Cross multiplying is for finding equivalency, there is no trick to multiplying fractions so he's got it. Numerator is numerator 1 times numerator 2, denominator is denominator 1 times denominator 2, then simplify if possible.

Well let's see. 22/7 / 4/7 Wait well it seems like we can take a shortcut here and multiply the whole thing by 1 (ie 7/7) (22/7 / 4/7) * (7/7) = 22/4 = 11/2 So yeah you almost got it right but if I had to take a stab at what you did wrong I'd say you multiplied the denominator by the inverse of the numerator instead of the numerator by the inverse of the denominator.
Make them improper, multiply the numerator by the inverse of the denominator. There ya go.
