I didn't actually see anything at first, but to me it looks like a skeletal Pikachu. As in one where it is so old that the skin is receding from the skull and the eyes are nothing but black pits staring at you.

Did it not begin in South America during the Colonial age when it mutated from an animal disease and spread rapidly from the cramped and squalid conditions in the trading posts? This then spread all over the world with the traders, especially Africa.

Silly Dutch traders and their incessant love making >_>

We are one of the top species in terms of adaptability. By that I mean when the climate changes (or we migrate to a new climate) we are able to survive and adapt in such a way that allows us to continue propagating. Other organisms (mostly bacteria) can survive in much more extreme conditions, but if you moved them to other environments they would not survive for very long.

I think that puts us much higher than virtually all other life on earth in terms of "superiority", although that kind of goes back to an argument of semantics.

On the topic of this thread, just because we are the most adaptable does not mean that we had to be designed. It is basic common sense that over time the most adaptable species would be the one that becomes most widespread. It would also be the one to have the biggest chance for evolution to take place and therefore increasing the chance of sapience occurring (which it obviously did for humans).

As I have said, that doesn't matter. We don't have to provide evidence to disprove god. It is not the place of science to prove negative theories, only positive ones (in the sense that we prove that gravity is the force that keeps us on earth and disprove that it is, we do not prove that it is not).

Evolution and the Big Bang are ignored and/or contradicted in the Bible so they do technically kind of count as proof against the existence of the Christian god (I don't know enough about other Abrahamic religions to say about their gods)

EDIT: @ DPWolf, He means that evolution and the Big Bang are not evidence that god does not exist. He is not saying that evolution and the Big Bang never happened.

It is called the Anthropic Principle, read up on it. It states that the reason everything seems so perfect and suited to human life is because the universe has created human life. If things had not been so perfect (not that they are exactly perfect, but you know what I mean) then we would never have appeared and never would have cared (or been there to notice) that things are not perfect. Really quite simple, and just goes to show that just because an occurrence is rare does not automatically make it impossible or a "miracle".

Also, the argument "Where is your proof that god does not exist?" is ******ed. Plain stupid. The onus is on the supporter of the theory to provide evidence. YOU have to prove to us (with evidence, and no the Bible or other "holy" texts do not count unless they have a valid source. To date I know of no such text) that god exists, it is not our responsibility to prove with evidence that it does not exist. Not that it wouldn't be difficult, I do it on a daily basis ;D

As childofturin as already said (and I have touched on in this post) extreme odds do not stop something happening. As long as the probability is above 0 then, given enough time, it WILL happen. In the case of life arising it only has to happen the once as it has here on earth.

Interesting fact: You can fall from an aeroplane without a parachute and survive provided you land on something like snow.

That would be acceleration (m/s^2) and on Earth the average value is 9.81 to two decimal places. But in simpler examples 10 will often be used.

It basically means that for every second you are falling your speed will increase by 9.81 m/s. However, air resistance eventually cancels out your weight (as it increases with your speed) and you eventually reach a constant speed (your terminal velocity, assuming that you have been falling for long enough and haven't hit anything).

It is a more complex question than it seems. With a sky diver you aren't really going that high. This means that the air is "thicker" and so you won't reach as high a speed. Also, you have considerably less mass than a space shuttle, and so your terminal velocity (the highest speed that you can reach from simply falling through the air) is much lower. You also have a much lower surface area. All of these things combine to mean that the heat generated due to friction is small enough to be convected away by the air that you are passing through.

As for the space shuttle, it is coming from a near vacuum and entering very thin air. This means that the resistance to it's motion is less and so it can reach a higher velocity than normal. When it hits the denser/thicker air lower down the resistance increases by a considerable amount, as does the heat produced. This coupled with it's larger mass and greater surface area means that it heats up a lot more.

I'm not sure about the flammable gases combusting, but then again this is just from what I learned in physics and we never did it in any great detail.

Exactly, a perfect being would imply a perfect process. But life processes are most definitely far from perfect.

Although, I would like to hear evidence from the Creationist side. It doesn't appear very often and any that does is ruthlessly torn apart because it is almost always complete and utter tripe xD

But yeah, Creationism doesn't have a leg to stand on =/
