop her but simply watched as her green eyes shut one last time. Her eyes still had fight in them. He supposed she was saving it for later.

Alucard's breathing became increasingly heavy as his clouded blue eyes started to close without notice. He listened closely as he heard one final exhale from Xioimara. He watched her lifeless body for the seconds that remained for him and with his last breath the wolf shut his eyes.

Very much! I'm coming back in winter though so won't be much to miss. I <3 snow.
