Eleanora had spent most of her day alone in the dorm room reading. She hadn't heard or seen anything out of the ordinary, so either she was extremely lucky or the snake problem was dying down. Cherno left and hadn't returned. She did not know where he was or what he was doing, but she hoped her body was okay. She did not want to be a boy forever.

The day wore on. She cooked some eggs for lunch and didn't eat anything after. She wasn't very hungry. Her head was pounding and the gray of her vision was obnoxious. She was not a dog. She wanted her normal sight back. This was stupid. Cherno's body was stupid.

She was tempted to go to the hospital but she didn't have any of his information, so she stayed there alone instead. Why had he left her like that? With HER body? How selfish. John had been friends with him?

She eventually fell asleep with her head squished between two pillows, wondering what kind of person John had really been.

How nostalgic. It felt like such a long time ago that he had been in this bedroom. It smelled so clean and new, like a hotel room. His scent had definitely vanished. He was both annoyed by and thankful for that. At least it did not smell like someone else. It seemed that his room had been left untouched, minus some cleaning. Dull, pale yellow lights switched on a few moments after he entered. A thin black screen remained drawn over his large window.

He shut himself in and took the necessary steps from the door to a wardrobe on the far right of the room. Leisurely, he changed into a pair of boxers and loose-fitting afterwords trudging into the bathroom to brush his teeth and wash his face.

WELCOME HOME, JAMES...WOULD YOU LIKE ANYTHING?

He flinched. He had forgotten about KIERA. Her flat robotic voice raised the dark hairs on his newly healed arms. He rubbed the back of his skull and sat down on the edge of the cold bed. The mattress melted and molded below him.

    No, thank you. Good night.

    GOOD NIGHT, JAMES...INITIALIZING SLEEP MODE.

A quiet, sweet tune played through an intercom and a wave of grief washed over his soul. Memories of the past quickly contaminated his thoughts. The lights faded away and Theodore tipped over onto his side. The bedspread was cold. He considered switching on the heated blanket for a moment, but decided against it. The cold kept the deep sleep and nightmares away.

His heavy eyelids drooped and he allowed them to close, smothering his face into the soft, black pillowcase.

The humming of a ceiling fan starting up and the constant beeping of a heart monitor is what initially woke him; but it was the uncomfortable sleeping position that made him open his eyes. His entire body was ridiculously stiff. He found the most comfort in sleeping on his side and that was not an option. His leg was obviously broken, and maybe his neck and he most likely sprained or broke his wrist. He hadn't bothered asking Valerie what was wrong with him. His nose crinkled. Disappointment. He hadn't managed to get her number. What a failure he was.

His eyes glazed over the fan and cast themselves to his right. Yes. No mistaking it. He was at Antilum Labs. His lungs stretched and his ribs ached as he took a shaky breath. From his peripheral he could see the gleam of the observation glass. Behind it, his father taking a sip of coffee and gazing down at some documents. Theodore's perpetual frown turned into scowled.

At least stand by my bedside like a normal parent.

The static pop of the intercom hitched once before the distorted voice of his father came through.

Had I been standing there as you awakened, I would have only disturbed you. The salt-and-pepper haired man smiled and his face wrinkled. When had he gotten so old? ...This was not an ordinary accident...Not at all.

The beeping coming from the heart monitor sped up a bit and Theodore swallowed, listening to the sound of his father getting up from the chair and entering the examination room.

    Are you well, James?

It was small talk so he didn't answer. The bastard was fiddling around with the buttons on a black and blue touch screen remote control. As the hospital bed lifted and the seat folded to bring Theodore upright, he felt his right eye involuntarily twitch. A dull pain pulsed through his broken leg and anger flared up inside of him ... if only for a moment. The opening of a glass vile caught his attention and a sweet, cotton-candy like aroma wafted through the room. He already knew what it was by the time his father's hand appeared in front of his face and the vile was forced against his lips.

    Drink it.

The sweet smell did not match the taste. It burned. It was sour and citric like a sort of lemon extract, and it was painful going down. His lips, tongue and then throat were on fire. It felt as though a flaming torch was being dragged down to his stomach. His body shook and his tears pricked at his eyes. He would not cry.

When the vile was empty, he reached his arms up and tore the brace away from his neck, tearing through the bandages around his wrist. His fingernails clawed uselessly against the cast that wrapped around his leg. Failing, he reluctantly turned his gaze to his father. The scientist smiled and turned around. His black shoes clicked against the stainless white floor as he left and returned with a small power saw.

Once the cast was removed, Theodore dangled his legs off of the side of the bed and stretched. He wasted no more time touching his toes to the cold floor after. He was wearing nothing but a hospital gown.

    Is Elliot here?

    Not today.

Good. Before I go...Your snakes are still loose. This is all your fault.

Pity. I do hope to get them all gathered before sunset. They are apart of a grand experiment that could change everything. They are...special creatures. Would you like to see?

    ❝...I am not interested.

It was a bit of a lie. He was very curious...but he promised long ago that he would not get caught up in these schemes. So, instead, he left the room. As he entered the long, dark hallway, he could hear his father, Dr. Timothy, warn him of the side effects. Any light that existed shimmered off of the sleek, chrome surfaces and light gray walls.

Antilum was...humongous, to say the least. Tall. Modern. Sleek. Beautiful, if you looked at it from a certain perspective. There were ten floors in the main building available to the public and five different sectors. A, B , C, D, an E. Each sector was closed off by high security which allowed access to a bridge which then branched off into another building (that corresponded with the appropriate letter). There was no way that Theodore knew of to enter or exit any of the separate branches without passing through the main building's security.

He was on Floor Twelve of Sector C. This is where human experimentation and observation was done. He was quite used to these dark walls and had no problem maneuvering through the long, maze-like hallways and to the elevator. It was quiet, with the exception of a crackling Nel Blu Dipinto di Blu coming from the circle-shaped speakers embedded upon the high ceilings.

The song bounced off of the walls and repeated like usual when it finished. Theodore knew all of the words and tapped his foot to the tempo as the elevator he had boarded descended down to Floor Eleven--where his bedroom would be.

    WELL, WELL. . .

    "EXCUSE ME."

'Marcus' stood and left the room. Everyone was settled and getting to sleep. There was no more time to waste. The days were winding down. A winner was needed. Everyone was useless. Useless, useless, useless, USELESS. The world glazed over and melted into a familiar gray.

This soul was different, but the body held the curse. He rolled his shoulders as he stood out in the hall. The hissing of the snakes brought him comfort. He could hear the sound of their slithering behind him and turned around. A smile played faintly on his lips as he knelt onto the carpet, closing his eyes as one snake in particular found it's way up his thighs and around his shoulders.

    "HUSH...COME, NOW."

Then he was gone; appearing again in a dimmed hospital room. Hospitals were so much more interesting at night. The silence was simply electrifying.

He made no sound as he gazed down at her face. It didn't match her spirit at all.

"YOU NEVER WERE THE SAME AFTER BRIAN'S DISAPPEARANCE. PITY, PITY."

He held out an arm, tilting his head in slight remorse as the snake made it's way down and settled on Aileen's chest. He nodded and the large snake lurched forward, sinking it's fangs into Aileen's--or Daniel's, neck.

"I THINK WILL LEAVE YOU HERE. THERE IS PLENTY OF FOOD. PERHAPS THIS WOULD BE A GOOD LOCATION FOR YOU TO LAY YOUR EGGS? FAREWELL."

Again, he disappeared and reappeared in another hospital room. This was the room of Kallisti (or Cristina). His steps were more aggressive this time. He placed two fingers on the blonde's forehead.

    "WAKE UP."

Her eyes shot open and Marcus inched closer so that their noses were nearly touching. He wasted no time getting to the point.

"KALLISTI. I HATE YOU THE MOST. PATHETIC."

His fingertips were forced harder against her skull.

"REMEMBER. NOW. EVERYTHING. REMEMBER IT. I WILL NOT LET YOU PROTECT YOURSELF.DECLARATION: REMEMBER EVERYTHING.YOU WILL DIE. YOU WILL DIE, YOU COWARD, BUT I WILL NOT ALLOW YOU TO DIE SO EASILY. YOU HAVE UNTIL AFTER NEW YEARS BEFORE I TAKE YOUR LIFE. I WILL NOT LET YOU HIDE ANYMORE. NEVER AGAIN. I WILL BREAK YOU."

When he removed his fingertips, a bruise was present. Her eyes closed as soon as his touch left her, and he disappeared.

He didn't even bother being elaborate with this one. Tyler had been on the way to visit his mother, hadn't he? And he had gone alone, out into the cold. Tch. Tyler would not make it to his mother's. He would die in a simple fashion.

Marcus simply grabbed his collar and literally threw him into the street. He allowed a few moments between his landing there and the car with busted headlights that was quickly approaching so that the teenager could register the change if he bothered to. For a moment, the world burst back into color and Marcus confirmed that he had been hit before leaving the location.

He returned back to Altair's dorm with a yawn...and then collapsed onto the floor.

With determination, Eleanora nodded, eyes sparkling. It wasn't until her hand was taken that she lost a bit of motivation. John...The pain. It hurt more in this dull, colorless world; but somehow it also felt...empty. Hollow, barren, lifeless pain.

By the time they arrived at her dorm, her expression was blank. The room was empty. Where had Bronagh gone? She shook her head and entered, going directly to her bed without much thought and pulling her pillows away.

There it was. White, shiny, smooth...Her wand laid untouched. She wrapped her hand around it and visibly flinched. It felt like cold plastic in her grip. Usually, she would feel a surge of energy and her spirit would be lifted. Not in this body. How strange, though, for her abilities to just plain vanish with the transferring of her soul. What was so special about her body?

She turned and held the wand out to Cherno.

When you're overwhelmed, use this. Transfer the energy into the wand with your mind. I advise you not to do anything t-too intense, unless you must. Please don't use the wand to hurt anyone. If it is used with malicious intent, it will turn black.

The tone of her voice was completely flat. What was so special about magic anyway? This all sounded ridiculous, really. Dead eyes locked onto her barely familiar blue ones. Why was she wearing such bright clothing? No wonder people thought she was a nine-year-old. Her skull felt like it was about to crack open. So much pain. She sat down on the edge of her bed.

Sleep here tonight, if you want. My roommate is absent.

She didn't waste anymore time slipping her shoes off and pulling her blanket up over her head and heading to sleep. No time for pleasantries, after all.

I am seventeen as well, Theodore...

    _INTEREST LOST. . . [IMG]

She was just a bit older than him. How disappointing. He was glad she couldn't see his face fall. Still, he remained polite and stayed quiet. He sort of tuned her out after that, staring at the ceiling and then towards the closed window with the blinds drawn, and then up at the pathetically small television bolted up in the right corner of the blinding room. He allowed his thoughts to wander until he felt a warmth approaching him.

Wait--what are you doing...?His tone was genuine. He couldn't see her. The sound of wheels rolling halted, however. Was someone in the room? This was agonizing...The blunt voice of Plain Jane was heard. It sounded so different when Marina's soul wasn't commanding it. He relaxed himself. Crisis...avoided?

He tuned out the conversation and resumed his mindless examinations. His mind traveled back to the sound of the snake he had heard. The Ugalavine Stalking Snake, huh...? Stalking Snake...Stalking. He went pale. Why did it have to be that one?

    Mr. Le--

His eyes flashed as he heard the new nurse (Valerie where did you go?) speak.

Weldon. Mr. Weldon. I assume my father has sent for me?

    ❝...Yes, sir.

Theodore frowned and closed his eyes as a crowd of strangers gathered around to move him from the bed and onto a stretcher. He winced and then relaxed.

    Thank you, Marina. Goodbye.

He wasn't sure what he was thanking her for. The helicopter attempt, maybe. He nearly invited her to be transferred with him but...that wouldn't be wise. Not at all. He let the thought go as he was swiftly wheeled out of the room.

Hello there Theodore. Long time no see...How are you feeling hon?

His face was blank for a minute as he registered his father's words and wallowed in regret, but gradually his expression softened. He tried to turn his head, but he couldn't. That was...frustrating. He probably looked pathetic right now. His cheeks went hot. Still, he didn't have to look at her to know what she was now. The beauty. How lucky that he had ended up in a room with her...Somewhat. There was something off about her...something snobbish. He wasn't necessarily one to talk, but it rubbed him the wrong way and made him weary. He was not to be manipulated. ...But she had saved him, so she couldn't be that bad, right?

Hello, Marina. He wondered if she minded him calling her that. Perhaps she went by another name unless she was close with someone. He left it up to her to correct him. I am well...How are you? Are you badly injured? Tha...

He bit down on his tongue to stop himself, having been compelled to thank her again. Here wasn't the right place. He would thank her later, in a more meaningful fashion. He knew he didn't have much time before he was whisked away, so he cleared his through and decided to ask something that had been nagging him about her.

I hope you are okay...May I ask you something? I know that it's impolite but I'm curious...How... old are you? You attend Brookridge, correct? So a teenager, then? Eighteen or nineteen maybe? I am sorry. I know you're 'not supposed to' ask women that question. I am seventeen, if it helps you feel more comfortable. Probably doesn't.

    Time ticked on.
