I see your point, but Kingdom Hearts isn't real life, so it just doesnt matter. They would seem over the top irl, but if its a game, then many ppl want to be impressed by original clothes that suit the style of the game.

I like how Namine has very simple, plain clothes, it sort of takes away from her personality while explaining the character at the same time. She's someone you would almost miss, as if she's not there, even though she made a big difference. Riku's KH2 clothes are probably better, since they're almost the same as KH1 but without those weird but khish pants. Sora's suit his personality, but I prefer something less colourful.
